In this fast pace, high tech world of ours, more and more folks are turning to one single resource that will allow them to identify and evaluate other folks and their Internet expertise. The question we are now confronted with is: “How does one prepare themselves to be Googled?” Therefore, the objective here is to be readily available when Googled. Obviously, preparing yourself to be Googled on the net is rapidly becoming a high demand, and the term being used to prepare yourself on the net is “You,Inc”. So, how does one go about getting themselves “You,Inc” on the Internet? Believe it or not, it is not all that difficult, and you can do it for pennies. Just follow these six easy steps.
STEP ONE: The first website you want to visit is EzineArticles.com Here you will be asked to write a article that will be published. Pick what ever subject matter you have any expertise in. It does not matter what the subject is, fishing, cooking, stamp collecting, Internet Business, writing a story, fiction or fact, what ever. The point is you want to get into the search engines. EzineArticles.com is FREE. Write something that will show who you are. Your article must be a minimum of 250 words and can be up to 5000 words.
STEP TWO: Next, go to linkedin.com This site helps verify who you are. It allows you to be identifiable. It connects you to your people, or in other words, it links you to the net, thus the name linkedin.com Take your time here. Pick your connections wisely. Are they people you want to be identified with? Do they have some Internet connections? Are they business oriented? Are they business owners? Are they positive folks? You will want to develop 20 or more links at this site. By the way, this site is FREE as well.
STEP THREE: If you already don’t have one, go own you space at Facebook.com This is an important task. Make sure you complete all of the requirements here. Fill in all of the blanks. Have fun while you are doing this. Remember, folks will be reading you. Let me give you a tip here. I would imagine the reason you are doing all this is to promote your Internet business. However, this is not the place to do that. If you Facebook is filled with nothing but business it will be a big turn-off. This site is not about business, it’s about you. This site is FREE as well.
STEP FOUR: Own your own site. Build your own website. There are a lot of website builders out there that are comparatively easy to use and affordable. One site builder I would feel comfortable in suggesting can be found when you join intuit.com Whatever the case, if you are going to do business on the net, then you need your own site. If you just want to build a personal site, that’s OK as well. The point here is you want to own your own site.
STEP FIVE: Buy your name. Own a URL with your name in it. Such as (yourname).com Mine is jmikejones.com Although you can buy your name with a lot of endings such as .net or .info I would suggest you stick with .com. There is no need to spend a lot of money owning a lot of spots. You will find that .com will be sufficient. As you go about doing this you may find your name has been bought by someone who has the same name as you do. That’s OK, simply add a number to you name such a yourname010.com. Once again, the objective here is to get your name out there.
STEP SIX: Build your own blog. Blogging is big on the net. It allows you to add thoughts and info on a daily bases. You can develop your own group of bloggers, you can join other groups of bloggers. Bottom line is you can put your info out there each and every day if you want at no cost. And it is another way of letting the world know who you are and what you are about. Word of caution here, think professionally when you are blogging.
PROFILE TIPS: First and foremost: The big secret in being successful is remembering the law of attraction. What you put out there is what you are going to attract. Think about who and what you are.
Secondly, be normal. Have fun out there, enjoy what you are doing. Let people know that life is good.

The popularity of different search engines among Polish internauts
The popularity of search engines in Poland is frequently measured. Recent information can be found on different web sites such as ranking.pl or Megapanel PBI/Gemius. The analysis confirms that Polish people use not only global but also local search tools. The very recent research (from May 2007) shows distinctly that the most popular search engine is Google.

Taking into consideration the average duration of page view internauts use Google similarly to other search engines, however the number of page views per user is different. Google search engine has here predominance. On average there are 101.18 page views monthly, while for the second Onet and fourth Interia it is just 18.27 and 17.83 accordingly.
The most popular keywords in Poland
It is well known what Polish internauts use to search through the Internet and how they do it, the only question is what they generally look for. The most popular keywords in search engines are regularly updated – e.g. in case of Onet (http://boksy.onet.pl/ranking.html) on a weekly basis. The most popular subjects searched for in polish search engines are erotica, entertainment (for example, surnames of popular stars, music files, funny videos, etc.), season entries – connected with current events in the country, or information such as weather, train timetable, loans, work and… search engines! Car related phrases and tourism are very popular as well.
The use of search engine optimization and search engine marketing in Poland
More than 75% of Polish companies (a poll made by Bluerank) use search engine optimization (web positioning and optimization) to improve the visibility of company website at the search engine ranking pages. In addition, half of the examined companies have executed advertising campaigns (PPC) with the use of sponsored links on Polish and international search engines. Polish experts claim that the budget use for this kind of advertising reaches 20% since SEM is the leader of e-marketing. It is because of low costs and efficiency but first of all, perceived by common internauts as practical and useful (according to Gemius actually 29% of all users like paid links and click on them).
The most competitive branches in Poland when talking about SEM activity are finance, tourism, car industry, IT, entertainment, healthcare, real estate and e-commerce. Because of this competitiveness the costs of advertising are much higher than in the less popular areas. The cost of promotion is changing also because of the time period. During festive time, such as the second half of December, the costs increase because of huge popularity of sponsored links, especially in the retail area. Tourism has its ‘raise and fall’ depending on season. The holiday time is very crucial (June-August), New Years Eve, as well as winter holidays (February). Finances are in good condition through the whole year (there is always competition) but taking into consideration IT there is minor stagnation between II and III term, so it means the sponsored links might be cheaper at that time. The advantage of search engine of Onet (in comparison with WP) is an advanced possibility to target ads and well described user profile. According to the data from a search engine – among the total of 11 million of Polish internauts, 650.000 use exclusively Onet (Megapanel PBI/Gemius research from 2006/2007). A very unique feature of this portal is a section called Onet.eu, which is intended to visit by Polish people who live in the United Kingdom. Have You Considered How You Will Position Yourself In Social Media?
If you dive into social media without making a plan, you’ll make more mistakes than you need to. After all, you don’t want to go through a social media identity crisis in front of all the world to see.
Before any social media marketing campaign, and online presence, is launched, you need to decide what it is you want to project. How will you position yourself? What is it that you want to say? Who is the audience that you’re trying to reach? Since social media functions at its best when used to create relationships, think about the community that you want to engage, and how you want to present yourself to that community, before you jump in.
Now this is NOT license to take 6 months to get involved with social media. Honestly, with the pace this is all moving, the rules will have all changed again in 6 months! But it does make sense to take some time to plan out who it is you’re trying to reach and how you want them to perceive you.
When I began my journey into social media, I had some very clear objectives. I wanted to connect with direct sellers and direct selling executives, and provide a forum for the discussion of how to integrate social media marketing into the direct sales industry. I believe that social media will revolutionize the way that direct sellers do business, and I want to have a voice in the conversation. Knowing that, I created a social media strategy that took advantage of social media tools to reach the people I wanted to reach, and made an effort to provide useful information to these people.
So here’s how I did it.
1. I was already on Facebook. I had built a group of friends, colleagues, etc., and once in a while I posted status updates and notes about my business. Most of the time, however, I just engaged the community through the sharing of information, pictures, etc, developing relationships and reigniting old connections.
2. On Facebook, I also set up a fan page for my business, set up and publicized an application where users could send virtual gifts of our products to one another, and created “flair” with our company logo that I sent out to friends. We publicized opportunity calls through our fan page, and highlighted our charitable work here too. I taught our distributors how to use these tools to build their businesses.
3. I began checking Google Analytics for the traffic our company website received from Facebook. We are able to see where web traffic is coming from, and to see how long those visits last, what pages they are looking at, etc. As I’ve mentioned before, Facebook began to consistently rank among the top 5 referrers to our website, with a visit length of 3-5 times the length of any other referrer. The pages that were most visited were our product and opportunity pages.
4. I enhanced my professional profile on LinkedIn, since I was going to begin actively using it. I joined groups on LinkedIn that were relevant to my industry.
5. In January 2009, I began this blog. I researched on the web the discussions going on about social media and direct sales (there isn’t much, unfortunately) and began to add my voice to the discussion. I published all posts to my LinkedIn profile, to my Facebook profile, and to LinkedIn groups that I had joined that were relevant to the direct sales industry. People began commenting on my blog posts, as well as in the LinkedIn groups. I have tried to personally respond to all commentors, in order to continue to develop the relationship.
6. I joined Twitter, and began to try to figure out the tool. I observed more than I posted at first, in order to understand the cadence and the unspoken rules, and slowly began to add to the discussion. I searched for direct sellers and began following them. Many began following me back. I also began to follow giants in the social media world, so I could learn from them. All the while, I tried to add my thoughts about direct selling and social media, as well as helping out people in any ways I could, with all of my knowledge, whether related to direct sales/social media or not. I quickly learned that even with the little I know, I know more than some others about certain things, and so I am generous in my sharing of information. I also take the time to read the profiles and personally respond to those people that begin to follow me. It helps me to better understand what will help my followers.
As a result of this strategy, I have had the great pleasure of connecting with many well-respected leaders in my field, and have helped many people with their businesses. I am learning a GREAT deal, and believe that I am helping to lead my industry into its future with social media marketing. For me, this is greatly satisfying.
I share this strategy with you today because I think it’s important to really think through what you want to project, in order to make the most effective use of social media tools. I am learning everyday how to do this better, and I think that the leaders in social media marketing are constant students. Social media is a great big networking pool, and when you jump in with just a little bit of preparation, you will develop relationships that are beneficial, and that enable a flow of information that positions you as a giver as well as a receiver.
