Why new users would switch from Google to Bing?

Microsoft had updated its search arena with the introduction of Bing in June this year. Since, its launch the search engine has shown positive growth and reached about 3.52% in August month globally. Various analysts presume that with such a positive growth, Microsoft’s Bing could challenge Google’s monopoly in the near future. However, this is not an easy task for Bing to beat the search giant.

Latest Market Share

According to the latest numbers from a research firm, Bing’s global market share has dropped to 3.39% in September from 3.52% in August. The drop is very small but it is not clear that the attempt from Bing to capture search engine market share from Google has stalled, or even gone into reverse.

Bing has outperformed its competitors in features and initial growth rate. However, the initial take-off of Bing could be due to the curiosity from the web-users. The reason behind this may be the hype it created and also, Microsoft pumped millions of dollars for its promotions and advertisements.

At number one, Google has more than 80% market share and Yahoo maintained as the second most used search engine, but its market share dropped from 7.28% to 6.84% in the aforesaid period.

Why new users would switch to Bing?

Last month, it was reported that Microsoft’s new Bing search engine is growing faster than any of its search competitors in the top 10. Bing happens to be a very viable search alternative to Google and offers several advantages that Google cannot compete with at the moment. Here are some features that enhance search experience for the users:

1.    Travel Insight with Farecast technology: It helps for searching flights, hotels or other travel arrangements by providing you with the information to make smart decisions. The search engine analyse more than 175 billion airfare observations and predict whether the price of a flight is going up or down using the technology acquired from Farecast. It also provides a recommendation of either “Buy Now” or “Wait,” over the next seven days.

2.    Bing Cashback Offer: It provides benefit to the user, who first search a product with Bing and then go for buy. Depending on the deal, your purchases could benefit you upto 30% of the purchase price back in cash form. Also, the search engine offered double cashback rewards for August, but they had to stop the scheme in between due to high demands.

3.    Bing Visual Search: The new technology allows visitors to filter their search enquiries for structured results through data-grouping image galleries making it not just a search engine, but a “decision engine.” At present, it is only available in US.

4.    BingTweets: The new service from the search engine was initiated on July 14, 2009 with the social website, Twitter and Federated Media. It provides real-time information and trendy topics to the viewers.

5.    Enhanced Search: Bing also provides something extra as compared to its competitors, for example options of enhanced view and preview windows for results. With these features, users can view the content of the search without clicking on the url. Also, the enhanced view directs the user to Wikipedia content without leaving Bing.

Would You Like Page Rank 5 in 90 Days?

Author admin    Category Google     Tags , , , ,

Page rank or “PageRank” can be something of a mystery to most of us but why and how do we achieve it? Not every website has a PageRank but why is that? And why should it be given as “PageRank” and not “page rank”?

Well, let’s take the last question first. It’s called “Pagerank” not because it has to do with web pages but because the concept was invented by a person named Page. In fact, he is Lawrence E Page who was born in Lansing, Michigan in 1973 and just happens to be one of the clever co-founders of Google.

So, now let’s take the second question, working back through my initial paragraph. Working backwards is all right. We’ll still get back to the point, eventually. The short answer, though one we shall be looking at in greater detail in a later article in this series of articles about PageRank is that they haven’t done sufficient work to deserve it.

Right, let’s go back to the starter question. Why do you need it? A lot of very experienced people will tell you that it doesn’t really matter and that is almost certainly true for the less competitive keywords and phrases.

However, if you’re working in a more highly embattled area, PageRank is of much more importance and that will also be discussed in a later article. The most important thing essentially, is how to get a high PageRank working on a scale from one to ten where ten is almost impossible, unless you happen to be Google. A PageRank of five is considered to be a pretty good rank for your average webmaster and therefore, a worthwhile target. We shall be looking in later articles in the series at how to get to PageRank 5 in just 90 days.

Would A Real-time Advertising Engine Work For Internet Advertising Better Than Google?

I was just wondering your thoughts here, I had a thought as to wether advertising mixed with real-time search results such as from social networks like twitter or facebook could be massive in terms of advertising dollars enabling facebook & twitter to directly compete with a company such as a the likes of google in the online ad business through social ads. Would this be more relevant for consumers wishing to find exactly what they want by filtering search results through real-time and could this become a multibillion-dollar money maker?

Would Twitter Encourage a Charge for Making Friends?

Now it’s a common eagerness in almost everyone to know how Twitter can earn funds easily. Nowadays, everyone wants to make on the universal arena, the main question takes place “Can we get good friends through paying for them?” “Would Twitter charge from us for friends?”

Now Twitter is going to offer its wonderful services to make friends from all over the world through paying for them procedure. To begin such an excited service, Twitter is firm to build some suggestions adequate high-flying in the user knowledge. Moreover, it’s going to improve the excellence of free-of-cost references. Though these references are not able to attract all users in present conditions, they would prove amazing for them with the passage of time. The concept of providing service to make friends on behalf of some charges lets user think what is special in this offer?

In fact, folks don’t have so much time to stay anymore to find out the reasons why they should go with Twitter to make friends on a charging process. However, Twitter can prove a good platform for bloggers to search new friends for new scopes. In present times, Twitter has become more and more popular and so, the idea of making money through paying for friends doesn’t look a source of riches. In fact, people should think differently and special about this wonderful step of Twitter that is taken for sake of people.

Moreover, time will disclose what the new step of Kevin Thau brings for users! We can only hope for the best and expect something an exciting model in coming time that is not far from us. It’s also a great point to think whether people would like to spend some money in seeking friends while they can make friends without paying anything. Since the twitter is a renowned service provider, which takes care of users’ interests rather than its own. It can be anticipated that new launch in friendship field will also be rocking and advantageous for people who are regular visitors of the site.

Lastly, it’s not a good idea to pay for friends and I don’t think that Twitter has any sense of making money behind the new plan. So, it would be better to wait and watch the results that would be visible for everyone in coming times!

I’ve worked with SEM before but more on the ad-hoc reporting side as opposed to the analysis. I was curious to know how do people judge the success of specific keywords or keyword buckets?

What Would Cause A Google Search To Jump To A Random Url?

Just recently, I noticed that if I do a google search, then click on one of the web sites that google found, the page it jumps to is totally unrelated.
For instance, I did a google search on “Texas”, I clicked on the 5th item, “TravelTex – Texas Map”, and it keeps redirecting me to a different web each time I click it!
Any body know what’s causing this, and what to do about it?
Thanks in advance.

Would Google be able to rule the roost outside its stellar search?

Google is sometimes misled with the term “search,” which is the center of our day-to-day computing. The company has achieved a market cap of $183 billion, which is about 71% of the total value of much more established archrival Microsoft.

However, Google has enlarged its domain beyond stellar search, and keeps increasing its bundle of free tools or applications that enable users to communicate, manage multimedia, map trips and even create virtual worlds. With such huge resources in hand, the company had released about fifty new products in last two months.

Recently, the company has acquired various companies like AdMob, Gizmo5, Teracent and AppJet to increase its revenue outside search-based ads business.

Search Share

In the recent market share for November, Google remained the dominant leader with 65.6% share, whereas Yahoo and Bing reported 17.5% and 10.3% share in the November. Microsoft and Yahoo had joined hands in the search to thrash Google’s monopoly in the search.

Now, the company has moved from its search fort and is trying in various fields like apps, programming language, mobile phones, operating systems, cloud apps and many more.

Here, the feature discusses some of the products recently launched by Google. However, the question is; Whether Google succeeds outside of search?

Google Phone: Nexus One

The company has been planning for an all-out assault on the mobile-phone market via its own branded handset, called “Nexus One.” According to various analysts, it will be one of the most advanced Smartphones present in the market with Android OS and will directly challenge Apple’s iPhone and RIM’s Blackberry in the sector. Recently, Google gave employees an Android handset for testing that can search the Web by speaking search terms.

Google Android OS

Android is a mobile operating system running on the Linux kernel. It was launched back in 2007 especially for mobile devices, but now many PC vendors are planning to introduce Android based netbooks.

In the recent data for November month, Android claimed 27% share in the market, whereas iPhone OS reported 55% share in the Smartphone market in US.

Google Chrome OS

Google has released the source code for its browser based operating system, called Chromium OS, which will target the small and low power PCs like netbooks that have shown positive growth during the recession. Further, the new systems based on the OS are strictly for cloud computing and they will be connected to the web via Wi-Fi and will play only web-based applications such as Google Docs. Also, all the data will be stored in cloud not in users’ netbook. Hence, users do not require much storage in their PC.

Google Apps

It features several Web applications with similar functionality to traditional office suites that includes Gmail, Google Calendar, Talk, Docs, Picasa, Google Earth and Sites. Google redefined the concept of Cloud Computing and developed applications that made migration easier for users from pre installed applications to cloud based services.

Google Dashboard

Google Inc, the search giant has announced that it will provide a window called Google Dashboard to its users so that they can view what data Google is capturing from their activities on 20 products and services like YouTube, Gmail, Google Reader etc.

Google Social Search

In contrast to Microsoft’s Bing-based Twitter search, the new Google search tool will make use of users’ contacts from more than 20 services and other information from your contacts to build up a network, for example Twitter, FriendFeed, Flickr, data from Google readers and other web based social content.

Google Wave

It is a web-based service, which will merge e-mail, IM, wiki and social networking. Further, it also provides robust spelling/grammar checking, automated translation between 40 languages and numerous other extensions. Currently, it is available in a developer preview for sandbox access. Sources suggest that the platform is designed to provide the next generation of Internet communication.

How Would You Show Your Knowledge Of Social Media In A Job Interview?

I have a job interview this week at an ad agency and one thing they asked was that I demonstrate my knowledge of social media and online media. I have a lot of experience online through twitter, facebook, blogging, etc. But I need to show that in person, and most likely without a computer. I have a few ideas that I’ve started, but want to see if anyone has any creative suggestions or advice?
