Adsense and Real Estate Web Sites; Start Making Money Today

As a web master you’re interested in one thing…traffic – and lots of it! With traffic comes a potential customer, which basically means sales which in turn means profits.

While many sites have collapsed in the past with the downturn of many internet based business, many smaller sites have generated good money by hosting ads on their websites.

Do You Need to be Computer Savvy to Use Google Adsense?

No! You don’tt have to be a techno-geek to use Google Adsense. In fact, you don’t need any more technical knowledge than you do to surf the web. Google Adsense is very user-friendly with a comprehensive support site to answer any question you might have.

Google will walk you through the sign-up process where you are prompted for the information it needs. You will then have a couple of days while you are waiting for your account to be approved. This would be a good time to familiarize yourself with the program policies, which of course you read before you signed up. But look again!

Make sure the site you are registering doesn’t have any of the no-nos listed. For instance, some profanity is allowed, but nothing excessive. What is excessive? That could be a gray area, but if you’re in doubt, don’t register that site. There’s plenty of sites with little or no profanity.

Look at the support site while you are waiting on Google Adsense and see what others are saying and doing. Most of all, have fun. Your Google Adsense dollars are just waiting to be counted.

What You Can and Should Do

Google Adsense is a fun and easy way to make extra money. It’s important to follow the rules though as Google is serious about the integrity of this program. Not following the rules could result in your Google Adsense account being terminated. Here are a few Dos for using the program:

Read the Terms and Conditions and Program Policies thoroughly. Read everything you can about Google Adsense to learn from others’ experiences and mistakes.

Learn how to optimize your site for the most enjoyable and profitable Google Adsense experience. Realize it takes time and hard work, which is why you should be doing something you care about. Hard work is even harder if you don’t like what you’re doing.

Visit other sites that are benefiting from Google Adsense. Click on the ads only if you are truly interested in the product or service being advertised. Read other people’s blogs and comment on them. Offer comments only if it’s meaningful and adds value for readers who log on after you.

How Much Money Can You Make With Google Adsense?

How much do you want to make? How hard do you want to work? And how much time do you want to spend working the Google Adsense program?

These are the questions you must ask yourself in order to answer the question, and of course it’ll be different from person to person.

If your total earnings is showing 0.00 after a week, not to worry. Keep reading and learning and working. If however, you’re still showing 0.00 after a month, it may be time to implement some of those optimization tips you’ll find on the Google Adsense Support Site.

Play around with the placement of the ads on your site. Consider changing the colors. Look again at the content. Is it interesting?

As with any other business, with the Google Adsense program, the sky is the limit. Work hard. Work smart. Have fun. After all, you’re the boss.

Summarily, AdSense makes it possible for almost anyone with a web site or blog to earn some revenue from advertising, without having to employ sales people or spend precious time searching for advertisers.

How to Monitor a Site’s Visibility in Google, MSN, and Yahoo:

There are plenty of SEO tools that help webmasters monitor their site’s visibility with leading search engines. The following is a list of site monitor and web monitor tools are not meant to be exhaustive, but rather a quick primer on what is out there.

Google Site Information Page

There is a great deal of information on a site’s search engine standings that can be easily found directly through the search box on the Google home page. Simply typing in info:xyzsitenameandsuffix will bring up information like what sites Google considers to be similar and a list of all the sites that have linked to the site being searched as well as all sites that contain the site’s url regardless of it being a hyperlink or plain text. Even though the data from “info:” command is not always accurate and complete, it does give a quick and way to find out all of a site’s backlinks. The “site:” command is also useful for finding out which pages of a site has been indexed by Google’s Spider. Along with the “site:” feature, there are many other search and site monitors available from Google for free.

What Effect does Google’s Spiders have on the Site?

Google maintains an up-to-date index of every webpage in its search results through an automated program called the Google Spider. Whenever a page has been indexed, the Google Spider also keeps a copy of that particular page in its cache. Checking out a page’s cache date will also give the date of the last time that page was indexed through the Google Spider. Information on a page’s Google cache can be easily found through the “site:” command described above and also by putting in the site’s url into Google’s search box and running a search. It should be remembered that xyzsite.com and www.xyzsite.com are indexed and cached differently by Google, so both sites will have different cache times.

Site’s Yahoo Status

Yahoo’s has a service similar to Google’s “info:” tool in their Search Meta Words help page. The information obtained from the Meta Words pages are things like what sites are linking to the site being searched, what pages of the site are indexed by Yahoo Search, what pages were previously cached and more. The help page can be found at http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/tips/tips-08.html

How to Find A Site’s Status on MSN

Just like Yahoo and Google, Microsoft also offers a complete range of site monitor tools. Site owners can find data on about their site’s status with the web crawler at MSN Search’s and the time it was last indexed. MSN’s site:www.xyzsite.com works exactly like Google’s “info:” command. Typing that into an msn search box gives indexing data as well as the date when the last page was cached. More information about a site’s status on MSN can be found at http://search.msn.com/docs/siteowner.aspx.

Check the Site’s Google Rank

Google Rankings is just one of the many search monitors and site monitors offered by Google. Although using the Google Rankings service requires an API key, it allows webmasters to find their site’s search engine position in the top 40 to 1000 results for a keyword. Additionally, Google Rankings also shows a site’s rank on MSN and Yahoo’s search engines. Google Rankings forms part of a complete site monitoring package with another utility called the Ultimate SEO Tool. The Ultimate SEO Tool measures a site’s keyword density. The Google Rankings service can be found at http://www.googlerankings.com.

Checking Backlinks in Google

The Backlink Checker tool, found at LilEngine.com, is an ideal way for comparing the number of backlinks a site has compared to its competing sites. Although a larger number of backlinks a site possesses will improve the site’s page-rank, many other factors can also influence a site’s ultimate search engine position. The Backlink Checker can be found at http://lilengine.com/tools/backlinks-tool.php.

Checking a Site’s Position in the Yahoo Search Results Page

Yahoo Search Rankings comes from the same people who have brought Google Rankings and shows the site’s position in Yahoo’s top 1000 results for a given keyword. Yahoo’s Web API developer site contains even more search engine monitoring tools. The Yahoo Search Rankings can be accessed at http://www.yahoosearchrankings.com.

The Good the Bad and the Ugly: How Social Media Sites Can Influence Your Product’s Publicity

Social media websites have taken over the World Wide Web. Anyone spending time on the internet is signed into one of these sites at least, and more likely signed into several.

To name but a selective few of these social media and social bookmarking sites, there are: Facebook, Myspace, Furl, Del.icio.us, Digg, Reddit, Twitter, Stumbleupon, Rojo, Meetup, Linkedin, Technorati, Slashdot, and more.

With literally millions of users situated all over the world on these social media websites, companies can now use these websites as advertising mediums, targeting millions of people 24/7. This kind of advertising is extremely effective in targeting your specific market as there are such a large number of people to expose your brand to. The best thing about exposing your brand in this medium is that if people like it, your brand’s popularity can spread faster than the flu bug: think of it as viral marketing on red bull. In fact, you can be the talk of the web in just one day: thanks to extremely powerful advertising.

The reason for this quick spread via web circulation is that the online community is user driven of course, but because of this user driven force behind your brand, it can also get the boot from the online community and can have the complete opposite effect on a brand, not exactly what a company needs, and bad publicity can spread even faster than the flu, which is never a good thing.

The best way for companies to keep track of their brand’s reputation is through Online Reputation Management (ORM). Online Reputation Management combines marketing and public relations with search engine marketing.

There are three basic steps involved in implementing Online Reputation Management, which will be discussed hereafter. These steps are: Monitor, Analyze and Influence.

Monitor: You need to know what is being said about your brand. You might think that perceptions are impossible to track and monitor as news travels at such an incredible speed over the internet, thanks to blogs, forums and podcast – but there are internet monitoring services that you can use to solve this problem. An example of such a monitoring system is to set up Google Alerts to observe what is being said about your brand in the news on the web. You can also use sites such as Feedster and Technorati to monitor what is being said about your brand in blogs. You can also keep track of your direct competitors in this way.

Analyse: now that you’ve monitored the required information, you need to analyze it. To keep track of your search engine environment, you need to know your competition in depth. For example, make a list of the sites that have information concerning your brand. Split this list into positive and negative feedback, as it is good to know where the bad and good publicity is coming from. Also check their page rank, number of links, and any other aspects you can find.

Influence: One simple and effective method with which to influence your brand in a positive way is to participate by getting involved in the conversation. The old saying goes, if you can’t beat them, join them. So do exactly that: become a regular contributor to blogs and forums where you found most activity involving your brand. The golden rule when doing this is to stay honest about your brand. If for example, someone in the blogosphere said an inaccurate statement about your brand, you are able to clarify it by giving them evidence that supports your case and in so doing removing the error concerning your brand.

So, start implementing your ORM guns to counter attack your brand’s reputation. In this way you’ll prevent an ugly showdown from dragging down your brand.

What Not to Do

Google Adsense is a fun and easy way to make extra money. It’s important to follow the rules though, as Google is serious about the integrity of this program. Not following the rules could result in your Google Adsense account being terminated. Here are a few Don’ts for using the program:

Never, ever, ever click on your own ads. Google Adsense makes it very clear this won’t be tolerated.

Don’t ask your friends and family to click on your ads. Rather, earn money by referring them to the Google Adsense program.

Don’t participate in the Google Adsense program strictly for the money. This is not a get-rich-quick scheme. It will take time and hard work to make a profit.

Don’t worry if you don’t understand everything the first day. Although the Google Adsense program is extremely user-friendly, it may take a little time to integrate all the facets of the program. Be patient and above all, have fun!

Hopefully, these helpful tips will ease you into using the program and help you avoid mistakes that could possibly cost you a lot of time or money.

Themed Adsense Units Can Brighten Up Your Holidays.

What are Themed Ad Units? In short, they are ads that have special colors and graphics to celebrate the holidays and seasons of the year!

For example, you might see your ad with orange print with a picture of a black cat for Halloween. How about red print with a green mistletoe for Christmas?

The Themed Ad Units are specifically tailored to users in the appropriate locations as determined by their IP address. For instance, a user in the United States might see colors and graphics appropriate to the Fourth of July while users everywhere could see colors and graphics for New Years Day.

Again, it’s your choice and your page. You can turn Themed Ad Units on or off by yourself. Just log in to your account, go to the My Account tab. On the Account Settings page, scroll down to the Ad Type Preferences section and click Edit.

You can now enable or disable the Themed Ad Units. Click save changes and Voila! Your selection will apply to all your Google Adsense Ads.

Summarily, AdSense makes it possible for almost anyone with a web site or blog to earn some revenue from advertising, including Realtors, without having to employ sales people or spend precious time searching for advertisers.

Do Page Rank 0 Sites Have Any Place In Link Building Today?

As we see search engines focusing more of their attention on quality and relevant links, many clients (and SEO experts) have developed cold feet as to the usefulness and ROI from targeting PR 0 sites in the link building campaigns.

Link building as we know is tedious, and the effort to source links is time consuming, so should one take time going after the PR 0 website’s, which may or may not pass on any link power back to us. So is this time wasted, or well spent?

A fact – All websites start with PR 0, and eventually some grow to become authoritative sources with PR 6 and above. Is it easier to get a link from a PR 0 site or a PR 8 site? You don’t need a SEO Expert to answer that question.

Another fact is that 80 percent of the PR 0 sites may close down in near future. But the remaining sites if they can survive would get some Page Rank (PR) over time, whether they do SEO or not.

So the challenge is in finding PR 0 websites that are relevant to your business/industry and which have the potential to grow into PR 4 above sites in the future.

It is something like buying shares of a company when it got incubated. Imagine if you had brought some Google stocks when they had just started. What would they be worth right now?
In the same way some PR 0 links could become invaluable in the future, and these links will be impossible for your competitor to replicate at that time.

To target such links one needs a long term vision and commitment as the value of this activity appreciates over time and it’s advised that impatient people should avoid this strategy.

With life or with SEO, a long term vision and a fine balance is what works best for me! It’s up to you to decide what works best for you

How The Internet Business Can Make Money With The Social Media Sites

Understanding the big picture, the business concept, of the social media sites is crucial, because it gives you the idea how to utilize them for your internet business. What is their driving force?

1.What Is A Social Site?

As we see, the term is built of two words: media, which means advertising distribution channel and social, which means a group of same thinkers inside some bigger group of people. It also means the interaction between the group members. Both parts are very useful for the internet business marketing and actually belong to its basic vocabulary.

So social media means communication place, which is established for people, who has the same interest or hobby, where they can change ideas and share benefits. If you think your own internet business this sounds just great!

Wikipedia puts it in this way:

“Social Media is the democratization of information, transforming people from content readers into content publishers. It is the shift from a broadcast mechanism to a many-to-many model, rooted in conversations between authors, people, and peers.”

It is important that social media uses the crowds and their own will to connect information in a manner they want. So the social media sites are voluntary and extremely interactice, which gives lots of benefits for their members in the form of internet business forums, message boards, weblogs, wikis, podcasts, pictures and videos. Funny thing is that social media sites are driven by users, they make the content.

2.How To Grab Attention In The Social Media Sites?

When people participate in the social media, they act in interest groups, which is natural. In the internet business marketing this is called segmentation. If an internet business marketer wants to grab attention on the site, he has to stand out from the crowd. The requirement to be different is the same than in other mediums.

Social media sites are like open markets, where you as one participant build your own brand, your own expertise, which attracts some of the group of the same thinkers and a part of these interested people want to visit your website. In a way the question is about pre selling job, but never about advertising.

If the social media site has exactly the same content or idea than your internet business site has, then it can be a lead producer for your website directly or your website can even be able to sell the products to the visitors. In case of the leads, it gives your internet business site a great opportunity to approach them later with several emails or newsletters.

The competition in the social media sites requires that you need the AIDA process: attention, interest, desire and action. It is a process which needs planning, because the sites are full of personal messages. The most important thing is your promise: what is so useful in your offer?

The social media sites offer a great place to build your own brand, which is a multistep process. It is all about information, about influences and about feelings towards different actors. Social media marketing also involves the process of promoting and spreading ideas among targeted internet business audiences. Social media marketing can also be used as a calculated tactic to nurture feelings or goodwill towards a specific website or internet business.

Social media marketing is a strategic and methodical process to establish your influence, reputation and brand within communities of potential customers, readers or supporters.

40 Top Article Submission Sites, With Page Rank, Alexa Rank, Compete.com Unique Users, and Google Search Queries

Writing and syndicating original articles is one of the best ways to increase your search standings on Google. Not all article submission sites are equal, however. Here are the top 40 article submission sites.

Blogsimplified, a great place to find simple Wordpress themes and ideas, did the work so you don’t have to.

The article submission sites are listed and ranked by Google PageRank, Alexa rank, monthly unique users on Compete.com, and search volume for phrases containing the domain name as determined by the Google keyword tool in Adwords.

We looked through every decent book on Search Engine Optimization, including Search Engine Optimization for Dummies, and a number of the leading sites including SEOmoz.com and SEOBook.com, and a number of articles listing the top article submission sites.

All the lists we could find were terribly out of date. Many of the sites listed on the top SEO sites went to spammy sites that wanted to sell you an ebook or training course. Most of the sites listed in Search Engine Optimization for Dummies, published just a year ago, were simply out of business.

Many blogs and ezines pick up content from the top article sites and republish it. One common question about syndicating your content through article submission sites is the following: Doesn’t this duplicate the article all over the web and thereby reduce search standing?

Syndicating articles does create lots of duplicate content, but if you craft your articles with carefully keyworded links back to your page, then the net effect is that your page should rank higher, and you should gain lots of new backlinks and exposure on the web.

Hopefully this list is useful. Please leave a comment at http://blogsimplified.com if you find any good sites that we missed.

Article Submission Site is the name of the website where authors can submit articles and website publishers can get free content. Page Rank is Google’s measure of standing based on the quality of incoming links to the page. Higher Page Rank is better.

Alexa Rank is Amazon.com’s way of ranking sites. Lower is better.

Compete.com measures the monthly unique users to the site. Higher is better.

Search volume is based on Google’s Keyword tool. In this case, We looked at how many Google searches in an average month included the domain name in the search string. It is generally a pretty good indicator of the brand recognition of the site.
