Google Pagerank Decreasing

Many people sees google pagerank as a measurement tool for viewing the importance of a specific website, even other big webmasters trust pagerank to be correct, but it cant be further from the truth.

For those how want an introduction to what Pagerank is.PageRank is a numeric value that represents how important a page is on the web. Many are many aspects to consider when trying to get a higher pagerank, just to mention some of them, links to your website from others, onpage optimization, for how long your website has been online etc. its a fulltime job just trying to keep up with the adjustments made by google.

Many people sees google pagerank as a measurement tool for viewing the importance of a specific website, even other webmasters trust pagerank to be correct, but it can’t be further from the truth. Google page rank has in the last year + more been very unstable, I have seen website going from a pagerank of 1 to 5 within a month, and some sites going from 8 to 2, even newly added website having quite high pageranks, without even having any traffic to their sites.

So why are people still using this pagerank as a trusted tool. well its quite simple, people still reads all the old articles on the internet saying, what a wonderfull tool it is, and people just got stuck in the old rutine, well get out of it and try to do some reasonable analysis on webpages.

Note:Other people tend to use a website called alexa to see the importance of a website, this website is actually quite effectiv, or it was, now I see alot of website get highly ranked there to, because they once or twice have bought some cheap traffic and then alexa has rated them based on their visiors amount.

Conclusion. So if your using eighter google pagerank or alexa to analyze websites, do it with caution, be carefull not to only use these tools, be creative instead try other ways, you may even discover new alternatives others have never thought of. For example try to see what are the most used keywords for a speciffic subject, then see what website is shown first in both google, yahoo, msn and more.

Google Pagerank Algorithm Explained

Google uses the PageRank algorithm to rank pages in their search engine results. The algorithm is based on analysing link structures: each link can be seen as a vote by a page for another page it links to. It is necessary to have a basic understanding of how PageRank works to be able to optimize web sites for the Google search engine .

History of PageRank

PageRank was invented by Larry Page at Stanford University, and named after him. Page began the project in 1995, and worked on it with Sergey Brin. The project then lead to the prototype Google in 1998. Google Inc. was founded to manage the Google search engine, which used PageRank. Currently the trademark PageRank belongs to Google Inc., but the original patent for the PageRank algorithm is assigned to Stanford University.

Google has since grown to the largest search engine in the world, with nearly two thirds of searches made on Google. The PageRank algorithm is still one of the factors taken into account in Google’s search engine result ranking, and it is constantly followed by interested search engine marketing specialists around the world.

The PageRank Algorithm

A good analogy for the PageRank algorithm is that each link is a vote for the target page. This link structure of the web is analyzed recursively, so that the value of each vote depends on the PageRank of the voting page, calculated from the votes in the previous iteration of PageRank.

When a new page comes into being in this link structure, it will only get a PageRank value once other pages link to it. Each link will give some PageRank to the new page, the amount a single link gives depending mostly on two things: the PageRank of the linking page, and the number of links on it. The more outbound links a page has, the less weight each of them will have.

The actual algorithm used by Google is, naturally, more complicated then this. That algorithm also takes into account page topics. Pages with the same, or related topic that link to each other will carry more weight with their links than completely different pages that link to each other.

It is thought that raw PageRank data exists as a floating point number for each page. These real time values are constantly updated by Google crawlers. The visible PageRank value that can be seen on the Google Toolbar is on a scale from zero to ten. This is exported from the real time PR data approximately once every three months. On Google Directory the PageRank is reported as an eight unit measure, which is also periodically compiled from the real time data, though less often than the toolbar PageRank is.

In Conclusion

The voting analogy describes the PageRank algorithm fairly well, but, though Google may claim so, it is not a completely democratic system. The weight of each link depends both on the PageRank of the page linking and the number of links it has. To improve PageRank, more inbound links, preferably from pages with high PageRank, must be acquired.

What is Google Pagerank?

Author admin    Category Google     Tags ,

Everyone will have heard of the phrase ‘Google pagerank’ being mentioned from time to time, most people don’t even know what it is or how much of an important role is plays on the performance of your website. By learning basic methods that can increase your page rank you will be able to get the full potential out of your website. The scale goes from 0 – 10 with each step being harder to achieve, it doesn’t necessarily go up one level at a time, you could be page rank (pr for short) 0 when you first do your site and then after the first update, it could jump to pr 4. It depends solely on how much work you put into it, there are no set periods when Google decides to update but it’s generally around every 3 months or so. Basically Google page rank is the method of which Google uses to establish where in the search engine you will be place and your sites authority.

This does not mean if you have a pr 5 site you will outrank every competing page below you. There are a lot of factors that decide where you will actually rank which is why it’s important you do your research to ensure you don’t miss anything out that could severely affect your ranking. The pr of your website doesn’t really alter the search engine results that much compared to the content level and link building you will of performed, but if there are two or more identical pages, Google would place the one with highest pr above the rest.

A great way of increasing your page rank is to get other sites with high pr linking to your site, this will show to Google that highly respected sites think that you have a quality site which in turn will boost your pr. You need to put a lot of thought into your link building campaign, try to go for quality over quantity. Many people waste time grabbing thousands of pr0 sites which won’t have that much of an effect, Google may even penalise you for spamming. If you can get 10 pr5 links to your site it would give a better result than the thousands of pr0 would, if you get them on targeted sites you will have more chance of targeted traffic coming through to your website which has more chance of converting.

Google PageRank Essentials

Google decides their search engine rankings by more than 100 factors. One of these is Page Rank (PR) .

view web pages Page Rank, you’ll need to download the Google Toolbar.

Google Page Rank: The Short Elucidation

Your web page PR is resolute by only 3 factors:

1. The quantity of pages linking to your page.
2. The Page Rank of the web pages linking to your web page.
3. The total quantity of outgoing links from the pages linking to your web page.

You gain the good PageRank boost from pages that

a) Themselves have high Page Rank and

b) Link to only a few other websites. Yet incoming links from pages of low Page Rank with many outbound links will increase your pages PR, as long as you don’t link back to them.

“As far as PR is concerned, every unreciprocated incoming link is a good link.”

The deception part in the equation comes into play when you begin exchanging links. Because your link to their website affects their PR and their link to your website affects your PR. Obsessions become further complicated.

If you are concerned regarding PR, the general rule of thumb is always to swap links with websites of equivalent or higher PageRank.

It is significant to remember, PR isn’t everything. There are lots of other causes to exchange links with other websites. For example, when you think it is a good website. PageRank is only a very small factor in Googles overall search engine ranking equation.

PR Calculation

Page Rank of Your Web Page = .15 + .85(PR (A1)/C (A1) + PR (A2)/C (A2) + … + PR (An)/C (An))

Where:

‘A1’ through ‘An’ are pages providing incoming links to Your Page
PR (An) is the PageRank of ‘An’
C(An) is total number of outgoing links on ‘An’

PR(PageRank) Of Google ToolBar:

It is significant to note that the true Page Rank as determined by above method is not the same as the Page Rank displayed by the ‘Google Toolbar’. Right PageRank can range from .15 to more than a few million. Everybody knows that Google Toolbar displays a PR from 0 to 10.Therefore; each number in the Toolbar PageRank actually symbolizes a range of True PageRank values.

It is easy to gain or loose PR at the inferior numbers on the Toolbar. Though, to go from a Toolbar PR of 9 to a Toolbar PR of 10 is very difficult. As an approximation, it would take somewhat over 9 million dedicated PR 1 back links to raise a pages PR from a low 9 to a low 10.

Approximation of Toolbar PR vs. True Page Rank
Based on Log Base 5 Scale

Toolbar PageRank

True PageRank

2

25-125

3

4

5

3,125-15,625

6

15,625-78,125

7

8

9

1,953,125-9,765,625

10

9,765,625-48,828,125

The above is an approximation only based on the supposition that the highest true PageRank now existing for any page on the World Wide Web is almost 49 million. These values in fact change every time a new web page is added to the Internet. Every time Google index the web, the PageRank of every page is recalculated so that the average PR of all web pages on the Internet is equivalent to one. Consequently, the true values of the above chart are constantly in fluctuation.

A Simple Example PR Calculation:

Let’s assume that your web page has 4 pages linking to it as follows:

Web Page a: True Page Rank 110, Total Outgoing Links 5 Web Page b: True Page Rank 1000, Total Outgoing Links 45 Web Page c: True Page Rank 2000, Total Outgoing Links 100 Web Page d: True Page Rank 100, Total Outgoing Links 1

Soure: Google PageRank Essentials

Here is how the formula looks when we plug in the numbers:

Page Rank of Your web Page = .15 + .85 (PR(A1)/C(A1) + PR(A2)/C(A2) + … + PR(An)/C(An))
Page Rank of Your web Page = .15 + .85 (110/5 + 1000/45 + 2000/100 + 100/1)
Page Rank of Your web Page = .15 + .85 (22 + 22.22 + 20 + 100)
Estimated Toolbar Rank = 2

Web page with the lowest True PR has actually increased your PR. Because you were its only outgoing link, Google has allotted your web page the full vote from this website. At the other hand, the page with the highest True PR increased your web sites PR the least because he has increase his voting power over 100 outgoing links.

Let’s see what happens to the numbers if we replace Page 3 with another page of True PR 2000 but only 3 outgoing links:

PR of Your web Page = .15 + .85 (110/5 + 1000/45 + 2000/3 + 100/1)
PR of Your web Page = .15 + .85 (22 + 22.22 + 666.66 + 100)
PR of Your web Page = 689.39
Estimated Toolbar Rank = 4

clearly, it is nice to attract links from high PR web sites, but it’s even superior if you can be one of their only outgoing links.

How To Improve Your Profit With A Better Google PageRank

GOOGLE PAGERANK

Every one with a business web site knows that the lifeblood of their business is the traffic that they can get to it, and that the Search Engines are a sure and economic way of getting it…

If…

Your web site shows among the first 20 or 30 results when someone looks at a Search Engine For the keywords of your web site.

Google is one of the biggest Search Engines (or the biggest) and that´s why Google is one of the most used ones.

If your web site has a big PageRank, that´s one of the easiest ways to reach the first places on a Google´s search, so many people think that what you should look for, is to have a BIG Google Page Rank.

And what is the PageRank?

PageRank it´s a measure of a site´s reputation according to the quality and quantity of it´s in pointing links.

How can you get in pointing links from the expert sites on your market?

You can do it with a link exchange campaign, but most of all you can achieve it:

Having good content!

So for the same keyword, the page with higher page rank will rank higher on the searches, and a page with higher page rank linking to your site, will help you more to get a better page rank for your site.

To determine the relevance of a web page, Google looks for keywords in various places of each web page, plus many other things and one of them is the PageRank, meaning that Google has a ranking where the best pages about each keyword have the bigger Page Rank.

So the marketers and search engine optimizers started to manipulate the keywords, in order to have a bigger page rank, and soon the Search Engines noticed it and started to counteract creating extremely sophisticated algorithms to evaluate each web site´s real page rank and banned the the cheater´s web sites.

And this is an endless dance, the search engine optimizers keep studying better ways to optimize the web pages, and the search engines keep evolving and creating evaluation methods that will tell them the truth about each web site´s content and value.

Many search engine optimizers will tell you that they know how Google evaluates the web site, but the real truth is that no one of them knows it! Maybe two or three people at Google really know it, and they will never tell it to any one because that will ruin their business.

And which is Google´s business?

Google´s business is to recognize what each web site is about and how good is at it, because they want to sell advertise, and they do it providing the best results on each search (including the page ads on the results). So their business is to provide targeted surfers to their advertisers.

People find that the results are really related with what they are looking for, they click over the URL (sometimes over the free ones and sometimes over the ads) and they keep on using Google as their favorite search engine.

To recognize what each web site is about and how good is at it sounds reasonable and easy for a human being, but it´s not easy at all for Google´s robots.

So Google creates algorithms to evaluate the sites and from time to time changes their algorithm in what it has being called “Google´s dance”. This “dance” of course irritates many people (the ones that try to discover what the algorithm is about) because when they get near to know how to artificially inflate a web page´s value, Google changes the relevancy criteria.

But the fact is that Google does the right thing. The want to be able to recognize what each web site is about and how good is at it, without mistaking good content web pages with well “optimized” web pages.

Search engines as Google need to recognize reality and to give the proper page rank to each web site, and how do they do it?

They check the on-page criteria and the off-page criteria…

On-page criteria evaluates the content of a web page (keywords, title, meta tags, body, images, alt tags, etc.)

Off-page criteria evaluates how the people react about it:

what URL gets the click

how much time people spends reading each web page

how many URL link to that page, and how relevant (how big is the PageRank) are the pages that link to it

etc.

And there´s only one way to generate off-page criteria: with good content!

It´s you who know your business, and you are the best suited to write your web site´s content and this is the basic idea.

1) Create web pages with excellent content about your topic. This will tell the search engine´s robot what your page is about.

2) Once you create a professionally designed web page as the ones that “How to Sell on the Web” helps you to create, don´t loose your time tweaking it to reach better places with the search engines, use your time to create more good content web pages. Keep on creating good content web pages until you have 20 or more.

3) Submit your web page to the search engines

4) Start a links exchange campaign. This will not only help you reach a higher pagerank but some search engines do not allow you to submit your web site to them and will only be able to find you through your inbound links

This plan works as a snowball…

You write 20 or more good content web pages

You exchange links with some good content web pages

The search engines find that people is linking to your web pages and give you a page rank

You write more good content web pages

People find that your web site is a really good one and start asking you to exchange links

Search engines find that you have more good inbound links and give you a higher pagerank for more of your easy to win keywords (without tweaking your pages)

The higher pagerank gives you a better position on searches, this brings more visitors to your site, some of them buy your products or services and some others ask you to exchange links with them as the snowball keeps on rolling and growing you will get higher pagerank for your most competitive keywords too and without having to tweak your pages

Is this an easy and fast process?

It should be easy for you to write about your topic, but it might take months to get a decent pagerank. You will find yourself writing pages and exchanging links without noticing any results…

Don´t worry!

Keep on building good content pages

keep on looking for good inbound links

Keep on building good content pages

keep on looking for good inbound links

Don´t worry, persist…

And you will succeed for sure!

How To Increase Google Pagerank: Top 3 Factors That Influence Your Site Page Rank

PageRank is a technology used by Google. The method involves an algorithm of link analysis. The search engine puts a numerical value to every elements of a hyperlink set.

PR assigns a numerical value for each page in a web site by taking “votes” from other pages to value the importance of the page.

How to Increase Google Pagerank?

Here are Top Factors that Influence Your Site Page Rank:

1.   Attractive Content

The most influential factor in assigning the value is the relevancy of the content in that page. Richer content gives higher number. The rich content means the topic of the site should be specific and it should be well organized. So to gain a high number, you must have such content that will attract the Google crawlers.

2.   The Amount of Visitors

The second most important factor is the number of visitors. The total number of visitor influences the page rank. The number increases with the growing visitors. So if you can find a way to boost the traffic of your page, you will have a better pagerank value and better ranking in the search engines.

3.   The Quantity Of The Inbound Pages

The quantity of the inbound pages can shift the value. The inbound means the other associated pages of a certain page. The value of the associated pages is also very important when you want to increase pagerank. So it is better if most of your pages have high ranking value by following the two methods mentioned earlier. Also if you have link exchange contact with other similar sites, you need to be sure about the PageRank value of those sites.

Now you know the answer to the question: “How to Increase Google Pagerank?” If you follow all these methods, you will get a higher ranking in no time and your site will come among the top search results.

How to Improve Future Page Rank – Google PageRank Predictor Tool

We found a hot Google PageRank tool that utilizes a unique algorithm to predict the future value of Google Page Rank on your website. Google PR ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank ), is the Google patented algorithm named after one of their co-founders Larry Page. The Google PR algorithm has helped set the Google search engine apart from other search engines. The PageRank algorithm takes in multiple factors to grade the relevance of your website from a scale of 0-10. The PageRank tool is available on your browser by installing the Google Toolbar and choosing from “Toolbar Options” to have the “PageRank” display.

Knowing how to increase PageRank takes a lot of consistent work and effort and can be established by activities improving both onsite and offsite architecture. Key factors that contribute to the onsite relevance of your website and to improve PageRank include, but are not limited to, relevant meta-tags, optimized content, properly structured image references, proper file infrastructure, and relevant in-bound content links. There are additional factors that Google may use to determine PageRank but you will find that things change over time. Offsite factors include links inbound to your site (the relevance and PageRank of the source of these inbound links), publishing content throughout the internet that links back into the relevant content of your website, hitting the viral/social-sphere with your content and creating relevant inbound links, publishing your website content in additional media types such as audio and video, updating content to provide the search engines with fresh information, and additional factors which are ever changing as well. The scoring methods of the Google PageRank tool will continue to evolve as the internet and search marketplace grow. Check out the innovative Google PageRank predictor tool at http://www.seomastering.com/pagerank-prediction.php.

Search engine optimization (SEO) techniques will be the base to establishing a solid PageRank and to potentially improve PageRank. A comprehensive Search Engine Optimization strategy should include creating relevant meta-tags, fresh and unique content, image alt tags, file architecture and proper onsite conventions, as well as offsite conventions which include creating back-links, content syndication, and alerting the search engines you are relevant to a specific topic. Search Engine Optimization continues to evolve and is a very technical and complex science, so there are components which lie outside of the above breakdown. Using the Google PageRank predictive model tool we provided, you should be able to see that proactive SEO is occurring on your website property and as a result you should see increasing search engine rankings in the near future. Please bear in mind that this tool is simply a best guess at what your future Page Rank may be and should only be used as an estimate. This is not the end all answer as to whether or not your Search Engine Optimization techniques are effective.

Does Google PageRank Count Anymore?

Copyright (c) 2009 Titus Hoskins

Being a full-time SEM (Search Engine Marketer) I have been conditioned like Pavlov’s dog (not a pretty picture) to jump every time Google twitches. Lately Google has been doing a lot of twitching.

Specifically, the rather startling news from Google Webmaster Trends Analyst Susan Moskwa that Google has ditched PageRank from Webmaster Tools.

“We’ve been telling people for a long time that they shouldn’t focus on PageRank so much; many site owners seem to think it’s the most important metric for them to track, which is simply not true,” states Moskwa. “We removed it because we felt it was silly to tell people not to think about it, but then to show them the data, implying that they should look at it.” (Source: WebProNews)

Now, for SEO reasons or for ranking in Google’s index, PageRank has long been eunuchified by Google. However, even missing a few dangling bits, history has shown us, eunuchs still wheel tremendous power. PageRank is no different.

Regardless of what Google wants to happen, PageRank is still extremely important to anyone marketing on the web, especially if you’re selling SEO services or operating a web business. Try selling SEO services when that little green bar on your site is pointing to PR0 or worst yet, pointing to a solid gray bar.

Obtaining a high PR7 or PR8 simply means more business and revenues… regardless of how Google is or is not using PageRank. People know how to count and they learned long ago, a ten is a lot more than a big fat zero.

Placed against a PR1 site, a PR8 will win more respect in the eyes of potential clients and can produce enormous profits for the site owner and we won’t even mention the still widely practiced habit of selling links, which Google is desperately trying to stop. Total and full elimination of PageRank would be an honest start but it will still be an uphill, if not an unwinnable battle, for Google to fully eliminate link selling.

Even with my modest sites, I have turned down a small fortune by not selling text links on any of my sites. When I had a PR6 site instead of a PR4 – those link requests were nearly doubled. So one can easily understand Google’s position and the need to downplay PageRank, if they want to put even a small dent in all this link selling and buying, which is still running rampant on today’s web.

PageRank is Google’s creation, and unless they remove it fully from their system and the Google toolbar, then PageRank still Counts. Actually, in the whole scheme of marketing your website on the net, PageRank counts big time. And in more ways than one.

There are several reasons why you shouldn’t count PageRank out.

For years Google has been downplaying the important of PageRank and states it’s only one of about 200 ranking factors which determines how Google ranks its index for keywords. Obtaining top organic rankings for popular lucrative keywords in Google simply means money in the bank. Actually, even a movement of only one or two places on those first page SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) can make a major difference to any online marketer’s bottom line.

Now while you can have a lower PR number and still rank above other higher PR pages for your chosen keywords, I have even had many times when my PR drops but my actual SERPs rankings in Google goes up, mainly due to building related relevant backlinks. So PageRank counts little towards your keyword rankings but it can’t be totally dismissed.

Mainly because, even if PR is just one ranking factor, in close competitive keyword battles (I am presently fighting tooth and nail for some very choice keywords) just one ranking factor such as high PR can make the difference of whether or not you get to the top spot. Big dogs are still jumping and for those of us who know how to count, getting a number one spot in Google makes all the difference in the world.

Not only because Google controls roughly 80% of all search engine traffic, but more importantly Google has established unmatched credibility and brand recognition in the eyes of potential customers visiting your site. Web users trust Google. Web users look to Google for guidance and direction. Web users believe what Google is telling them. In the online world, rightly or wrongly, perception is everything.

As an online marketer, I am completely amazed each day at the marketing power Google now commands with web surfers and with the general population. Google is king of online search and no other search engine even comes close to Google.

PageRank is Google’s ranking system, and in the eyes of those who notice these things, it still wheels tremendous influence and power. By default, PageRank is Google’s opinion of your site, and web users can count (at least to 10) and if Google believes people are still not counting when it comes to PageRank, then they are fully mistaken.
