How to use Twitter to build your Opt-In Lists
Marketing on Twitter is one of the best ways to do so over the internet now that so many people use it to communicate with each other and spread the word about anything from what they are doing to getting the word out about products and services they like. The amount of information available on Twitter is endless. In order to make your attempts on Twitter worth your while you need to be able to market to your target demographic effectively. You want people to opt-in to your emails and services so building up the list of people who do so is one of the keys to being successful.
Twitter was originally intended to work for social media and interaction among people. Twitter is specifically designed to allow individuals to follow tens, hundreds, or even thousands of people through a feed. This feed instantly displays tweets from each of the people on the list so it can be hard to keep track of every single one and it is easy to miss one here and there. A lot of people also use direct messages to privately contact people through Twitter itself. It is also possible that someone may accidentally unfollow someone and not even notice that they’ve done so. It is easy to have technological glitches here and there.
Some of your followers may not be real followers too because people come and go on Twitter incredibly quickly. You may have 500 followers which sounds good but for all you know 200 of those accounts could have been abandoned months ago. You really have no way of knowing for sure unless you check them out individually so don’t be fooled by the numbers alone.
Twitter is all about being short and to the point. Each tweet has a limit of 140 characters so the first impression is the only impression whatsoever that viewers are going to see. You need to nail it the first time if you hope to do so at all. Some of the best marketers often have difficulty getting people interested with so few characters. You aren’t given additional headlines, sub titles, or pictures to help you get exposure and attention.
Sometimes people may get overwhelmed when they click on your link as well because the transition from twitter to the World Wide Web and individual webpages is vastly different. This is opposed to emails where you try to solicit individuals to subscribe because emails aren’t going to magically disappear as time goes on. They stay in the inbox until the user is ready to click them where tweets will seem like they come and go due to the vast number of people who produce new updates every single second.
You need to appeal to people and grab people right away by using the right wording and headline choices. Using the words free or appealing to the readers is what you need to do to get them into your sights. You can re-tweet your information every so often to keep the people visiting and signing up fresh.

Opt-in Leads and Real Time Leads generated in your own marketing system can help rocket your website(s) to new heights that you never imagined could be possible.

Opt-in Leads:
A good quality Opt-in lead should include the persons name, email address and in some cases a phone number. With a viable name and email address you can contact the individual or business with your current method of follow-up. A phone call is the most positive method of follow-up, however, use what ever method of follow up that has been effective for you. As stated above the Opt-in Lead is much cheaper to generate than a Real Time Lead, so as a business person you must make the determination of which kind of lead and what cost you are willing to expend for such a lead.
Use Both Opt-in and Real Time Leads:
As a small business owner you may opt to generate both kinds of leads and compare which is the most productive and cost effect in your particular business.
Real Time Leads vs. Opt-in Leads:
Understanding that Real Time Leads are in most cases only seconds old, your chance of successful conversion from a lead to a sale may be worth the difference in cost. The advantage here of course is you can contact that potential client immediately. Remember, phone contact in this scenario is by far the best way to follow-up and have the best chance of a successful closure of a sale.
Opt-in leads are normally 72 hours old or more. This lead may best be followed up by using your normal email follow-up. Only use your normal email follow-up procedures if you have experienced good results. Don’t hesitate to use the telephone to follow-up with the Opt-in leads also. Using the phone for follow-up will always be the best method to get the highest conversion ratio of leads to sales on any type of lead you may purchase or generate.
