Do I Really Need a Search Engine Optimization Specialist?
Do I Really Need a Search Engine Optimization Specialist?
Getting a Search Engine Optimization Specialist depends on what stage of development your website already is in. Many website owners err by creating the website first then hiring a Search Engine Optimization Specialist to implements his expertise so that the website ranked higher in search engines like Google and Yahoo! A much better way of using the services of a Search Engine Optimization Specialist is to hire him even as far back as the website design planning stage to get much better results.
How do you know if the Search Engine Optimization Specialist you hired is competent in this field? Your Search Engine Optimization Specialist might simply do the usual integration of multiple keywords and phrases with those keywords into the content of the website (and into the HTML coding as well). Since this Search Engine Optimization Specialist practice is already being done by many, the effectiveness of this tactic is watered down significantly.
Choose a Search Engine Optimization Specialist team that can write content for you, assess the statistics of the website, are well-versed in HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), know how Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can be applied to websites for different industries and occupations, and can monitor the latest on search engine developments for you. This may entail several skills so you know you’re getting more bang for your buck when you hire a Search Engine Optimization Specialist team.
It is important that your Search Engine Optimization Specialist team be aware of the difference between directory enhancement and a search engine optimization effort. Directory enhancement means your Search Engine Optimization Specialist team will select the categories under which your website seems to be most related to. The Search Engine Optimization Specialist team will then create concise descriptions about the content of your website (excluding the keyword stacking tactic which we mentioned earlier.) Search Engine Optimization, on the other hand, requires skills in the design, writing and then encoding into HTML of pages from your website so that your preferred search engines will rank your website highly enough so when Internet users search for certain keywords, your website will appear in the top search results.
The Search Engine Optimization Specialist should be able to tag for you the specific keywords and phrases which seem to be used most commonly in most Internet searches. A little known fact is that search engines do not use the same algorithms for very long – these search
engines actually switch to new algorithms frequently. This practice helps keep spamming Search Engine Optimization Specialist from mastering the search engines and allows them to produce better search results for Internet users over time. So, apparently your search engine ranking is not cast in stone and may need to be pursued constantly by your Search Engine Optimization Specialist to insure that people will find your website among the millions out there on the Net.
If the web page uncovered by the search engine spider seems to differ from the web page viewed by the end user, that web page will be deemed spam and your website will be eliminated from the search engine database. This is tantamount, actually, to copyright infringement
whose Search Engine Optimization Specialist rely on the cloaking practice to get away with their stratagem. Unfortunately for these people, search engines are trying to get the practice of cloaking by any Search Engine Optimization Specialist to be banned altogether because cloaking does not benefit the search engine and may even have detrimental side effects on search engines.
Some software programmers will even resort to taking content owned by another site and putting it on their client’s website so that the Search Engine Optimization Specialist team can create “gateway pages”. Never resort to this because it does not produce the optimal long-term results you are looking for. Rather, your website should be dependent on original and excellent content produced specifically for it, as well as a spider-friendly navigation system applicable for search engine usage.
The best way for your Search Engine Optimization Specialist to work for you is still dependent on the basics:
1) Create a well-planned and well-designed website
2) Create web pages that your audience can follow, and
3) Rely on a navigation system that both end users and search engines can follow and use.
4) Have a good strategy increase you link popularity.
If you follow these basics, you not only assist in your users’ search activities but you also make life easier for the search engines themselves. In short, choose a Search Engine Optimization Specialist that really knows how to optimize search results for you the right way, rather than resorting to illicit tactics. Illicit tactics may work for a short time, but in the long term will only give you a bad rep among search engines and the wide, wide world of website owners.
The Google Monitor Tools You need Fore Better Rankings
Here is a list of tools that help monitor a site’s standing with the three big search engines. This is not meant as a complete collection of tools, but rather a look at what is out there.
Google Site Information Page
There is a great deal of information on a site’s search engine standings that can be easily found directly through the search box on the Google home page. Simply typing in info:xyzsitenameandsuffix will bring up information like what sites Google considers to be similar and a list of all the sites that have linked to the site being searched as well as all sites that contain the site’s url regardless of it being a hyperlink or plain text. Even though the data from “info:” command is not always accurate and complete, it does give a quick and way to find out all of a site’s backlinks. The “site:” command is also useful for finding out which pages of a site has been indexed by Google’s Spider. Along with the “site:” feature, there are many other search and site monitors available from Google for free.
When was a Site Last Indexed by Google’s Spiders?
Google maintains an up-to-date index of every webpage in its search results through an automated program called the Google Spider. Whenever a page has been indexed, the Google Spider also keeps a copy of that particular page in its cache. Checking out a page’s cache date will also give the date of the last time that page was indexed through the Google Spider. Information on a page’s Google cache can be easily found through the “site:” command described above and also by putting in the site’s url into Google’s search box and running a search. It should be remembered that xyzsite.com and www.xyzsite.com are indexed and cached differently by Google, so both sites will have different cache times.
Yahoo Site Information
Yahoo’s has a service similar to Google’s “info:” tool in their Search Meta Words help page. The information obtained from the Meta Words pages are things like what sites are linking to the site being searched, what pages of the site are indexed by Yahoo Search, what pages were previously cached and more.
Site Information on MSN
Just like Yahoo and Google, Microsoft also offers a complete range of site monitor tools. Site owners can find data on about their site’s status with the web crawler at MSN Search’s and the time it was last indexed. MSN’s site:www.xyzsite.com works exactly like Google’s “info:” command. Typing that into a msn search box gives indexing data as well as when the last page was cached.
What is the Site’s Google Rank?
Google Rankings is just one of the many search monitors and site monitors offered by Google. Although using the Google Rankings service requires an API key, it allows webmasters to find their site’s search engine position in the top 40 to 1000 results for a keyword. Additionally, Google Rankings also shows a site’s rank on MSN and Yahoo’s search engines. Google Rankings forms part of a complete site monitoring package with another utility called the Ultimate SEO Tool. The Ultimate SEO Tool measures a site’s keyword density.
Check a Site’s Backlinks in Google
The Backlink Checker tool, found at LilEngine.com, is an ideal way for comparing the number of backlinks a site has compared to its competing sites. Although a larger number of backlinks a site possesses will improve the site’s page-rank, many other factors can also influence a site’s ultimate search engine position.
A Site’s Position in Yahoo Search
Yahoo Search Rankings comes from the same people who have brought Google Rankings and shows the site’s position in Yahoo’s top 1000 results for a given keyword. Yahoo’s Web API developer site contains even more search engine monitoring tools.
Google in Need of SEO
I had one of the best laughs of my life recently while reading a page explaining what Google’s homepage would look like if they had to SEO their site like everyone else.
It was beautiful, and I’m so jealous I didn’t think of it first.
So with that funny story firmly planted in my mind, we got an enquiry at SearchMasters coming from the search term “search engine“. Because we are optimised for “search engine optimisation“, by default we are optimised for “search engine” as well.
As I normally do, I went out and scoped out the SERPS to see what was happening…
Above: SearchMasters outranks google.co.nz for the term “search engine”
Outranked!
Funny how SearchMasters and others are beating Google for this phrase. Maybe if Google applied some of the SEO suggestions recommended in the above link, they could rank top for this term
Clearly there isn’t any bias being applied here – Google’s homepage isn’t optimised for this term, and it’s not ranking top as a result. Great to know we are (at least sometimes) operating on a level playing field.
Update
So after thinking it through, I thought it a little unfair to pick on Google over this one, so I decided to check out Yahoo and MSN as well.
Nuff said really. Out of the 3 major engines, Google is ranking itself best. Even Yahoo is listing Google as the first result, which says all kinds of things really. I kept these results to NZ only for consistency with the original Google result, but upon thinking about it, MSN probably doesn’t have a NZ site and could well be filtering itself out of the results. Yahoo on the other hand is branded as Yahoo Xtra, so one would assume this is a New Zealand site, or at least it should be.
If you search the worldwide versions of these phrases, you get all kinds of funny results. MSN lists every major search engine you can think of, except itself, on the top 10 results – Intresting SEO articles
5 Things You Need to Know About PPC Search Engines
The pay-per-click (PPC) search engines have formed a new way for websites to promote and boost traffic to their sites and it is very inexpensive. There are a variety of things on search engines PPC, you must know so read the following suggestions and educate you on PPC advertising. Once you know how pay-per-click advertising works, you’ll be able to use this tool affordable advertising to increase your website traffic.
Tip # 1 – Search Engines PPC
Also known as pay per click, these networks allows websites to place ads on their search pages targeting a keyword or phrase. The site owner does not have to pay for advertising unless a visitor clicks on the ad and is regarded as their web page. As a result, these search engines and advertisements are known as pay-per-click because you pay only when someone clicks on the ad.
Tip # 2 – bidding for ads
In general, when it comes to advertising PPC, you submit your maximum bid for advertising based on keywords you are interested in advertising. You will then be listed on the search page when your keyword or keywords are searched. However, when you rank in the bidding process will depend on whether you were the highest bidder, the second highest bidder, and so forth. For this type of campaign it is important that you are close to the page, at least in the first four, so keep this in mind when bidding.
Council No. 3 – Choosing a PPC Search Engine
Many search engines offer PPC advertising, but to get the most exposure obviously you want to advertise with the largest and most popular. You can search online to find out who are the best and then present your candidacy for the keywords you are interested in buying advertising. Remember that the bidding process is more competitive with the biggest search engines, to keep that spirit.
Council No. 4 – Click fraud
Since you pay per click with this type of advertising, you can run into a situation known as click fraud. This happens when your competitors click on your ad as many times as possible in order to manage your account dry. This eats your advertising budget and does not allow you to reach people who are really interested in what you sell. If you think this is the case, inform the PPC search engine immediately, because there are things that can be done to help.
Council No. 5 – Keywords
So you know the keywords that are most used to search for your product, but they are very popular and you find yourself entering a bidding war on a small budget. Don’t do. Instead, switch to a cheaper keyword. You will always receive a lot of success and you will not drain your budget.
What You Need To Know About Seo And Sem
These days, business is shifting terrains to the internet due to its wide reach around the globe. Many people have already begun to tap into the benefits of the internet to publicize their businesses. Many companies and businesses have made use of SEO to generate traffic to their websites. However, if you are about to join the team, you will have stiff competition, and that is where you will need the services of SEO and SEM professionals to make your business and/or products and services visible online.
What is SEO?
SEO is simply an acronym for Search Engine optimization, a term that has come to refer to the use of various forms to increase your visibility on top search engines around. The general idea of SEO and SEM is to increase your page ranking on the top search engines like Google, MSN and Yahoo. It is widely known that the more your websites page ranking, the more your chances of business transactions online and the more the possibility for maximum profit. The job of the professional SEO companies is to make your page ranking go up by boosting the SEO content of your articles. They select the best keywords that will ensure that your website shows up in a search related to your business. The online SEO companies in LA are quite affective at doing this. If you are considering employing their services for increasing your traffic, my advice is that you do it as fast as possible.
What about SEM?
SEM on the other hand refers to Search engine marketing. It is used to refer to those methods by which you increase your page ranking through the means of paid advertising. Here you pay the search engines to feature your website in related searches. This ensures that your website shows up at the top of related searches in your niche. It works on the basic principles of the PPC companies in LA, seeing that the idea if to strategically placing your website where you can gain adequate visibility and popularity. And like the SEO, the goal of SEM is to make use of quality keywords to popularize your website, and that is why you will still need the services of professionals who know the ins and outs of the entire process.
Now the question that you probably have in mind is: Is that it? SEO and SEM are only marketing strategies?
Maybe it seems like that, but it actually isnt. Look at it this way: you have a really cool business idea, or you have these products you are trying to sell, but nobody knows about it because nobody even knows you or your business exists at all. In essence, SEO and SEM are basically means by which you get to communicate to the world about your business ideas, products and services. Without the agency of SEO and SEM, your business would probably remain a nameless entity lurking on the fringes of the World Wide Web, with no one asking about or even knowing about its existence.
SEO and SEM, technically is the voice and publicity of your website.
Google Dance – What You Need to Know About It?
Google Dance is the term coined to describe the index update of the Google search engine. Though there is no fixed date or time for the update, it occurs once every month on an average. And while the update is on, there is significant activity and movement in search results, especially so in Googleâs cache of indexed web pages that mark the status of its last crawl. However, the index update is not about switching from one index on to another. Rather, the index update takes several days to get completed and during this time, the old and the new index alternate on Google. In the start, the new index results appear only once in a while but later on the frequency goes up until it stabilizes on a point.
This is why the term âGoogle Danceâ is used to refer to the index updates.
Technical Aspects of Google Dance
Google extracts its search results from more than 10,000 simple Linux servers. Index update cannot happen on all these servers simultaneously. The new index has to be updated on the servers one after another
There is a common misconception among webmasters that Google can actually control how the servers with the new index as well as the old index respond to search queries. However, because the Google index is inverse, it becomes a very complicated procedure. The fact is that Google does not control the search results during the index update phase. Rather, the whole movement of search results is because of how Google uses DNS (Domain Name System).
DNS â Domain Name System and Google Dance
All of Googleâs ten thousand servers are located across many different data centers across the world. For Google to direct traffic to all the data centers, it should record all the search queries centrally and then transport them to different data centers. However, the process can be highly inefficient. All data centers have their particular IP addresses and the DNS manages the access methodology of these IP addresses.
How does the DNS work?
Data is always transferred between specific IP addresses on the Internet. DNS supplies the information about which domain resolves to which IP address. When you enter a domain name into the address bar of your browser, a local name server contacts the name server of the concerned domain and gets the IP address for the same. The name server then caches the IP address in order to facilitate further communication. This way it the name server would not have to be contacted when the domain is visited again.
Data centers, DNS and Google index update share a crucial relationship. When the Google index update takes place, all the data centers donât receive the new index simultaneously. Rather, the new index is transferred to the data centers one after the other. Hence, when users search for something on Google, they can either receive results from data centers having the old index or they can get results from the ones having the new index depending on their geographical location. This is the reason for variance of search results during the Google Dance!
What is the Need of “search Engine Optimization Services (seo)”?
Search engine optimization or SEO is the art of placing your website in the first few pages of a search engine for a strategically defined set of keywords. In simple words it means that your website will appear on the first page of a search engine like Google, when someone searches for your product or service.
Why Search Engine Optimization?
Major search engines command over 400 million searches everyday, day after day. Search engine optimization (SEO) helps you get this piece of the pie, which you might be losing otherwise to your competition.
SEO offers a much better return on investment than other traditional forms of internet marketing like banner campaigns and email marketing.
SEO helps you capture targeted traffic… people who are already looking for the product or service you offer.
SEO is a long term and permanent answer to your traffic woes. Once a website has been optimized for search engines it can stay at the top for long periods of time.
The objective of Search Engine Optimization Services (SEO) is to increase web visitor counts by ranking very high in the results of searches using the most appropriate keywords describing the content of your site. This relative ranking is often viewed as a struggle to best use a few keywords, instead of a struggle to out-do your competition. If you search on your target keywords, you will see the leading site in the rankings. All you need to do is to be better than that number one site. This page suggests ways to optimize and improve search engine rankings with placement advice, SEO tips, information, hints, and clues to improve your search engine keywords relative to existing leaders. After all, better keyword ranking is your real objective.
It is not enough to simply add META tags and do search engine submission of your site to a million search engine indexes and directories. The first placement step in obtaining significant web visitor counts is to seek first-page search engine results. An early step is to build a great content-rich site. One of the last steps is the proper submission of your great site to the search engine or directory. In the middle is a step that is VITAL if you want to obtain front-page results. Most sites skim past this step because it is forgotten or too complex, but without competent Search Engine Optimization you are destined to be search engine fodder.
Search engine optimization services provided by Wizz O Tech are customized to fit your requirements keeping in perspective long term business goals. We work hard to maximize your return on investment in internet marketing and search engine optimization.
You Need to Know How Google Adsense Works
You have probably heard of people making thousands of dollars a month or even a day using Google Adsense alone. You even have built a website and stuffed it with Adsense thinking that it’s going to make you rich. For more help visit to: www.yourgoogleincome.com. As a matter of fact, building an Adsense site that generates a huge profit is not an easy job. There are many aspects that go into building a money making Adsense site.
First of all, you need to know how Google Adsense works. Individuals like you and me, or even companies, can use Google to advertise their products. The program where you can create your ads is called Google Ad words. For more detail go to: www.adsense-dollar-factory.com. Since there are many people creating ads using this system, Google needs help from others to put their ads on their sites. This is the reason why they created Google Adsense.
The main problem with this great program is that a website owner does not get paid simply by placing the ad on his page. He needs visitors to click on the ads in order for him to make money. There are many techniques and key factors that help optimizing your page to get the maximum click through rate.
First, you need to build your website around high paying keywords; these are used by advertisers to create their ads. Believe me; if you search the net to find high paying keywords you’ll stumble into lots of scam and very expensive informational marketing products that claim to have lists or software’s that give you that kind of information. Thankfully, there are some software’s which actually work and are updated in real time.
The second key factor to your success is to build your site around the ads in such a way where they should get the maximum click through rate. There are many courses and books published about this kind or technique. I found videos to be the best recourses for this kind of information.
The third and last but not least key factor is to have as much Traffic as you can get to your website. This is done in many different ways. First you can submit your sites burl to the search engines such as Yahoo and Google, the problem with this technique though is that it might take months for your site to be listed, and even then who knows where it would show up when people search for its keywords. For example, it might show up in the 100th page, this is why I personally don’t recommend doing this because it’s a waste of time.
Second, which is a must do is to do like what I’m doing here and write an article and submit it to article directory sites such as Ezinearticles.Goarticles. & Search warp. What you need to do here is to place your sites burl in the article so after it is published people can see it and click on the link to go to your page.
Finally, you can increase traffic by using SEO, search engine optimization, software’s that are designed specifically for this kind of task. You just plug in your sites burl into the program and let it do the rest.
So Do We Really Need Google,Yahoo.Aol?
It’s not so long ago that I used to subscribe to the notion that AOL and Yahoo believed they owned the Internet and had the right to control it. The over-the-top war on spam a clever smoke screen whilst out monitors were pumped with pop-ups that generated millions.
During the last couple of years however, it seems ownership of the Internet has been surrendered to a new overlord! And we should all point our prayer mats to face Mountain View CA. Or should we?
For those of us involved in any form of search engine optimization, we are led to believe that if our websites are not recognised and accepted by our new master, then we are doomed to failure. There are currently hundreds of tutorials available on the internet which offer tips, tricks and secret formulae in making our pages “Google-Friendly”, and in a format that is acceptable to this Search Engine Giant. Yet who knows what is acceptable to Google and what is not?
Google’s algorithm changes are becoming more and more unpredictable and this deceit presents the potential for high damage to your profitability at short notice. In their Company Profile, Google claims that their mission is to “organize the world’s information, and make it universally accessible and useful”. It is questionable however, as to whether their methods offer the world free and relevant results for any search term, or whether they in fact, only present information offered by those
Websites that adhere to Google’s ever changing and secretive rulebook.
Since only a fraction of the World Wide Web is indexed by the “world’s Leading Search Engine”, it’s not really rocket science to understand that the results offered in any Google search will not reflect the information available for that search term.
The Internet is there for all of us to enjoy. A free information system, with a level playing field when it comes to getting our websites noticed. Google’s agenda now seems to be to present information from the highest bidders rather than delivering quality information to it’s search pages. And what of “Google Ranking”? So much store is set by the importance of being ranked by Google, yet is it really that important?
For Example, lets say your interest is in Basket Weaving. You go to the Google Search page and enter “Basket Weaving”, hit the search button and… at No.2 on page 1 (a place we all dream of seeing our website for our main keyword) you will see “Underwater Basket Weaving”, a website with a Google page rank of 2/10 and showing limited information relevant to the requested search term. Now look at position 3 on page 1. Homecrafts Direct with a page rank of 0/10 and again quite limited in it’s relevancy. If you now go to page 8 (A place we are led to believe has little chance of being noticed) At position one on the day of writing is SimplyBaskets.com, a beautifully presented, informative webpage, with a Google Pagerank of 4/10, specializing in “Basket Weaving”. It is clear from this simple exercise, which can be demonstrated using practically any search term you choose, that Google’s awesome search techniques don’t really work as well as they would like to imagine they do. Perhaps it’s their own constant meddling of protocol that will eventually expose them.
So why do we need Google? Does being ranked by Google make a difference? It would appear that one of the biggest, if not the most visited website on the Internet, Amazon.com don’t fare any better than the rest of us where Google are concerned. They have a Google Pagerank of 0/10, and my Link Popularity Check software tells me that Google return no pages that link to Amazon.com – I find it difficult to believe that the “world’s Largest Search Engine” does not recognize it’s links back to Amazon.Com
The word Google is a play on the word “Googol”, the mathematical term for a 1 followed by 100 zeros, and whilst Google’s founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, coined it to reflect their company’s mission to organise an immense amount of information, I believe that the company’s new agenda is to organise that amount of dollars into their bank account.
I do however swear that they will get no help from me in so doing! I am now cured of my Google adoration fixation, and set about my SEO duties treating all search engines the same. One can do little more than present an informative, attractive and useful website, with Meta Tags to help all search engines. The Internet belongs to us all, and hopefully it will stay that way for the forseeable future.
Some Secrets You Need to Know to Rank High in SEO Optimization
Youâve probably created an awesome looking website, perhaps spent good money at it too. You may also have submitted this beautiful website to a few search engines and prayed and hoped that people would mysteriously show up at your side and buy whatever it is you were selling.
Well this may well be what many marketers did 10 years ago, but not anymore as youâve probably found out by now, hopefully not through the hard way. This is the reality today and you might even know that to optimize your website around your main keywords helps you to rank well in thousands of search engines.
There are just too much to cover in seo optimization but for interest of space and your time in deciphering what I have to impart to you, I will share with you some good seo tips and focus only on some important aspects of on-page optimization and off-page optimization, which are essentially the two types of search engine optimization, that you can immediately practiced and benefit.
On-page refers to things you can do to your own website. Off-page refers to the things that happen to your website from other sites (usually referring to incoming links from other sites), and therefore you may not have much control over this if you donât have good knowledge or strategy.
On page seo optimization essentially refers to:
Header tags â use and placing specific keywords within those tags
Title tag â your title tag, should contain your main keyword in the title tags
Bolding, italicizing, underlining your keywords that are found anywhere in the body of the webpage.
One misconception people sometimes have is putting too many keywords in the Meta Tags. This may not help in seo optimization at all. In fact it might even hurt you. Many people do not know that ideally the title tag should contain fewer than 100 characters while the keyword and description tags should contain fewer than 256 characters each. Most search engines will only consider data within these character ranges when indexing a web page.
On the contrary, some seo experts even suggest combining your keywords in the page title. Combining keywords to cut down on the total number of keywords displayed in the title is a great way to boost the strength of each individual keyword. This will greatly have an immediate impact on your seo ranking.
Having said all the good things about on-page optimization, and I agree that it is something every marketer really ought to do, you may still not see dramatic changes in the seo ranking. Itâs the off page optimization factors that will drive this eventual result.
Itâs for this reason that you should focus more on off-page optimization. While this is far more important of the two types of SEO optimization, it is also the harder of the two. Off page optimization basically consists of all off page ranking factors like:
Which websites and how many of them link to you
The Google page rank of the website linking to you
The page title of the website linking to you
The anchor text used in the link linking to you
The number and type of links linking to the website thatâs linking to you.
The number of outbound links on the website that is linking to you
The total number of links on the website that is linking to you
Whether or not the websites linking to you are deemed by Google as an authority website.
Link popularity and link development are related to off page optimization and there is just too much to go over in this article. What I can share with you here and it comes from many seo experts too, is that getting links from WebPages that contain your main keyword in the page title is extremely powerful and is something many people often overlook.
I hope that I Leave you with some good seo tips which you can immediately use, and be convinced that seo optimization, link development and keyword optimization are instrumental in bringing you free, natural and organic traffic to your website.
