Google Has Declared War On Affiliate Marketing
And they did it in a most unassuming manner.
Google has not formally announced its big news, but it now plans to offer to split commissions with Publishers making affiliates obsolete.
Why would publishers continue the additional work required when dealing with 1000 affiliates who are themselves promoting the publisher’s products on GOOGLE – when they can get one giant affiliate like GOOGLE instead?
And once again the rich get richer and the poor affiliates scratching out a living down here in the trenches will be left scrambling for the crumbs.
We are quite used to scrambling and jumping over each other to get the few crumbs that fall from the table of the big dogs – but now the situation will become much, much worse.
The program is called Conversion Optimizing. It is a pay-per-action model. GOOGLE is using all of the behavioral data they have collected on the web surfing population to target people based on their previous surfing habits.
It is also a cost-per-action model. If you tell GOOGLE, I will give you $ .50 per opt-in, they will target those most likely to want your product or service and shower them with your offers wherever they go online.
With each of the above models you must have 50 sales/opt-ins within a 3 day period before you can turn on Conversion Optimizing. And it can be turned on right in your Adwords acount.
The worse part is that using this affiliate-genocide plan the publisher can offer GOOGLE YOUR affiliate commission and get more guaranteed sales/optins on a regular basis. And since there is no love lost between publishers and affiliates – why wouldn’t they?
It works like this:
If you (the advertiser) specify a relatively low target Cost-Per-Conversion, the tool will place conservative bids on only those keywords that Google thinks are a sure-thing in terms of their probability to convert for you – the result will likely be cheaper conversions, yet fewer of them – essentially, it will only go after the “low hanging fruit”.
Conversely by specifying a relatively higher target Cost-Per-Conversion, the Conversion Optimizer will have the ability to bid more aggressively, and will compete for higher ad positions on a broader keyword terms, likely resulting in a greater number of conversions, but at a higher cost.
However, new keyword management and keyword analytics solutions can help fundamentally alter this Cost-Per-Conversion vs. Volume of Conversion trade-off – by focusing on relevancy and Quality Score, advertisers can potentially realize both more conversions at lower costs.
In order to be eligible to use Google Conversion Optimizer, you must be using Google Conversion Tracking, and you must have accrued a minimum of 30 conversions in the last month so that Google can use that conversion history to help optimize your bids.
As you can see, this is an excellent idea – for everyone except the affiliate.
Things are about to get really, really rough if you have been relying on affiliate marketing as your sole source of income. The bottom line is that you must have a product or you are out of business.

See if you can have your domain name as your keyword which ideally will be one that has a high search but low supply by anyone else. If you do that you will more likely be able to dominate for that keyword search.
TIP 3:
If the keyword isnt available as a .com (the best extension to buy) and is available as a .net and is a very good keyword, have a look at the .com website. Very often it wont exist because people buy them for resale or if the site does exist look and see if you can put together a better one. Either way, go ahead and buy the .net variant if it looks worth it. I have uncovered amazing keywords using the Google keyword tool that have a monthly worlwide search on 2 million with little competition! Most of my sites are at the top of Google for their chosen keywords and remain there because of these methods. I don’t have to do much to them for them to retain their position.
TIP 4:
If you find a high demand low supply keyword that has been bought as a domain for all variants you can still rank high for that keyword. Create a sub-page for your site and name that sub-page as that keyword. Then SEO that page for that keyword and you will see it on page 1 of Google within a week or two. I do this all the time.
TIP 5:
If you know server scripting, use a server side script with cronjobs to automatically ping all the search engines (or do it manually) on a periodic basic much like Wordpress does. Its not that difficult to use these scripts.
Ok so what affiliate product should you sell. Well say its a product by abc. Go to Alexa.com and type in abcs website and Alexa will tell you how popular that site is and trends. Some sites will have a very high % increase – 3000% or more (green arrow) and other will have a red arrow negative visitor trends. i use this method to decide what products to sell. You can also use “Google insight for trends”.
Always keep in mind that search engine optimization methods are important in developing your site’s status. Google AdSense is an awesome, amazing tool that can make you a lot of money for doing very little work. That is, once you understand it and the techniques that go into making it work for you. Google AdSense is a program through Google that has you put advertisements on your website and in return you will get paid every time someone clicks on one of the ads.
When I first began internet marketing I made the beginner mistake of just slapping ads where ever I wanted and expected them to make me money. But I found out that there is more to it than that.
One very basic tip is do not add Google AdSense to your website before it is finished. Google AdSense ads are generally based on the content of your website. If you put Google AdSense on a page that has nothing on it, Google will simply send random ads to that page. But it won’t change as soon as you update your page. It could be days or even weeks before Google crawls your site and tells AdSense to run a different set of ads that are more relevant to your site.
Another tip is to read the Google AdSense Terms of Service before you place your ads anywhere. In case you don’t want to read through all the legal mumbo-jumbo, here is a quick breakdown of what you can not do with Google AdSense:
Pornography, adult or mature content
Violent content
Content related to racial intolerance or advocacy against any individual, group or organisation
Excessive profanity
Hacking/cracking content
Gambling or casino-related content
Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia content
Sales of beer or hard alcohol
Sales of tobacco or tobacco-related products
Sales of prescription drugs
Sales of weapons or ammunition
Sales of products that are replicas or imitations of designer goods
Sales or distribution of coursework or student essays
Content regarding programs which compensate users for clicking ads or offers, performing searches, surfing websites or reading emails
Any other content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity or infringes on the legal rights of others ”
When I was new to internet marketing I hadn’t read Google AdSense’s TOS and made some mistakes. Luckily I caught them before Google did and saved my butt. Hopefully that list will help keep you out of trouble as well.
Google pays out once per month and you have to have a certain amount in your account otherwise it rolls over to the next month and you have to continue building on that amount. Even if you reach the amount where Google pays out, you still have to wait until the month is over to be paid. If you selected to get paid by check then you must have 0 built up in your account and Google will take for having to pay you by check. If you prefer to be paid via PayPal or direct deposit into your bank account then Google pays out at and there is no charge to you for that.

Whichever you are, for as long as you are a webmaster or a web publisher and you need cash, affiliate marketing may work well for you. With affiliate marketing, you may get a lot of cash pouring into your bank account easily. And if your website is rich in great contents and you want to earn more profit, why not get into the Google Adsense program as well?
Why Affiliate Marketing?
Well, simply because affiliate marketing is the easiest and probably the best way to earn profits online, unless otherwise you are a businessman and would rather sell your own products online than advertise other businessman’s products on your site. But even online retailers can benefit from affiliate marketing programs, because affiliate marketing actually works for merchants as well as it works for the affiliates.
Affiliate marketing, simply said, is a relationship or agreement made between two websites, with one site being the merchant’s website and the other being the affiliate’s site. In the relationship, the affiliate agrees to let the merchant advertise his products on the affiliate’s site. The merchant, on the other hand, would agree to pay the affiliate in whatever method they have agreed into. This would generally mean easy income for the affiliate, as he would do nothing but place the retailer’s ad on his site. This would also be very beneficial for the merchant, as getting affiliates to advertise their products would be a lot more affordable than hiring an advertising firm to promote their products.
There are a variety of methods on how the merchant would compensate the affiliate for his services, and for the webmaster, these methods simply translates to the method by which he would earn easy cash. Among the more common methods of compensation are the pay-per-click method, the pay-per-lead method, and the pay-per-sale method. The pay-per-click method is the method most preferred by affiliates, for their site’s visitor would only have to visit the advertiser’s site for them to gain money. The other two methods, on the other hand, are better preferred by merchants, as they would only have to compensate you if your visitor becomes one of their registrants or if the visitor would actually buy their products.
Getting much profit on affiliate marketing programs, however, does not depend so much on the compensation method is it does on the traffic generated by your site. A website that can attract more visitors would generally have the greater chance of profiting in affiliate marketing programs.
What about Google Adsense?
Google Adsense is actually some sort of an affiliate marketing program. In Google Adsense, Google act as the intermediary between the affiliates and the merchants. The merchant, or the advertiser, would simply sign up with Google and provide the latter with text ads pertaining to their products. These ads, which is actually a link to the advertiser’s website, would then appear on Google searches as well as on the websites owned by the affiliates, or by those webmasters who have signed up with the Google Adsense program.
While one can find a lot of similarities between Google Adsense and other affiliate marketing programs, you can also see a lot of differences. In Google Adsense, all the webmaster has to do is place a code on his website and Google takes care of the rest. The ads that Google would place on your site would generally be relevant to the content of your site. This would be advantageous both for you and for the advertiser, as the visitors of your site would more or less be actually interested with the products being advertised.
The Google Adsense program compensates the affiliate in a pay-per-click basis. The advertisers would pay Google a certain amount each time their ad on your site is clicked and Google would then forward this amount to you through checks, although only after Google have deducted their share of the amount. Google Adsense checks are usually delivered monthly. Also, the Google Adsense program provides webmasters with a tracking tool that allows you to monitor the earnings you actually get from a certain ad.
So, where do all of these lead us to?
Where else but to profits, profits and even more profits! Affiliate marketing programs and the Google Adsense program simply work, whether you are the merchant or the affiliate. For the merchant’s side, a lot of money can be saved if advertising effort is concentrated on affiliate marketing rather than on dealing with advertising firms. For the webmaster, you can easily gain a lot of profits just by doing what you do best, and that is by creating websites. And if you combine all your profits from both the Google Adsense program and other affiliate marketing programs, it would surely convert to a large amount of cash.

One of the major misconceptions that businesses have about search engine optimisation is that the end goal is ranking highly on Google – or other rival search engines.
While this is undoubtedly one of the main aims of search engine marketing, it is not the be all and end all. There is another far more important consideration – the actual number of sales leads and conversions created by an SEO campaign.
According to industry expert Stephen Chapman, one of the major concerns that SEO agencies have is that businesses often get hung-up on a set of very specific keywords that will rank highly but are unlikely to be searched for by internet users.
While it can be easy to get obscure phrases to the top of Google search engine results pages, if no one is actually looking for those specific keywords then the effort is wasted.
Writing for ZDNet, Mr Chapman claimed that while generating leads is not the responsibility of an SEO agency, it should be something that is raised with clients that are adamant on ranking for very obscure key phrases. This can be done with three simple words – return on investment.
Companies can end up wasting a lot of cash if they stick to their guns and push ahead with a search engine marketing campaign that doesn’t generate leads.
“Unfortunately, there are those who will always attribute total SEO success to the ranking of a keyword that they’ve grown personally attached to,” Mr Chapman wrote.
He added that equally unfortunately, there were a huge number of unscrupulous SEO companies out there that would happily take businesses’ hard-earned cash and get them high rankings for perfectly useless keywords.
“That’s not how your approach to SEO should be, though. If you have a bunch of keywords that someone gets you ranked for but they do nothing to help you, you’re going to think SEO just didn’t work,” he concluded.
His comments come hot on the heels of industry expert Ray Comstock’s suggestion that businesses should work closely with their chosen third-party SEO agency to ensure their search engine marketing activity is offering concrete results.
Writing for SES Magazine, Mr Comstock claimed that the insight and experience offered by SEO experts should not be overlooked.

So a website does not guarantee top positions even if you have a very large website. All it matters is the type of keywords you are targeting and the kind of your article, website layout etc. It must be of user interest.
2. If you having a small website, you are with more ease and can handle it easily. Let’s say you have a small website. Do the internal linking properly. It is not necessary to give link to all pages from every page. The best strategy is to keep the number of links down.
3. Make a sitemap for your website. If you do not know how to make it, you can use Sitemap Generator that are available free of cost. Search free sitemap generator in google and make it. If you want to make it yourself, make it using the following method – http://www.sitemaps.org/protocol.php. Once you are done, link to your site map from your footer and also submit it to Google at www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/. By doing so you are telling Google about your pages and it is 99% guarantee that all those pages will get indexed. By listing your sitemap on your website, you are helping google as well as other search engines to crawl your website properly
4. Have a nice presentation and as well as navigation for your site. It does not means that you have a nice website presentation. Presentation should be such that it attracts visitor to checkout more pages and re visit your website. Your webpage should ask for user feedback/ comment and your web page should have sections like related articles or random articles or articles in blog or recent topics from forums or your testimonials. This way you are creating an interest in the reader.
5. Of course you have created your website to make money so place Google ads in such positions that it does not give an appearance of totally an ad site. They should be placed nicely. Best positions for google adsense are right menu, 300 x 250 in text ads, at the bottom or at the top. If you are selling products, place them nicely related to the page.
6. Your website url should contain the keywords of your article. This will make it more searchable. Do not make dynamic created urls like index.php/124254?353 etc
7. Make a good title of your web pages. It is very important part of your website not only for users but also for search engines. Do not over look this. Your title should not be stuffed with keywords and commas. Only list 1-2 keywords in your title.
8. If you have a small website, make proper meta tags and a nice description. Do not stuff keywords in them.
9. Interlink your web pages through keywords within the article. Google loves this.
10. Highlight important keywords of your webpage. Make the titles and sub headings in the body of the webpage in h1, h2 tags. This tells google about the importance of this title with the page.
