Nuts and Bolts of Search Engines

Nuts and Bolts of Search Engines

Yahoo!

Yahoo is an example of a topical search engine (also sometimes referred to as a vertical search engine). The methodology of a topical search engine is to focus on specific industries, sectors or topics. Yahoo is still a 100% human edited directory, with secondary search engine results generated through Google. That, of course, means that a good listing in Google will also mean visitors from Yahoo as well. Yahoo is still one of the largest traffic generators around, in terms of search engines and web directories. A listing with Yahoo involves “suggesting” a URL, which is then reviewed by a Yahoo editor (find the proper category and click on the “suggest a site” link at the bottom of Yahoo’s home page). Unfortunately, the listing process at Yahoo can take quite some time before your site gets recommended.

As an advertiser, marketer, business owner or website owner, you’ll need to know how all this applies to you. The first thing you’ll need to do is to get your site listed in the Yahoo directory where it’s a good fit.

You can go ahead and get your site listed through the above method, which can take some time and doesn’t have any guarantees.

The other option is Yahoo’s Express Service for expedited listings. Express has a 9 annual fee, with a guarantee that it will be reviewed within seven days – but no guarantees that it will make it into directory listings. Once you are listed in a directory, though, the upgrade to “featured” status is pretty easy. There will be a monthly fee involved, from to 0 per month depending on the directory that your site is placed in. Listing fees only require a credit card number, and your monthly fee will automatically be charged to the card.

A featured listing does appear up top in the directory, so you won’t have to worry about your site being buried somewhere deep down in the listings. Coupled with an attractive, well-optimized site, this could go a long way toward your marketing goals. Featured listings, of course, also mean targeted advertising, which means people who are already on the search for your product or service being steered your way. The fixed cost of an upfront buy followed by a regular monthly charge can also be a help when it comes to staying within your marketing budget (while still trying for a reach to as many customers as possible.). Yahoo also offers banner ads (through My Display Ads), with easy-to-customize ads using their own design tools. Yahoo’s banner ads can be narrowed down to specific geographic areas, site-content categories and target demographics, along with various daily costs. Their costs can be broken down into pay per click or pay per impression, and Yahoo offers daily reports on clicks, impressions and conversions.

As for optimization …

Along with featured listings, another surefire way to up your status on Yahoo is to buy keywords through Overture, Yahoo’s subsidiary. Yahoo/Overture’s pay per click model sells keywords pertaining to your business, and results from web searches for your specific keywords will appear in your Yahoo Sponsor Results box. The Overture distribution network also takes in many other top portal sites and search engines, including CNN.com, AltaVista and MSN.

Dogpile / Webcrawler

Dogpile is an example of a meta-search engine (also known as a federated search). Meta search engines scour several other databases and/or search engines, then compiles the results into a single list or displays each one according to source. The idea of a meta-search engine is that the Web is too vast for any one search engine to do an adequate job of indexing all of it; more comprehensive and complete results can be seen from aggregating results from several search engines.

The results of meta-search engines can vary, but they can still take in more of the web at once than any single stand-alone search engine. The other side of the coin is that the results can be less relevant; meta-search engines don’t have direct access to the databases of the search engines they’re pulling information from, and don’t know the “alchemy” that goes into their rankings.

Google / AltaVista

Google and AltaVista fall into the category of open search engines.

A Google search is actually a series of localized websites. A typical Google search will bring you definition links to dictionary sites and Wikipedia, links to other searches (i.e. if Google believes one of your words to be misspelled) and many, many others. Google will typically break up your query into a sequence of search terms, unless you put quotation marks around a phrase (telling Google to look for the entire phrase rather than one word at a time). Google’s Advanced Search feature allows other information to be figured into the search (such as date of first retrieval) to narrow down search results.

Google has evolved into one of the web’s biggest web portals, with a staggering number of extra features such as:

Weather
Stock quotes
Sports scores
Unit of measure conversion
Currency conversion
Maps
Synonym search
U.S. Government website search
Travel data and airport info

Since Google has come to dominate the search engine field so completely, the research (and speculation) on its search criteria has turned into an entire industry. Since much of the Google methodology for search engine ranking is a closely kept trade secret (to keep unscrupulous webmasters from manipulating results) and Google changes their 200-plus factors for rank regularly, much of it remains speculation. The following, however, is pretty certain when it comes to Google rank:

Google’s crawlers (or spiders) look at on-page factors such as H1 heading elements, keywords in copy, image alt attribute values and title elements
The crawlers look at off-page optimization factors like anchor text and keywords in URLs
The crawlers like fresh content (forums, blogs, articles, etc) a lot better than older stale content
Quality inbound links to your site can help page rank greatly

This is a gross oversimplification – of course there’s a lot more to it than that.

But the general idea is to work with Google’s relevance algorithm by using all these factors and more. Google does make the basics of these principles public; they’ve published guidelines for website owners or webmasters to use when they’d like to raise their rankings by working along with SEO consultants.

So …

Those are some of the basics of how search engines work and how you can get the most out of them. Yahoo, Dogpile and Google all operate on different principles and methodologies, but they all keep their methodologies fairly consistent. Each has their pros and cons for website owners and their own nuts-and-bolts when it comes to listings, relevance and optimization. But with some study, some consultation with a knowledgeable SEO specialist and a fair amount of trial-and-error, you can figure out how to use them all to help your business and boost your web presence.

How to Quickly and Easily Find Telecom Information Using Internet Search Engines

How to Quickly and Easily Find Telecom Information Using Internet Search Engines

The development of the Internet has enabled almost anyone access to virtually every piece of information known to human civilization. A few key strokes and mouse clicks can uncover practically any compilation of information you desire – and have it delivered directly to your desktop computer or laptop.

Google and other search engines such as Yahoo and MSN are constantly updating search algorithms to provide relevant search results to billions of Internet users across the globe. But as good as these search engines have become, a vast number of Internet users still find searching the Internet to be a slightly frustrating and daunting task.

Having the extent of human knowledge at your fingertips does not always result in finding what you want. For example, a Google search for the term “telecommunications” brings up a whopping 109,000,000 results!

No one has the time or patience to sift through that much information. Fortunately, there are simple search tricks that you can use right now to quickly and easily find telecommunications (or any other) information.

How to Search Using Quotes, Parentheses, Positives and Negatives

Google, MSN and Yahoo have allowed for “shortcuts” within their search engine structure to help users narrow down the search results they provide. Making internet search a more friendly experience requires users to know just a few.

The most basic of these shortcuts are the use of quotations, positives and negatives. Used in conjunction with search phrases, these commands help zero in on relevant search results very quickly.

For example, say you want to search the Internet using the term: voip phone system. Entering those words into Google returns over 45,000,000 results. Placing quotations marks around these same words tells Google to search by “phrase”, not just the individual words themselves. Searching by phrase narrows this search to just over 1 million results.

Adding positives (+) and/or negatives (-) to a search term will help focus search results even more. For example, if you would like to find a VoIP phone system from Cisco and not Packet 8, you would type: “voip phone system” +cisco -packet 8

The minus (-) sign eliminates any search results that refer to Packet 8, and include all search results that contain Cisco.

If finding VoIP phone systems from EITHER Cisco OR Packet 8 is desired, it is best to use the either/or command (parentheses) in your search. Keep in mind that all of these commands are completely interchangeable and can be used in conjunction with each other depending on how specific you would like search results to be returned. A search for a VoIP phone system by either Cisco or Packet8, but NOT Ebay listings would require entering this into Google: “voip phone system” (cisco, packet 8) -ebay

These simple tricks will save you hours of time and considerable frustration when searching for exactly what you want. The following are more ways to find specific file types and information from only ONE website – without even having to go that website to search.

How to Search for Specific File Types of Information

For the most part, Google returns search results in the form of web pages (html) or “sites” where the information resides. Although they are getting better at including file types other than html pages into their search results (e.g. PDF, mpg, mp3, .doc, .xls), they are still years away from being intuitive enough to know exactly the type of files you are searching for when you enter a search phrase. The best way to help Google return what you want is to tell it what file type you desire.

For example, there are literally thousands of white papers written on almost every telecom topic imaginable. Vendors shell out big bucks to develop informative and comprehensive white papers on a variety of telecom topics, primarily for marketing purposes. The majority of these documents are not thinly disguised sales pitches however. More often than not they are chalked full of highly informative content. White papers come in very handy when researching and/or learning about a specific telecom topic.

To find these available telecom white papers with ease, simply enter filetype:pdf after your search phrase. If you are searching for a white paper on the topic of “voip phone systems” your search phrase in Google would require this: “voip phone systems” filetype:PDF

Google returns 358 results as of this writing.

Not specific enough?

Try entering allintitle: before the search term. This will tell Google to only return PDF files that contain “voip phone systems” in the TITLE of the document. This search brings up only six results.

Use this trick to find other file types such as Word files (doc), mp3s (mp3) and even Excel files (xls). A search for VoIP phone systems in Word document format would require: “voip phone systems” filetype: doc An Excel spreadsheet file would require: “voip phone systems” filetype:xls

How to Search Only One Website

Many websites contain search features that allow visitors to search for topics within that website alone. But what if you want to search for a topic on one specific site and the site contains no search capabilities on it?

Use the site: command directly into Google search fields.

For example, say you want to quickly search mobiletracker.net (a popular and massive cell phone blog) for anything to do with Nextel in the title of the blog post – but you do not want anything to be returned with word “Motorola” in the title. This Google search would require entering the following search string:

allintitle:Nextel site:mobiletracker.net -Motorola for a total of 93 search results.

Let Google Come To You Using Google “Alerts”

It is now possible to let Google search come to you via email when information is added to the Internet that contains a topic or phrase that interests you. Introducing: Google Alerts. Google Alerts is a free service that allows you to inform Google of a topic or phrase that you desire to be continuously kept up to date. Google will then send you an e-mail when anything is added to the Internet that contains that topic or search phrase.

You will need a Google account (free) to set up these alerts, but once you do, information on your topic will be sent to you at the time intervals you desire – daily, “as it happens”, or weekly. You can also specify where you want this information to come from: the web, news, blogs, video, Google groups or a comprehensive search of any and all of them.

When setting up your Google alerts, be very specific using the methods covered in this newsletter. Use the commands allintitle, quotations, positives and negatives wherever possible. By doing so, you will not only cut down on the amount of emails you receive, but they will be tightly focused and on topic as well.

The Internet contains a vast array of telecommunications information just waiting to be found and used for your benefit. Spend just a few minutes a day honing your Internet search skills and the payoff will be well worth it.

Googles Amit Singhal talks about search engines dreams are made of

Googles Amit Singhal talks about search engines dreams are made of

Is Googles algorithms electric sleep? For a little insight into what makes a search engine, which has become a verb noted recently participated in a talk by Amit Singhal, one of the chief engineers. Amit is part of a team responsible for tweaking and improving the ranking algorithms of Google and 20 years of experience when it comes to sorting through the data, including the allocation of time to even tens of years spent in academia and on the ball in Mountain View. , What did he tell us the main focus of his aspirations when he started in 1990, but the way that Google will take action to meet each of these goals is fun and interesting things(or as we call it here, meat ). So do not put on your eyeglass reading and join us past the break.Google Fellow Amit Singhal discusses the evolution of search

Two major challenges of information retrieval, says Amit, are the size and delays. In particular, this means how much data is available instantly, on the one hand, and how long it takes you to collect it, on the other. An unusual example he gave them was to imagine sitting by the fire with his grandfather. You may not have the full works of Shakespeare at your fingertips, but the delay to order, what information you are looking for is practically non-existent(depending on your gramps is enough). On the other hand, imagine yourself in the library or legal engineering needs a vague reference, and will face the opposite problem, where information is abundant, but so is the time taken to acquire it.
Google and the development of the Internet have jointly taken the sting from both of these issues, but can and is done. Googles goal is to create a All Information generally is possible, and where data are not only hanging on the web looking for a polite, said Amit Google create it. That is why we have Google Maps, Google Earth, and even Google Books. Well, its feelgood official version of why we have them those Googlers have a captivating way of making everything seem so rosy and wonderful, that even if they are right, we are suspicious. Anyway, Amit dreams are aimed at further opportunities, and we listed them below in ascending order of difficulty.

1 Search beyond text. Amit points out that while Google is crawling around and cracked a challenge to find well-known in the form of letters, words and passages, there is still a lot more information out there that does not come packaged in the form of text. Google Video search options, was initiated in order to take into account that, although initially the algorithm was quite stupid. Image search, for example, still rely on the finding in the vicinity of the text whether in the subtitles, headings, etc. and match the users search query. Today, colors, shapes and other optical searches covered by Amit get something described as a(still basic) form of computer vision algorithms.
2 Search beyond language. is a kind of obvious, but not the whole world speaks and writes in English. Google can sort your search results in that language, for example, we received the results of slaughter ratatouille recipes that were not written in French, and of course, if Google Translate for the chance to interpret the contents of the other results.
3 Search that knows me. Creating a search requires appropriate tailoring, which makes filtering Google results at national level first, and now seeks to expand its relatively new feature of social search. Provided you can be bothered to log on and link your Twitter account to your Google ID, the results get settled with commentary from the people to keep. Ergo, if you are looking for advice on a specific problem, friends can jump without you even talk to him. Good luck!
4 Search now. Real time search is something Google was introduced in December last year and this is simply a bunch of gathering information from Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, blog feeds, news sites and index the results with Caffeine . The results, according to Amit, is that Google is considerably shortens the time between the article was published and that you are able to access it. He cited an example of the new search up-to-the-minute earthquake, identification within 90 seconds it happens, and the relevant agency, the U.S. took 12 minutes to update your website with the news. Signal to noise ratio problem still a problem of this nascent innovation, but does not give Amit and notes there is a reason why nobody else can offer a comparable search: Since it is difficult. Its crazy hard!
5 Search, which understands the meaning. is where it gets more difficult, because the computers still do not have any real understanding of what they are doing. Keep the data at one end, some results of the resignation of others, but the machine is not even smarter about what she had done. Amit threw for example, the word change, which depending on what data you want to find may mean that you want to change, modify, convert, exchange, modify, install, or replace something, all of which are nuances of expression that Google understands. But what is most impressive is the fact that monkeys are not required to input data to punch in all the connotations of the word variable in Googlebrain the contexts of meaning is almost entirely developed on the basis of algorithms. Smells like a first step towards susceptibility to us.

6 Searching without a search. Amit finished off by teasing us with their vision, where information retrieval should directs. He stressed that it is not Googles plan or something that is feasible today, while stressing that this is done to protect your privacy and control as the number one problem. His vision of less searches, and then focuses on a combination of all these additional services that Google is developing to deliver timely and relevant information without having to ask for it.
The example illustrates this well. Imagine that you have to buy a new cricket bat, because the old is corrupt and what youll have an hour of free time between meetings one day. The phone knows about shopping needs as they are in the list of things to do and it knows about the meeting because they are on schedule. All you need is your town(which, of course, is), and some local area information, and itll ping you a message that you can just pop down the road, get the wooden stick, and will be in time for the hours Fourteenth Division of the Marta Synergy.
If this sounds like a phone babying you and potentially control of your life, you are attuned to such frequency that we are. We point Amit, our devices have come nowhere close to maxing out the interview, or a tool that can extract from them, but this seems just another step in its excessive dependence on technology. Most people today do not remember the phone number of his friends despite being in constant contact with them and the correct spelling is growing largely unfounded, when doing a Google search with all those very smart(okay, sometimes too stupid to be true) proposals. So this is a beautiful dream and all, but I kinda like things on the front of the search are: functional, predictable and not too flashy.

Why You Should Go for Search Engine Optimization in Three Search Engines

Why You Should Go for Search Engine Optimization in Three Search Engines

When you talk about search engine optimization, you would usually associate it with Google. After all, it’s the best search engine in the world, isn’t it? It has the highest traffic among all search engines, and perhaps the biggest network. So popular it is that “Google” has just been accepted in Merriam-Webster Dictionary as a verb.

It is also considered as an authority when it comes to websites. Google has perhaps the most stringent rules when it comes to indexing your web pages. They have too many requirements in terms of relevance, keyword use, keyword density, number of web pages, size of your website, inbound links, and a whole lot more. That’s why if your website gets listed in Google, then it means that you can already be trusted by Internet users.

However, you should keep in mind that Google is not the only search engine in the World Wide Web today. You also have two major websites called Yahoo and MSN. If you want to take advantage of traffic, page rank, and great visibility for your web pages, you should aspire on optimizing your website for these three search engines.

Why Is It Important?

As mentioned, Google possesses the longest list of requirements for indexing. Hence, it will definitely take months before you can have some of your pages included in their database. Moreover, your page rank doesn’t start at high scores such as 3 5o 5. At the very least, you’d get 1 or 2, unless you have already built excellent inbound links, well-optimized contents, and validated HTML codes. This means that your web pages don’t really appear on the first pages of search results at the start.

You need to optimize your website for Yahoo and MSN as form of leverage. While you’re waiting to climb to the top in Google, you can benefit from the high traffic and good placement that these two search engines offer to Internet marketers. Besides, you can never really underestimate the traffic that these search engines can give you. They still have millions of Internet visitors every day.

How Can You Perform Tri-SEO?

Since you’re dealing with three different search engines with varied algorithms, it would be quite difficult for you to perform search engine optimization. For one, you have to be mindful of any new rules that each of these search engines implement. If you have not been paying attention, you could be penalized, and you would lose your chances of getting your web pages indexed immediately.

Because of the complexity, you may want to leave the search engine optimization to an expert. In Dallas, there would always be an SEO company that can help you with tri-SEO. Their specialists understand the different rules set up by these three search engines and can find common grounds, so their optimization strategies can already apply for Google, Yahoo, and MSN. They can also keep track of your website’s progress to make sure that you’re getting traffic and excellent page rank from these search engines.

Doing search engine optimization in Google, Yahoo, and MSN is hard. That’s why it’s a lot advisable to leave it to the hands of an SEO company that has spent years enhancing websites for these three search engines.

Optimizing For Different Search Engines!

Optimizing For Different Search Engines!

Optimizing for Different Search Engines!

Many times in the web site optimization process we all seem to forget that there are three major search engines we should consider. We all understand that Google is the leader when a person thinks of search engines and the term “Google It” has become a household phrase. Yahoo has acquired about 25% of the market and some reports that MSN has earned from 10-15% of the market. Even though MSN’s share of the market is less than the other engines, the users of MSN are truly loyal.

The algorithms of MSN are different than Google and Yahoo, however, there are some rules in the various engines that are used by all the search engines. Just because you rank well with Google and Yahoo, you may not rank well with MSN because of some of their algorithm differences. If you are optimizing specifically for MSN ranking, make sure you keep an eye on your Google and Yahoo rankings. Ranking on top with MSN will likely be ranked low with Google. For online effectiveness you would be wise to have Google on top and MSN on the bottom. The secret here is to build your site with a proper structures that will work with all the big three of the top search engines.

There are specific reasons why this happens. Even though the web site pages spidered by the different engines may be the same, the different algorithms used by the various engines will produce a different search result. All search engines will spider a page and then index the information into their database….then applies their algorithms to the pages spidered and ranks you accordingly.

It appears on the surface that the MSN algorithm is not as advanced as Google and Yahoo, however, that philosophy will be challenged by some experts. MSN focuses more on the metatags than Google and Yahoo. Even though metatags are important to all engines, MSN places a lot of credence on the use of metatags. There are differences between the search engines in the use of keywords. It appears that MSN places more emphasis on keywords than the competition does.

Even though MSN puts more emphasis on keywords than the other engines, be very cautious of not over doing the keyword aspects on your web site source code as well as the keywords in your content. Make sure you don’t over do the keyword density for the sake of MSN and then be penalized by Google. Make sure you understand the ratio the individual engines are looking for. Anymore than 5-7% ratio with Google may cause you some problems…..over doing it here could even get you banned on Google. If you make one page for Google and another for MSN….Google may nail you for duplicate content. Do some research here and know what your limitations are before you over do anything in this process. There is a balance that must be maintained here, so if you don’t understand this process, seek the help of a professional optimization specialist.

One important point here is that if you build your site to please MSN and stuff your source code and web content with keywords, you may do well with MSN, but be in trouble with Google. However, if your site is optimized correctly you will do well with Google, rank well with Yahoo plus have a respectable position with MSN. You may have to experiment a bit with the proper balance for your site depending on how your site is structured right now.

Well written Meta Tags are an important part of all the different search engine algorithms. Since MSN puts more emphasis on Meta Tags than the other engines, some thought when writing your metatags will help you gain popularity with all the engines. Note….do not keyword stuff your metatags….use some good common sense here…it will save you some bitter consequences later on.

Some advise on the descriptive metatag in your source code is vitally important. This is one of the key factors MSN uses to classify your web site. Leaving this area blank will eliminate any chance of getting recognized by MSN. If you leave the Content=”" section in the source code empty in your site you have just sealed any chance of making any kind of internet presence with the search engines.

I bet you said YES!

Well… your in luck because that’s the sole purpose of a “Feeder Page”.

Now, the question that I found that usually arises with “Feeder Pages” is How-To build them correctly.

This was the exact question I had myself when I was first came across this type of website Traffic Generation and is why I’m writing this article.

So, with that said, I hope by the time you finish reading this article you’ll have a good idea yourself of the steps neccessary on How-To build quality “Feeder Pages” of your own that will send you FREE targeted search engine traffic and generate you some Google Adsense revenue as well.

Lets get started. Go to Tip #1.

Tip #1. Make your “Feeder Pages” theme based.

This is an important tip. You must make your “Feeder Pages” the same theme as the rest of your website. What I mean by that is, same template, same navigation, same links, copyright, etc.

By doing this it won’t seem as obvious to your visitor that its a generated page of some sort and will give you a better chance of them clicking through to your main sale pages.

Tip #2. Put quality Keyword Rich content on your pages.

This is yet another important tip you must consider and that is putting quality Keyword Targeted content on your “Feeder Pages” that targets your audience.

Why?

Because you are building these pages for the search engines and since roughly 85% of Internet surfers use search engines as their primary tool for locating the information they’re looking for your going to want to have Quality Content related to your Product or Service waiting for them to draw them in when they find your link within the search engine listings.

Tip #3. Add links back to your website or affiliate site.

This next tip is pretty straight forward. All you need to do is put either a Text Ad(recommended) or some Banner Ads within the “Feeder Pages” in Highly Visible areas and link them back to your main website or Affiliate website.

This is the whole purpose of building these pages in the first place.

Tip #4. Placing your Google Adsense code for $$CASH$$.

Since your doing all this work to generate traffic to your main website why not profit EVEN MORE by adding 3 blocks of Google Adsense code to your “Feeder Pages” just in case your visitor decides not to click through to your website or affiliate site.

And since your “Feeder Pages” have quality Keyword Targeted content on them, your Google Adsense Ads will display targeted ads.

The best places to put your 3 blocks of Google Adsense code is right at the top under your Header graphic if you have one. The next best place is in the upper left sidebar. And the last place is either within the content itself or at the end of the article.

These positions all depend on how you build your “Feeder Pages”, so make sure you plan out where you want to put your Google Adsense code in advance for Maximum PROFIT!

Tip #5. Add an RSS feed to your “Feeder Pages”.

Okay. Here’s the last tip I’m going to share and that is, add an RSS(Real Simple Syndication) feed to your “Feeder Pages”.

By doing this you’ll be putting your “Feeder Pages” on Autopilot, 24/7.

Why an RSS feed?

Simple. RSS feeds deliver and syndicate fresh content, so if you have an RSS feed on your “Feeder Pages” your content will be updated ‘Automatically’ which will then trigger the search engine spiders to schedule routine visits back to your website for more indexing.

Well… there you have it in a nutshell folks.

If you follow what I have outlined above you’ll be on your way to FREE targeted search engine traffic and Google Adsense $$PROFITS$$.

These are just some quality tips I wanted to share with you from my own experience to help you Maximize your efforts if you decide to use this type of Traffic Generation, and to also help take away the Trial and Error process.

Get Into Bed With Google & Other Search Engines – Top SEO Tips

Get Into Bed With Google & Other Search Engines – Top SEO Tips

Is your Website stuck on page one hundred and something in Google, or any other Search Engine for that matter? Well, if so you’re not alone. In actual fact most Websites will appear somewhere in the belly region of Search Engine rankings because they haven’t been optimized properly.

Unfortunately, just because you’re Website looks like the ‘dog’s danglies’ it doesn’t mean that’s what the Search Engines will think. In all honestly if you haven’t optimized your Website properly then you might as well not of bothered creating it in the first place.

Search Engine results hold the key to your Website and potential business either failing or succeeding. Get it right and you will have a constant stream, maybe flood of traffic on a daily basis for a long time to come. However, get it wrong and you’ll be the only person to visit.

So what can we do it make sure our Website appears on the first page of Search Engines like Google, MSN and Yahoo. Well I hate to shatter all those Search Engine Optimization experts’ dreams out there, but in theory it’s not difficult to achieve. I say theory because Search Engines are constantly evolving and what might be up to date and current now may well be old news tomorrow. That said, there are basic optimization tips we can administer that seem to remain constant in all Search Engines.

Search Engines love fresh original content. So if you’ve stuck load of extracts from articles all over your Website and are wondering why you’re not seeing much traffic. The chances are that other Websites are using that very same article and the Search Engines may have penalised your Website for displaying duplicate content. Always try to write fresh and original content, it may take longer but in the end you’ll be rewarded for your efforts.

Select Keyword Phrases that aren’t as popular, but will still yield significant traffic if you optimize your Website for them. Don’t go for the most searched for Keywords. Although this may seem like a good idea, it isn’t. By optimizing your Website for the most popular keyword phrases you’ll find that competition is extremely fierce and you won’t improve your ranking at all if you do.

Make sure you place your most popular keyword phrase within the title of your Webpage, as well as scattering it throughout the body of your page too. Don’t go mad as you don’t want to be spamming your keywords.
