I’ve been testing the Google pay per click advertising system for a while, with much success. These tips will help you create ads that generate higher click through rates, and lower cost per click.

1. Target The Right Audience

Target the right audience by selecting the language and countries that you want to target. For example, I exclude all countries where English is not understood by a large percentage of the population.

2. Refine Your Keywords

Use square brackets “[...]” around your keyword/s.

For example:

[google adwords]

Your ad will only show when the search is for the exact keyword phrase you have included within the brackets.

The ad will not show for searches that include other keywords. In our example, this would be for searches such as “google search,” or “google news.”

3. Test Multiple Ads Simultaneously

Always test 2 (or more) ads simultaneously. This is what is known in the print industry as an A/B split test.

Find out which one produces the higher click through ratio. Then replace the weaker performing ad with a new one.

Continue this process in your never-ending quest to get the highest click through ratio possible.

4. Track The Return-On-Investment Of Each Ad

If an ad is for a specific product or service, create a landing page for the ad. Include relevant and useful information to convert the customer. Generally, a well designed landing page will almost always convert more visitors than if you simply sent the visitor to the home page.

11. Remove Common Words

Remove common words, such as “a, an, in, on, it, of, etc.” Remove every word that does not absolutely need to be in the ad. Make every word count.

12. Deter Freebie Hunters

Deter freebie hunters by including the price of the product or service at the end of the ad. This will improve your overall conversion ratio and lower your average customer acquisition cost.

This may reduce your click through ratio, but that’s OK. After all, you’re not trying to target every body, only potential customers. In most cases, freebie hunters will never become paying customers.

Then I started analyzing on costing and ad placements. I found that my CTR – Click thru rate is only about 40% to 50% which is not so good for profit. Later, started placing ad in different directions and with different sizes of ads.

I found most of big banner ads on the top of the page and medium rectangular ad inbetween the content working fine. My CTR went up around 65%. which is reasonably good. However, CTR around 70% is said to be very good for good profit. Even after 65% of CTR I was not able to make much profit. There was something wrong with my website. No, actually, there was excess investment towards adwords.

Hence, I started working on Adowrds costing vs. Adsense earnings. I found that, I was paying to Adwords equivalent to what I was getting from Adsense. This was my main key point for profit. Finally, I selected some low cost keywords from Adwords and fixed CPC lower than the adsense CPC. Now, I am getting reasonable profits.

Finally, we shall conclude with the understanding that for earning good profit from adsense it is just not enough working on ad placement and ad campaign but it is also equally important working on costs.

Except in this case you want people to buy your book – not just read what you’re written and made available for free. So in addition to following people who might be interested in your topic and sharing information connected to your topic, you might:

- Tweet a link every so often to a chapter of your book.

- Offer a discount on the book price to people on Twitter.

- Do a joint project with another author in which some people get your book free when buying the other author’s book and vice versa – a certain number of people who buy your book get the other author’s book for free.

Effective Twitter marketing strategies for a business:

In your case we can assume that your goal is more than a one-time purchase. You want to create relationships with people who will hopefully be your customers/clientele over a long period of time.

For you, effective Twitter marketing strategies include many of the above steps plus a clear-cut demonstration of your knowledge base. This knowledge base can be demonstrated by:

- Responding to questions asked on Twitter in your area of expertise. You don’t have to give away the entire store, but you do need to try to answer the question and/or provide a link to where the answer can be found.

- Tweeting links to information provided by people in the same field as you are. This indicates a willingness to share and especially demonstrates that you are comfortable sharing information of others in your same field.

- Offering special discounts to people on Twitter.

In conclusion, you must not give up after only a few weeks because the strategies haven’t produced massive results. You have to sincerely commit to consistently implementing your strategies long-term if you hope to have effective Twitter marketing strategies.
