Internet Marketer’s Dream: 8 Productivity Tips for Firefox Browser Users
Internet Marketer’s Dream: 8 Productivity Tips for Firefox Browser Users
Here are 8 productivity tips specifically for Mozilla Firefox users when the requirement is âsimply a browserâ.
1) SearchStatus. Set yourself up so that youâll know everything you need to know about your sites and your competitors. It displays the Google PageRank, Alexa rank and complete ranking anywhere in your browser, along with fast keyword density analyzer, keyword and nofollow highlighting, backward and related links, other Alexa info and SEO tools. This tip alone could save your hours of âlook upâ time.
2) Alexa Sparky. Other immediate, in-depth competitor analysis can be had when you install Sparky. Sparky is a free FireFox browser plug-in built by Alexa, that accompanies you as you surf, providing useful information about the sites you visit without interrupting your Web browsing. Specifically:
- Learn about Website Traffic Trend information. Is this site getting more popular, or less popular?
- Get detailed traffic information including Reach and Rank. How does this site’s traffic compare to other sites on the Web?
- Surf more efficiently with Related Links for each page. If I like this site, are there others that I might want to visit?
Plus surfing your own sites with this plug-in activated helps improve your Alexa score!
3) Google Global Firefox Extension. Learn to view Google results by country. This plug-in tells you everything you need to know about your competition in other countries. Ever want to see what people in other countries are seeing for a particular search in Google? For example, let’s say you are based in the USA and you want to know what people in the Canada are searching for.
If you travel to another country, your default Google search page is usually that country’s top level domain (i.e. Google.it if in Italy ). The same tool can be used when traveling overseas to view Google results of your home country.
4) Browser Window Resizer. View the way your advertisers and clients see your site. You may have a massive flat panel monitor but what are you displaying in 1024×768 mode? First, check your web logs and analyze the majority of viewersâ video resolution. Chances are it’s 1024×768.
The Browser Window Resizer is also useful tool for testing different screen sizes. It accurately resizes your browser so you can view if the web page looks right in all of the standard resolution sizes. Window resizer supports the 640×480, 800×600, 1024×768, 1280×1024 video modes.
As far as your advertisers are concerned, there are 2 important reasons:
- Your right column may not be properly displayed without the viewer scrolling the horizontal bar.
- If you advertise or publish banner ads “above the fold”, make sure it’s visible to the highest amount of readers.
5) FireFTP. Use it to upload files fast, free, anywhere. FireFTP is a free, secure, cross-platform FTP client for Firefox which provides easy and intuitive access to FTP servers. Very handy if you are traveling and don’t have your local FTP software on your PC or laptop!
6) Pick up exactly where you left off. Simply open all your tabs from last session, automatically. You donât even need a tool. It is a setting to have all your open web pages restored each time you restart Firefox.
Go to Tools, Options, Startup box. When Firefox starts, select “Show my windows and tabs from last time”.
7) ColorfulTabs. This is a simple but powerful tab management tool to organize your day using tasks, and overall, spark up your tabs. Simply choose a specific color for each tab, and then assign a task or project to each tab. Besides being rather pretty, the pastel tint options are actually easier on the eyes: something important for a pair of lookers who surf and write all day long.
Adsense Notifier. Do you need to visually see your wealth increasing at frequent intervals? If so, apply this plug-in to display your Adsense earnings on the Firefox statusbar. Of course, anyone watching over your shoulder can see your massive earnings too! Nonetheless, to see this âcash registerâ working might be all you need to stay focused at work.
Using these tips, I literally save several minutes each day many times over, which easily clocks up to be an hour, in which I can do other things.
Google and Pagerank-search Engine Optimization’s Dream Team
On September 7 1998, two Stanford University students, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, co-founded Google, a company they started as part of a research project in January 1996. On August 19, 2004 Google had its first public offering, the one point six-seven billion dollars it raised gave it a net worth of twenty-tree billion dollars. As of December 31, 2006 the Mountain View, California based internet search and online advertising company Google Inc. had over ten thousand full time employees. With a 50.8% market share, Google was the most used internet search engine at the end of 2006.
When Larry Page and Sergey Brin began creating Google it was based on the hypothesis that a search engine that could analyze the relationships between the different websites could get better results then the techniques that already existed. In the beginning the system used back links to estimate a websites importance causing its creators to name it Backrub.
Pleased with the results the search engine had on the Stanford University’s website the two students registered the domain google.com on September 14, 1997. A year after registering the domain name Google Inc was incorporated.
Google began to sell advertisements associated with keyword searches in 2000. By using text based advertisements Google was able to maintain an uncluttered page design that encouraged maximum page loading speed. Google sold the keywords based on a combination of clickthroughs and price bids. Bidding on the keywords started at five cents a click.
Google’s simple design quickly attracted a large population of loyal internet users.
Google’s success has allowed it the freedom to create tools and services such as Web applications, business solutions, and advertising networks for the general public and its expanding business environment.
In 2000 Google launched its advertising creation, AdWords. For a monthly fee Google would both set up and then manage a companies advertising campaign. Google relies on AdWords for the bulk of its revenue. AdWords offers its clients pay-per-click advertising. AdWords provides adverting for local, national, and international distribution. AdWords is able to define several important factors in keywords when and ad is first created to determine how much a client will pay-per-click, if the ad is eligible for ad auction, and how the ad ranks in the auction if it is eligible.
By following a set of guidelines provided by Google, webmasters can ensure that Google’s web crawlers are able to find, index, and rank their websites.
Google offers a variety of webmaster tools that help provide information about add sites, updates, and sitemaps. Google’s webmaster tools will provide statistics and error information about a site. The Google sitemaps will help webmasters know what mages are present on the website.
The major factor behind Google’s success is its web search services. Google uses Page Rank for its search engine optimization program. Page rank is a link analysis algorithm that assigns a numerical weight to every single element of a hyperlinked set of documents, like the World Wide Web. Its purpose is to measure the relative importance within the set. PageRank is a registered trademark of Google. Stanford University owns PageRank’s patent.
Avoid Hidden Text If Your Dream is to Get Higher Page Rankings
In any Internet search engine optimization endeavor, hidden text has often been conceived as a challenge faced by search engines and webmasters. As spammers have shown a great inclination towards hidden text to stuff keywords into their pages to get high rankings on search engines, search engines are now figuring out when and how spammers do it. However, there are a number of hidden texts some of which are even tried by web designers for legitimate reasons that have nothing to do with the business of getting high ranking on a search engine like that of Google.
Also known as ‘invisible’ or ‘fake’ text, hidden text on a web page is visible to search engines but not to website visitors. Most commonly, hidden text is created by setting the font color same as the background color thus making the text invisible unless the user highlights it. There are some other ways to create hidden texts which are:
By setting the font size to 0 or to a negative number. By using noscript text like <script type=”text/javascript”> <!– [removed](“This text is not hidden”) //–> </script> <noscript>This is hidden text</noscript>
Often web sites use hidden text to disguise spoilers for readers who do not wish to read that text. Hidden text in online activity is also used to hide data from users who are less internet-savvy. And as it has already been stated, hidden text is one of the favorite tools for spammers that they implement to get higher ranks in search engines. However, search engine major Google has taken bold steps to prevent this spamming effort by parsing the color of text as it indexes it. Therefore a search engine optimization specialist will never encourage you to go for these tactics. Because of Google’s initiative against spamming, Search engine optimization companies are now concentrating on the genuine tactics for getting higher search engine rankings, not on hidden text.
Twitter: A Marketer’s Dream Come True
Twitter: A Marketer’s Dream Come True
by PD McCloud
Over the past several years, we’ve seen dot.com’s come and go. We’ve watched dot.com moguls go from rags to riches, and back to rags again. So what makes Twitter.com so different? Or, could it be that it’s future is not as bright as most think it is? Of course, if I was any good at fortune telling, I’d be able to answer that. I’m not, and I won’t try. I do know this for a fact though – Twitter.com has provided the network marketer with a seemingly endless source of customers. Hence, a marketer’s dream come true.
What a marketer does with his/her twitter.com account is altogether different from the normal method of internet marketing. Instead of flooding email boxes with ads, the typical twitter client can expect to see a myriad of ads when they log on to their account. What seperates the good marketer from the spamming marketer? A good marketer will know what to advertise. Know the users that are seeing the ads. Will distribute the ads evenly. A spammer? Well, the ads are not targeted, they are more or less grabbed from thin air and shoved in front as many people as they can get the ad in front of. All the while, having no clue as to what it is they are actually selling, nor to whom they are trying to sell it too. Shotgunning is what I call it. If you throw enough pellets out of the barrel of a gun, one of them is bound to hit something. The spammer’s mentality.
For those who are seriously interested in Social Marketing, Twitter.com provides a perfect place to either begin or continue your marketing efforts. There are approximately 12 million people from around the world who log into thier twitter account each week. People from all walks of life, from the teenager board with doing their homework to the celebrity’s updating their fans. Each and everyone of these are potential customers. Customers you may not have found anywhere else. In a sense, you could say that 12 million people walk into your store ever single week. I think only Walmart could make that claim, on a global basis of course.
One of the most important things you’ll need to do is build up your followers. In twitter world, these are people who follow your tweets, or messages. Getting to know thousands of people in a relatively short time span is rather difficult but there are programs that help in that regard. The best program I have found for building one’s list of followers is Tweet Tank. With this program you not only get the software needed to generate hundreds, or thousands of followers, you get specific instructions on how to use it effectively and without triggering the alarms at twitter.com signaling suspicious activity. That will get your account suspended, halting your efforts. But Tweet Tank will show you through video how to use their tool to benefit you to the max.
Another really super program is a must for anyone who wants to be a Twitter marketer. SocialOomph.com is your management source. With SocialOomph, you can schedule your ads so that they go out at specific times. Of course, you can’t be online 24/7 (you have to sleep sometime). This is where SocialOomph comes in as a necessity. You can configure your ad(s) to go out automatically. Set it and forget it. This tool is invaluable to the social network marketer.
I use both of these tools extensively. One other tool I use very often is free. A group of network marketing guru’s got together and put their two-cents into a program that is free to use, for as long as you want. In fact, I highly recommend this one because of the invaluable information you are going to get. And, you have a chance to make some real serious money with this website and it’s offerings. I won’t let the cat out of the bag though. You’ll be pleasantly surprised to find it useful, refreshing and very rewarding! I’ll just call it my special weapon. It will not only build your knowledge of internet marketing, it has the potential to provide some very nice monetary rewards of you just follow directions. Can you follow directions? If so, then click here, My Special Weapon.
Until the next edition, happy twittering and may the gods look favorably on your social network marketing efforts. By the way, don’t forget to add me to your list of followers. PD McCloud
