Getting your site indexed by Google must be one of the easiest taskes to learn when doing SEO. It is absolutely essential to have your site indexed as without your site appearing in Google’s searches you may as well not have a website.

There are a number of ways to get a website indexed by Google, some are Excellent and some are terrible. I will start with the bad ones first.

1) Go to Google’s Add URL page and fill in the form.

This technique does work. However, it can take up to 6 weeks for your website to be indexed by Google. This technique is not recommended, I would even go so far to say that you should NEVER use the Add URL form.

2) Use a Variety of Automation Software to submit your site to hundreds of search engines.

This technique does not work very well for a number of reasons.
The main reason is that some software resubmits to websites over and over again. This can get your website banned before you even start. Avoid using Auto Submission software at all costs.

3) The Only Way to Submit to Search Engines is to get backlinks to your site!

This is certainly the best way to get your site indexed by Google and the fastest too. All you have to do is get a website with a Page Rank (PR) of 5 or more to link to your site and your website will appear in the search results in 3 days or less.
Also, there is no chance of your site being banned and you won’t have to wait weeks and weeks for your site to appear in the search results.

By getting a single backlink to your site, all of the major search engines will be able to find your website. These include Google, Yahoo, MSN & Ask Jeeves.

There are two keys to getting a high ranking

Make sure to put the most searched keywords in your title & headings.

Now you need to go about getting other websites to link to yours. You need to find websites related to yours but sites that are not in competition with you and email the webmasters of these sites and ask them for a link.

When you gather 50 or 60 keywords go into Google and type in the search phrases you have found. If there are over 6million results for your phrase my opinion would be move on, there is too much competition for the phrase and it would take either years of work or getting very lucky and having some very powerful sites link to yours.

Focus on phrases with less then 2million results in Google. These are the keywords you need to focus on. Just check wordtracker and overture and make sure they are getting some traffic every month. 

Once you have decided on your keywords. You need to make sure these keywords feature all over the body of you website.

Make sure to put the most searched keywords in your title & headings.

Now you need to go about getting other websites to link to yours. You need to find websites related to yours but sites that are not in competition with and email the webmasters of these sites and ask them for a link.

To find sites that will give you a link I recommend doing the following.

Find a competitors website and find the sites that are linking to them. To do this simply visit http://www.marketleap.com/publinkpop/

Type in the website address of your competitor and you will be able to see all the sites that link to them. These are the webmasters you need to contact.

Simply write them a personalized email, complement their site and ask them for a link exchange. If you can offer them something in return – even better!

From Page rank 0 to Page Rank 3 – How did my Article Directory Site get PR3 within 46 days? Yeah, that was amazing for me too when I discovered this happy news.

So let me share my success story in all details with everyone who is trying to get a higher page rank for his/her site.

You can achieve the same or even much better results by implementing exactly what I did. 

It all began from searching for do-follow blog commenting service for my article directory site to get a higher rank in a shorter time. But after a long search I understood that some of these services sell low-quality or no-follow blog commenting, while the rest charge high price for quality do-follow backlinks.

Therefore I decided myself to deeply search and find dofollow blog commenting page links online.

But I got very frustrated and tired every time when I found “do-follow” link list of nofollow or dropped PR blogs.

Besides, I needed single PR commenting pages to comment on them with the link to my site. But the lists I found while searching on Google provided only domain pages.

My second attempt was to search for a special membership site that would provide valuable dofollow page links on a monthly basis.

So in this way, it took me more than 1 month to find valid, high-quality dofollow blog commenting pages. After compiling these links in March, 2009, I didn’t use them for a while, as I was very busy with my offline work. Therefore I could use them only on 25th April for my Article All About site, domain name of which was registered at the end of March.

So recently on 15th June, when I checked the PR of my site, I was shocked: it gained PR3. This is only within 46 days and without any paid or free promotion!

To be honest, it might have got this pagerank much before than 15th June. The truth is that I first checked it only on this date.

Page rank or “PageRank” can be something of a mystery to most of us but why and how do we achieve it? Not every website has a PageRank but why is that? And why should it be given as “PageRank” and not “page rank”?

However, if you’re working in a more highly embattled area, PageRank is of much more importance and that will also be discussed in a later article. The most important thing essentially, is how to get a high PageRank working on a scale from one to ten where ten is almost impossible, unless you happen to be Google. A PageRank of five is considered to be a pretty good rank for your average webmaster and therefore, a worthwhile target. We shall be looking in later articles in the series at how to get to PageRank 5 in just 90 days.
