Google AdSense: 7 Tips For Creating Sites That Make Money by: Neil Bartlett

Having a Google AdSense site is a great way to make money. And to create an AdSense site, all you have to do is have a Google AdSense account (which is free), a website or a blog (which is free), and some articles (which are free if you write them yourself). Once you get your site up and running, the AdSense ads will be targeted to your content.

Therefore, those looking for your content will come by, read your articles, and have a high probability of being interested in the targeted ads. Every time someone clicks an ad, you get paid! That is, as long as you have designed your site to maximize AdSense clickthroughs!

Let’s look at seven tips for creating AdSense sites that create money.

#1: Keyword Density

Before you place ads on your site, be sure your keyword density is good. You will want to be sure that the right kinds of ads are placed on your site. A free way to determine what the ads will look like on your site is to go to http://www.resultsgenerator.com/adsense/ and type in your keywords. You will then be able to see exactly what ads would show on your site.

If you don’t like what you see, then you know that you need to make changes to your keywords! You can get keyword suggestions from Results Generator from Overture or from the free trial version of Word Tracker.

#2: Focused

Not only will the ads be based on your keywords, but they will also be based on your content. You definitely want your keywords and your content to match as closely as possible.

#3: Write Often

The more information you have the better. Why? Because the more content you have, the more visitors you get. Many people suggest that you write a new article every day since no one wants to come back to your site to find the same old messages!

#4: Choose The Right Format

AdSense allows you to choose many different ad formats. Research has shown that wider ads are more successful. The top three formats are:

” 336×280 large rectangle
” 300×250 medium rectangle
” 160×600 wide skyscraper

Additionally, the 468×15 horizontal ad link under the navigation bar is also a good bet.

#5: Color Counts

You have the option to create a Google AdSense ad in any color of your choice. The best thing to do is to make your ad blend well with your site color scheme. You should make the border color and the background color the same color as your web site. You will want your text color to either be black or the color of your main content.

When creating your Google AdSense ads it is recommended to use the color scheme and style of your website so that the ads blend in well. Ads without background color and borders perfom better than ads within borders with background color.

#6: Position Counts, Too

It is well known that visitors to a website scan the site to determine if it is worth reading. You definitely want them to see and scan your AdSense ads. Therefore, the best place to put them is in the top left part of your page or directly under your headlines.

#7: Increase The Number

AdSense allows you to use up to three AdSense units on a page, two AdSense search boxes, and one unit of ad links. Using all that you can increases the chances of earning money.

Keep these seven tips in mind when creating your AdSense site and you will find that your clickthrough rates increase, thus increasing your money making potential.

Creating A Twitter Marketing Plan For Your Small Business

Even as Facebook was just becoming a household name, Twitter burst onto the scene, and has rapidly become one of the hottest social networking sites on the web today. While the Twitter community was designed for social interaction just like personal texting, it didn’t take Internet marketers long to recognize a goldmine when they saw it. But like every marketing method, even Twitter can give you bad results if you don’t do the right things. For those who follow some practical, helpful tips before starting to use Twitter, these types of missteps are certainly avoidable. As a social platform, Twitter is extremely public, and that can give your business a lot of exposure very easily. Remember that you need to be very careful when you use Twitter as a marketing tool; Twitter is first and foremost a social creature. We will cover a number of pitfalls to watch out for while marketing with Twitter in this article.

The biggest mistake people make when using Twitter for promotion is to use it to send out spam–tweets that will be ignored by the Twitter community due to their nature. Your tweets are like conversations you have at a dinner table, they are short and simple but convey a lot. The majority of people who are logging on to Twitter are there to socialize and enjoy themselves with like-minded people. If someone on Twitter gets promotional spam from someone they’ve never even tweeted before it’s an instant negative and you’re out the door. Your tweets need to have a benefit for those on your followers list and shouldn’t be blatant sales pitches. Your tweets should be helpful and of some benefit to other people. Of course that doesn’t mean you aren’t able to promote through your tweets. You just need to provide your followers with a significant value before you send them marketing tweets. If most of your tweets are helpful ideas and suggestions, and you recommend a product here and there, you’re going to be off to a good start and the results will start adding up. With suggestions and endorsements instead of hard core advertising, you can effectively market with Twitter. Be sure to put a human face to your account with Twitter as people always prefer to interact with other folks, not any corporate entity. If you keep it real and give people helpful information, they will buy your products and services.

You will probably receive direct direct messages or replies from your customers; be sure to answer them personally. If you don’t you’ll look bad, as though you only care about yourself and the product you’re pushing. By taking notice of their questions and providing adequate replies, you will prove that you bring a sincere concern for your audience. Ignoring your messages and your customers is certain to blemish your reputation and turn your followers away from you. Understand your prospect and treating them with respect should be your top priority. Of utmost importance is the vital call to action. The real goal here is to use Twitter to market your business and create sales. If you make an offer at the correct time, after you’ve given your followers something of value things should go your way. After all, consumers will only purchase from you if your product meets their current need.

Creating Communities For Twitter Marketing

If you were to analyze your buyers and your clients at this given moment you would observer something very intriguing – they are all dissipated. The people who buy your products don’t connect with one another, they feel alone and it’s quite easy to lose them.

Why do you think TV shows have so many real fans? Because they interact with one another. They have forum, blogs and may other means of interacting. If they would think they are the only ones watching that series they would feel like losers, feel lonely and stop watching.

As a marketer you first of all want to attract clients, but even more you want and need to keep the ones which you already have. Losing a client is much worse than attracting none. When you;re using traditional marketing strategies it’s quite hard to stick with your fans. But this is where Twitter comes in!

With Twitter all your followers see each other, interact with one another and maybe even start following each other. What can be better than that? Imagine two of your clients talking. One has just purchased something from you. Any discussion will lead to the other wanting to but the product as well. Why? Because the first one wants to show off. He is proud of his new acquisition and he wants to let everyone know that he’s got something new. So he will never say “Aww.. This thing I’ve bought is lame.”. You will much rather hear him exaggerating the features he likes than talking about the ones which he doesn’t. So what Twitter does for you is make people sell your products for you.

On the short term you will increase your sales significantly. Each new sale will usually attract other sales as well and so on. So you will definitely see an improvement there. You will also get in contact with the people buying from you. You can find out what they like and what they don’t. You will know exactly what the market wants and needs and which features of your products you should change.

On the long term you will keep your fans together in a community and this way you will lower the probability of actually losing them. Nothing can maintain fondness like bonding and association. Think of a great leader. If people who like that leader wouldn’t organize and talk to each other they would end up losing interest in that person.

Use Twitter as a marketing tool and you will obtain great results both for the short term and the long term, results which would otherwise be unachievable. Twitter marketing is about minimizing your investment and maximizing your results. So start building your community!

If you are anything like me, site design is a pain. However I really feel it’s vital to know a little bit to web site creation if you want a presence on the web. In this article I’ll explain how anyone can make a profit pulling website using totally free resources online which Google loves.

My Number One Landing Page Resource…

The award goes to Squidoo. I’m a massive fan of Squidoo for a range of reasons.

Squidoo permits you to make a selling page to build your list or simply to study a product as an affiliate. Done properly Squidoo is an absolute critical to your affiliate arsenal. Here are a range of reasons why you must use Squidoo as an affiliate :

one. You can get a Google ranking as long as you target the right keyphrases and update your lens.

two. Squidoo has high Google Page Rank of 8

three. You can sell and promote yourself without any restrictions.

4. You can use to Squidoo as an affiliate to promote or review a product

five. You can link to your main website/ blog or to an affiliate product.

6. Build your list via an opt in box.

I know from some of my subscribers that cost is an element when starting out. Squidoo is my advice because it’s incredibly flexible and tough in Google’s eyes.

If you master Squidoo you can begin to build a significant income. However it’s not a case of simply making a landing page. Ping and pitch your lens. Create a blog on your niche and link to your Squidoo lander page. Post comments on other races lenses, and you will start to see some traffic.

Do this doggedly and watch your traffic grow. Afterall sending traffic to a high converting offer is what good marketing is all about. Whether you are promoting yourself, or promoting as an affiliate, getting a grip on landing page creation and basic copywriting will put you well on your way to establishing credibility and earning a solid income stream with Landing Page Templates.
.

If you have set your hopes of earning cash by placing Google Adsense ads on your directory, then you simply on the wrong track. Directories are of no use for you if you intend to use them to earn money through Adsense, but there are some other dimensions and you do not face a dead-end. You can create some other money-making opportunities through your directory which can help you get a stable source of income.

What directories are all about?

Directories are like storage places or an online library which is home of web content, which includes articles, audio and video files, news archives and web links to other websites. Directories can be set up independently while there are also some which comprise part of a group of websites maintained on a bigger host. The primary reason why people move towards directories is either to submit content or links to their websites, or to seek for them.

A web directory has much more in store for you, than you think. They have many benefits some of which are:

Directories pull huge traffic:

Any webmaster recognizes the importance of attracting visitors in money making. Once your directory is up and running writers and webmasters will pay you frequent visits, for submitting content and links to their websites. If you know how to convert traffic into cash, then this is an ideal scenario for you. You can charge for submission of links, in recognition of your marketing services, and soon your income will start to generate.

Directories Can Directly Earn You Cash:

Charging for links can be a good source to earn through your directory, but having a sound reputation and frequent traffic, are two pre-requisites which must be there. But you can also directly earn through your directory by getting paid for links if you have a good PageRank. This will be a win-win situation for you and other websites, as they will use your directory’s popularity to their advantage, while you will get paid.

Reciprocal Links – Tool for Earning and Increasing Relevancy:

Directories also allow users to submit reciprocal links, which are used to bring people back to your website. If your directory enjoys high ranking, then you will get more and more reciprocal links, increasing your income and improving the relevancy for your directory to have better chances of getting detected by a search engine.

Creating a Directory Is Easier Than You Think:

Creating a directory is much easier than most people perceive it to be. You can either do it by using HTML, while the task gets even more trivial, if you use an application like WordPad, FrontPage or DreamWeaver. If you have some good knowledge about scripts and their usage, then you can simply build a MySQL database to create a directory. There are many free scripts available online to create directories easily and instantly, so you can also resort to them if you want to.

Subject Matter of Your Directory:

It is also important to define the topics to include in your directory, as it will keep your mind clear. Most people post a variety of topics in their directories like Insurance, Finance, Employment, Travel, Politics, Games, and Fiction etc.

You can also use a more concentrated approach in order to attract a section of audience instead of making efforts to pull everyone. You can dedicate your directory to a specific field or topic, and then only post relevant content. It can immensely help you succeed in catching the attention of more people.

Unique Content Is the Order of the Day:

In order to increase your PageRank, you need to post original content in your directory, which is not to be found on other directories or websites. As the content posted in your directory will be originated from different websites; therefore, it cannot be called unique content.

To include unique content in your directory, you should regularly post articles written by yourself. You can even hire writers to produce quality content for your directory. This will increase the traffic volume on your directory and improve its popularity.

Pick a Compatible Webhost:

As you will be presenting your directory on a page that is hosted, so it is essential that you check with your web host for some options. You should get an account with a webhost, which will allow you sufficient space to store data. One such webhost is Hostgator.com, which offers a space of 50GB for a monthly fee of $7, while you can also open an account with more disk space. You can get up to 100GB of disk space to store data in return of monthly charges of $10.

You will find many webhosts on the web, and by comparing their fees and facilities, you can pick up the best which is compatible with the needs of your directory.

If your goal is to earn money from Google Adsense through content or article directories, you’re better off setting your sights elsewhere. Directories are not high performers when it comes to Google Adsense ads and if you expect a good stream of income from these, you’re bound to get disappointed. However, there are other things that you can expect from creating directories and if you look closely, they could be your ticket to finding a good source of revenue.

What directories can offer you

Online directories are repositories of Web content; usually articles, write-ups, news, video and audio clips or links to other websites. They can be part of a group of sites found on a larger host site or they can be independent. People go to these sites either to submit content and links or to find them.

Directories are beneficial in several ways:

They bring in traffic.

If you understand how, traffic can be used to bring in revenues through your directory. Once you set this up, visitors come to pay you a visit like writers and site owners who want to submit their articles and webmasters who wish to submit links to their websites. Traffic can be a good source of either cash (if and when you charge for links to your website) and lists for your Internet marketing efforts.

They can get you paid directly.

Again, charging for links will help you monetize your directory. But this can only be done if your site has already built a reputation, is generally popular or at least has a niche following and enjoys a high volume traffic. You can also charge for links if your directory is enjoying a high PageRank. Your directory’s popularity will mutually benefit other sites because it places them in quality company.

Directories provide reciprocal links.

Reciprocal links are simply links that point back to your website. A high ranking directory can do this. More links mean more traffic and better relevancy for your directory.

Creating directories

You could create a basic directory using good old HTML or you could make it easier on yourself by using applications such as Wordpad, Dreamweaver and FrontPage. If you’re computer savvy and know your way around scripts, you can use those instead and simply build a MySQL database. If you want a cheaper way to do it, check out directory scripts being offered for free online.

Determine your subject matter.

What is your goal in putting up a directory? Make this clear from the get-go. This will help you design a well-organized website. You should also decide at this point on the type of subjects you want to include on your directory. It’s a good idea to offer a variety of subjects. Try popular subjects such as finance, credit, gaming, travel, Internet marketing and the like.

You could also take one general subject and then offer to post content that are related to it. Instead of attracting a general-interest audience, you can cater to a niche market instead. You could build a strong following this way.

Provide original content.

Content found in your directory will be contributed from multiple sites. It’s highly possible that those articles will appear in other directories as well. As such, you probably can’t claim to have original material on your website. Since original content has a higher value for page ranking, try to produce original content on a regular basis. Write your own articles or pay for unique content. You can also try to do research on high-value content and then produce materials with those subjects.

Check your webhost for compatibility.

Creating a directory means you will be offering it from a hosted page so it’s a good idea to ask your webhost if it can efficiently run your website. Get a hosting account with a provider that offers you sufficient disk space and plenty of support. To give you an idea of what you will be looking at, let’s take a look at hosts such as Hostgator.com. They charge a monthly fee of about $7 in exchange for an account with 50GB of disk space. For $10 a month, you can increase that capacity to 100GB. There are several other host providers that can offer you similar services. Simply look them up online to compare which one will give you the best service.

I intend discuss the relevance of Google page ranking in SEO through this article. It is an accepted fact among SEOs that striving to get a top rank with the Google directory is all that matters in the long run. How far is this hypothesis correct from the point of view of a professional marketer?

Statistics reveal that of all visitors to a particular website more than 75% originate from Google! Alexa, Altavista, Earthlink, Netscape, Dogpile, AOL, MSN, Jeeves/Ask and Yahoo accounted for the remaining. That is interesting statistics to start this discussion. You may also do a check on the origin of your own visitors to be sure about the validity of my claims.

If that is the case we need to understand the parameters used by Google to give page ranking. They have a very simple but reasonable enough method. Each link is considered as a vote while deciding the value of each vote by taking into consideration the relevance of that site to your own content. Now that is an acceptable method to any logical thinker.

So, most SEOs slog to capitalize on this aspect of page ranking to increase their ratings. The most common methods involved are;

i) Exchanging links with directories to increase the number of links that point to your own website.

ii) Identifying directories with a high ranking as prospective link exchange partners.

There is no way to know whether the links have been purchased from link farms or from high ranking directories that capitalize on their popularity to mint money by demanding a payment for displaying external links. Page ranking, which have thus been ‘purchased’ rather than attained on merit, is a lot different from the point of view of a quality analyzer. Unfortunately there are no methods available to classify websites on the basis of procurement methods used to reach their rankings.

Another eye washer is the Google tool bar. It is a known fact that the PR is displayed on the tool bar and makes it easy for anyone to come to know of the ranking of a particular site. But, how frequently is the ranking updated on the tool bar? That is a million dollar question which needs a matter of fact answer in order to hold the figures in the tool bar to be of any consequence.

There is a great discrepancy with regard to the visitors received from external links for different search engines. This too raises many eyebrows about the dictatorial standing enjoyed by Google in judging PR.

Taking advantage of the many different ways to promote an Internet business is not something you just sit down and dream up. It actually involves skills and taking the time to learn the many different advancements being made almost daily.

Social media is one of these new technologies that the average person is not going to know about until they do some research. It also requires that you create a strategy for how to use these new forms of marketing to benefit your business the most. You may actually need to have a business meeting with yourself and create a social media strategy.

There are a couple of things you must address when you determine how to properly use social media.

1. First of all what is the goal that you’re trying to achieve with them? Are you trying to educate your readers and at same time brand yourself as an expert with credibility?

2. Are you trying to make sales for products you represent?

3. Maybe you are just trying to build a list for future follow up!

Social media tools are really only as good as the way you use them. For example blogging is a fantastic way to put your thoughts online very quickly. It is something that doesn’t require a special skill and anybody can do it

Adding video to your website or blog is a little harder. This will require that you not only learn how to record a video, but that you also learn how to get it online where people can view it.

Video is very appealing and is interactive with your reader. However, so is blogging when you allow your visitors to post comments, add content, take surveys, and so on. You may even want to do both of these but again, your strategy will determine whether you’re going to learn new skills or not.

One thing that is fantastic about social media is how it allows you to create a community within your business. You could set up your own discussion forum if you wanted.

You could join existing social networks such as Facebook or eEntrepreneur. These are excellent places to meet potential business partners and build your business using social media this way.

You may not even know exactly the social media strategy that you are looking for right now. Try different things and see what appeals to you. The key is determining exactly what you want to get from the social media that you are involved in and then be consistent in how you do it.

Twitter, as a popular social networking platform, is a viral marketing strategy all on its own, especially if your followers like your tweets and retweet them to their followers. However, I’ve recently noticed another trend in Twitter usage that increases its viral marketing capabilities through the use of hashtags.

What’s a hashtag, anyway? Also called the pound sign, the hashtag (#) is added to a tweet as a way of creating trackable categories, groups, or topics that others can use to search for info using the Twitter Search feature. One of the most common uses of the hashtag is to tweet what’s happening at an event or conference. The event organizer will request all attendees use a specific hashtag, i.e. #yourevent, when tweeting about the event to your followers. So, then, someone who isn’t present at the event but wants to follow what’s happening there can simply search for #yourevent and see what’s going on and what participants are saying and sharing about the event.

Anyone can create a hashtag by putting hashtag (#) in front of anything. If you log into Twitter and look in the right-hand column, you’ll see the Trending Topics, many of which can be tracked with a hashtag. How can you use this strategy to create more viral marketing for your business on Twitter? By creating a hashtag Twitter tips campaign.

Here are 6 steps to help you create your own Twitter hashtag campaign:

1. Research. What kinds of tips would be appreciated by your target market? On what topics do you frequently receive questions from your clients? My target market is always asking questions about getting more traffic, so I decided to focus on traffic generation strategies.

2. Choose your name. Choose a short, simple name that reflects your brand and what you’re offering. Before making your final decision, you need to check your proposed name on Twitter Search (search by including the #) to ensure that no one else is using that name. Otherwise, your tweeted tips will intermingle with the other hashtag group using that name. I quickly checked and discovered that no one was using #OBUTrafficTip, so that’s what I chose.

3. Create your tips. You can easily pick your tips out of an article or blog post you’ve created. In my case, I had purchased a PLR ebook that I used as a basis for my tips. Remember that your tips need to be less than 140 characters, including the hashtag name you’ve chosen and any links you include.

4. Link to relevant info. You get the most mileage out of these tips if you link the tips to something relevant to that tip. For example, if you have a bank of articles, each tip might link to an article you’ve written that has more details about the tip. For maximum exposure, you’ll want to link to info on your site or your blog rather than to the posting of an article in an article directory.

5. Upload the tips into TweetLater.com. This type of campaign is easily managed using TweetLater.com. Simply upload your completed tips and set them to distribute once a day or (several times a week) over the upcoming weeks by postdating them into the future. In this way you put these tips on autopilot and they post themselves.

6. Let them begin to work their magic. It may take awhile for them to catch on, but eventually others will begin to retweet your tips as useful information they want their followers to access. As with most marketing strategies, consistence is the key here to your success.

It’s pretty easy to begin your own viral marketing tips campaign using the Twitter hashtag. Simply follow the steps as outlined above, and watch as your number of Twitter follows grows each day!
