Do You Know Which Site Ranks Highest For The Term “click Here”?

The term “click here” is a generic term that appears all over the internet – if you do a Google search for it yields 1.7 billion results (yes billion!), even if you do an exact search it still yields 972 million results. I am sure you would agree these are astronomical results and I bet you are now wondering which site ranks number one for this term? – if you cannot be bothered to check then I will let you know right now – it is the adobe acrobat download page – I bet you did not think that would be the one.

So why, other than passing interest, would anyone be interested in such a fact?. The answer to this question is anyone who is interested in search engine optimization (SEO) – if I tell you that the top ranking page for “click here” does not contain the term “click here”, it does not appear in the pages meta tags nor do either of the words even appear individually on the page then it may alter some of your thinking about SEO.

So after all that is has been written about on page optimization (keyword density, use of meta tags, use of tags to highlight key phrases etc) we find a clear example of a top ranking site that has NO on page optimization at all, it completely disregards all the accepted wisdom about on page optimization and still ranks top out of 1 billion results.

So how has this been achieved?. The answer is simple – backlinks. There are literally hundreds of thousands of sites that link to the adobe acrobat download page. Equally importantly as the number of backlinks is the quality of the links – many of these backlinks come from authority sites (.edu,.gov etc).
What is particularly interesting is that this quantity of links has probably been built organically – i.e. by people wanting to link to the site rather than been requested or encouraged to do so. And why have they done this? – Because the site has something unique, useful or interesting to offer. This principle is a good one to bear in mind when developing your linking strategy – what am I offering that is unique, useful or interesting and that people will WANT to link to?

This example of a high ranking site seems to go against all perceived wisdom on site ranking i.e. it seems to suggest that on page optimization has no effect on ranking what so ever. Whilst this does appear to be true in this case what we are probably seeing is the sheer scale of high quality links to the site far outweighing any possible on page optimization to the point where it is irrelevant. However this would probably not hold true for the vast majority of sites who do not have these vast quantities of backlinks. In these cases the on page optimization will still affect ranking and therefore still has to be taken care of.

This is a very powerful demonstration of how effective backlinks are in affecting search engine ranking. In fact it seems to point to the fact that backlinks are the primary determinator of page ranking, with on page optimization trailing behind.

Understanding Pay Per Click Search Engines

Pay per click search engines have become the latest resource for online advertisers.

Their popularity is based on the ability of advertisers to spend money on advertising based on their sales revenue.

Advertisers can decide how much they can afford to spend per customer, and then limit the amount of advertising accordingly.

Similarly, an advertiser can increase his or her advertising budget according to the success of the pay per click campaign.

In lay men terms, a pay per click search engine is an advertising tool that allows the advertiser the ability to set his own rate.

The business model is based on allowing the advertiser to set his own spending rate based on his need for customers, and his ability to close sales on that traffic.

By introducing this advertising model search engines like Google, Overture, and now Yahoo, have been able to attract business from small and large advertisers.

A small comic book shop can decide to spend a hundred dollars a month on Google Ad Words, while an online giant like Amazon can spend millions of dollars per week.

Flexibility also makes the PPC medium work for advertisers. Modifications to their campaigns can be made in real time, and can be changed as market developments take place.

For instance, you can use your pay per click campaign to advertise a special sale, and then change your ads once the sale is over.

Or you can direct traffic to a specific page on your site that sells a currently hot item.

As an advertiser you select key words which will trigger your ads. When a search engine query is performed your ad will be shown as long as you selected the searched for term.

The search engines will match up ads based on the key words the advertisers want their ads to be shown for.

Caution must be used since words have alternate meanings to different people.

While pop might mean a certain sound or effect to you, it can also mean soda, or even surprise to another person.

So when you advertise using a pay per click search engine make sure that your ads are very clear. You only want people who are looking for what you offer to click on your ads.

The best way to avoid curiosity clickers is by making it very clear what the product or service being offered is.

This way a curiosity clicker will only visit your ad if he or she already has some interest in your business.

In the pay per click model you pay every time someone clicks on one of your ads, so it becomes crucial to attract serious prospects.

Real guide to save yourself from google click fraud punishment

Many web site owners are getting their Google Adsense account terminated when they have done nothing wrong to deserve the punishment. Considering the money that they are getting from Adsense, they would certainly want to get back into it.

Considering the money to be made with Adsense, it is no wonder that they would want to get back into it.

It is that same consideration why the Google Adsense click fraud is thought of and why many people are getting into it.

Click fraud is the act of clicking on ads for the purpose of costing the advertiser money. It is simply the same as paying out cash for false leads. Many people website owners are aware of this fraud and are sharing the same sentiment that this is the one big problem that Adsense is facing.

How do you prevent being involved in this fraud?

Majority of web hosts are offering access logs. Once this is offered to you, it is necessary that you hand it over to Google as well. This allows them to look for any suspicious activity on your site. Problems like this are very serious and giving it to them is saying that you would want to help them in any way you can in solving the problem.

It can also help if you have a click monitoring software. If you do not have one yet, you should try and get one. There is absolutely no major factor preventing you from having one because most of this software is free.

As usual, all the information you have received should be turned over to Google. This is showing Google that you too are fighting against click frauds and is in no way a part of it.

Study your server logs and watch for any activity that seems suspicious. Report anything that you may find odd, may it big or small thing.

You may want to consider disabling ads for your own IP address and local geographic area. This will certainly prevent accidents and will not make Google mistake another user as you. You can do through a htaccess file. This will avoid Google mistaking as clicking on your own ads and be kicked out because of it.

Keep your Adsense off on pop ups and pop unders. Your ads should not be displayed on content sites that promote illegal activity or tampering of the legal rights of other people or business. Included in this are the content that is considered adult and gambling ones. If you think that you may be breaking this rule, immediately remove your content or Adsense from the web page.

Be truthful and confess up to Google about times when you might have clicked on your own as, whether accidentally or intentionally. Or the times when you have done something that is against the Terms of Service that they are implementing. Be honest about anything that you may have done that is wrong. Confessing is way better than Google learning about it eventually. It would mean eventual termination and no getting back what you have worked so hard for.

Do not tell your family or friends about Adsense on your website. Chances are they may start clicking on them to help you make money without you knowing it. They may be doing more harm to you than help by trying it in the first place.

If ever someone you know chanced upon your Adsense, make sure they understand that they cannot click on your ads under any circumstances. It would be wise to brief them on important things about Adsense and what not to do with them.

Most pay per click networks have different measures in hand to protect website owners against click frauds. Other search engines can track more than 50 data points, IP address, browser’s information, user’s session info and pattern recognition. They also have “systems” available that detects fraud. Not to mention the specialized teams monitoring how things are going and helping advertisers stop click frauds.

Google offers suggestion on how to avoid click fraud. Using “negative keywords” can be used to keep your Adsense showing on products and services that are in no way related to yours. Adding tracking URLs to your links so you can track the traffic coming from Google.

Getting to the Top of Search Engines with Pay Per Click Marketing

Copyright (c) 2009 Ivana Katz

For most small businesses, getting to the top of the Search Engines, such as Google, and Yahoo is next to impossible without using the services of a Search Engine Optimization company. Although a very worthwhile exercise, Search Engine Optimisation can be quite costly.

The GREAT news is that you can get your website to the top of search engines, using Pay Per Click advertising.

Pay per click (PPC) advertising is when an advertiser (you) pays for each qualified click that sends a search engine user to the advertiser’s web page. PPC requires you to bid on keywords or phrases that relate to your business. The best known pay per click service is Google AdWords.

Generally you can bid from as little as a few cents per visitor. However, the more you bid the higher up in the search engine your advertisement will appear. Pay per click is a great way to deliver targeted and qualified visitors to your website at a very reasonable price.

It is a good idea to experiment with different PPC search engines to find the one that works best for you. In addition, you will need to spend time testing your keywords and ads.

The largest and most popular of all the pay per click search engines is Google Adwords. Like all PPC search engines, your Google AdWords ads are ranked by the bid price you are willing to pay, but Google also takes into account the relevance of your ad and will give precedence to ads with higher click-through rates. Therefore you could be paying $0.01 more per click than the advertiser ranked above you, but he has a better clickthrough rate, giving him greater “value”, according to Google.

For more information check out Google Adwords.

The great advantage of using Pay Per Click advertising is that you can set daily budgets, target your ads by location, eg. Sydney or Melbourne or by country. You can easily change ads and keyword selection and even choose the times your ads will show.

Google Adwords has a number of excellent tools available to make the most of your campaign.

Keyword Tool

Helps you build a master list of new keywords for your ads and review detailed keyword performance statistics like advertiser competition and search volume. The Keyword Tool is a great way to generate synonyms and variations of your existing keywords. Adding these terms to your keyword list can help ensure that you do not miss out on relevant traffic.

Campaign Optimiser

The Campaign Optimiser uses Google’s advanced technology and experience with AdWords ads to your advantage. The tool automatically analyses your keyword-targeted campaign (including your budget, keywords, ad text, geo-targeting, and landing page) and generates a proposal to improve your campaign’s performance.

Google Analytics

Use Google Analytics to learn which online marketing initiatives are cost effective and see how visitors actually interact with your site. Make informed site design improvements, drive targeted traffic and increase your conversions and profits.

Traffic Estimator

This great tool allows you to try out specific keywords and phrases to see what the likely results would be if you actually tried them for real. You can find out: – How popular a keyword or phrase is likely to be – How many times that keyword is typically clicked on per day – What the average cost per click would be to you – How many clicks you could expect to get per day, depending on the budget you set

Website Optimiser

Website Optimizer helps online marketers increase visitor conversion rates and overall visitor satisfaction by continually testing different combinations of site content including text and images.

Conversion Tracking

Make the most of your advertising budget. Conversion tracking helps you identify the keywords that deliver for you so you can make smarter budgeting decisions. The set-up process is quick, and along the way, you can customise the feature to fit your unique needs.

For a directory of other Pay Per Click campaigns, go to: Pay Per Click Directory – http://www.payperclicksearchengines.com/directory/

If this is all too hard, you can employ the services of a company such as Sponsored Linx and they will organise the campaign for you. In fact, they promise that they can get you on the 1st page of Google when someone searches for your company’s keywords within 24hrs.

Just Pay with a Click – PPC Advertising

Pay Per Click or PPC is an advertising technique that has gained tremendous populareity on the Internet. Websites and advertising networks on the web are sponsored links that typically appear as text ads and are usually place near the search results. Advertisers will pay a pre-set amount for each visitor that clicks on the ad, at which time the visitor is then taken to the advertiser’s website.

It all about trying to get to the top positions in search enginelisting. Advertisers will buy or bid (keyword auctioning) on keywords and keyword phrasings. The highest bid earns the higher placement on search results and the more viewers (and possible clicks). The advertiser pay the bidding price for each click to their website.

Pay Per Click (PPC) – A Permanent Addition To Your Marketing Mix?

Pay per click (PPC) advertising is the hottest and perhaps most effective way for many Internet advertisers to reach their intended audiences. It is a marketing device that should be included in the tool box of any company which has or plans to have a presence on the net. The keys to pay per click are deciding what type of clicks to use and how to make sure that each click targets the audience a company wants to reach.

PPC advertising falls into two categories: Pay per click search engines and ads that potential customers can click on (so called clickable ads). Search engines based on the PPC model charge an advertiser a fee for the ranking it receives when a particular term (keyword) is searched. The more popular a keyword is the higher the price for an advertiser’s website to appear on the returned search list. Advertisers who pay the most will have their products and services appear at the head of the list given back to the person who initiated the search. Clickable ads appear on websites which have content similar to that of the ads. A customer perusing the website will see advertisements of interest and perhaps click on them. The advertiser pays only when a potential client clicks on that advertiser’s ad. Some PPC advertising companies are also experimenting with clickable ads where the advertiser pays only if a customer clicks on the ad and makes a purchase as well. Both of these styles of PPC advertising have advantages. An astute Internet advertiser will examine each type to determine which is best for its business. It is often possible that a combination of the two models will give a company the most bang for its advertising buck.

How can a company go about comparing the many pay per click advertising platforms and deciding which one is best suited to its needs? A company must first research the PPC search engines and clickable ad programs available; then it is wise to make a small investment to test those programs which seem viable. When choosing a program, biggest may not always be best. Some companies will benefit from casting a wide net with a large company. Other businesses may be better served by working with smaller advertising entities that specialize in niche markets. Remember too that a company doesn’t have to pay the highest price to be placed on a PPC search engine return page. Companies are placed on the page in descending order from the highest to the lowest bidder. Holding a place on the first or second search page may produce significant return at a lower cost.

Once an advertiser has decided to use a pay per click search engine or to place a series of clickable ads, a test run is advisable. Like all advertising companies, PPC advertising is based on a set budget. A company establishes an account and each time a potential client clicks on the keyword or the ad, an amount is deducted from the advertiser’s account until it is depleted. A company should set up small accounts with several PPC companies which seem appropriate for its needs. After setting up the accounts the advertiser then needs to devise something on its website to track how many visitors it receives from each company. PPC companies themselves will offer the advertiser a list of visitors who clicked through on their advertising but these lists may not provide a company with sufficient information for making an informed decision about the success of its advertising. A company wants to know not just that it received visitors but that the visitors were actual potential customers, not just idle surfers.

All in all, PPC advertising represents a viable and cost effective form of advertising. Most businesses will discover that either PPC search engines or clickable ads or a savvy combination of the two will increase traffic to their sites. So resolve today to make a small investment of time and money to find the PPC solution that will enable your company to enhance its Internet presence.

Ppc – Click Attacks

Author admin    Category PPC     Tags ,

Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising is designed to bring targeted customers to an individual website. The ecommerce business owner pays an agreed upon amount to have this advertising placed on the web. Many PPC affiliates are beneficiaries of this type of advertising.

In essence, whenever a PPC ad is clicked the advertiser is charged a fee. From the business owners perspective this is advantageous because it is intended to bring a more targeted consumer to the site. The information does not cost the consumer anything while those who place the ad and those who agree to run the ad receive a portion of the income from each click.

Let me paint a picture for you. A competitor notices your PPC advertising on several sites. They understand the possibilities represented by your PPC advertising. They consider the possibility of making multiple clicks on your PPC advertising in an effort to drain your advertising revenue while making sure very few have the chance to actually be impacted by the advertising effort.

Some individuals have done this very thing in an act of sabotage. Why is the problem not more widespread?

The first response to that question has to do with improved detection systems within the PPC advertising community. If they can detect problems with sabotage they can work to eliminate the issue before it becomes problematic. If the PPC advertisers aren’t happy then the PPC advertising agencies aren’t happy. These firms continue to work toward better methods of tracking and identifying inbound traffic.

The second response to the question is that in a growing number of areas this type of activity is being prosecuted as fraud and in some areas is classified as a felony.

When you couple online pressure to provide a measure of security in PPC advertising with a judicial system that can prosecute this activity the result is a system that may not be 100% foolproof, but it does essentially level the playing field. By making PPC advertising a trusted advertising method the benefits are felt in global online business.

This type of fraud can be likened to cyber graffiti, Businesses can see the evidence, but may not be able to easily identify who caused the problem.

There may be clicks that were committed in error, but will still be counted toward your advertising payment. A person familiar with a website owner may also inadvertently cause problems by clicking on the PPC advertising knowing that the website owner will receive some income from any click-throughs on the site. Often it is the site owner that is called into account when this type of activity is noted.

If you know someone who accepts PPC advertising on their site, resist the urge to make multiple, but meaningless clicks. When you try to help a friend you are hurting a business that is paying for the clicks you commit.

Pay Per Click (ppc) Vs. Organic Search

Pay Per Click (PPC) vs. Organic Search

One of the age old SEO questions that is asked is, ” Foot the bill for an extensive PPC campaign or should I spend the time and money to improve my organic search ranking?” In this article I will look at both of these strategies and discover which one seems to be a more viable option for most webmasters.

Organic Optimization

With organic optimization, you can develop a longer term marketing strategy. Organic search has results that last for years as opposed to PPC that lasts only as long as your bank account does. Organic optimization has been around about as long as the web itself. Like the web, organic search has evolved with the times. However, the constant evolution can make Organic optimization confusing and difficult. Another major advantage to organic search is that it could cost absolutely nothing. I was once told “There is no such thing as a free lunch.” Well, that may be so but as long as webmasters are willing to put in the time and effort to build a successful Organic search campaign, then there is such thing as free SEO.

Pay Per Click (PPC) -

Pay Per Click is the search engine’s bread and butter. If we were look at the earnings of all the major search engines, at the top of the list of revenue drivers you always see PPC. The numbers speak for themselves; people wouldn’t continue to purchase PPC ads if they didn’t convert into sales.

If you are a new business to the web and would like to see immediate results, PPC is the only way to go. PPC is the only search engine optimization strategy that can yield immediate first-page placement. Another benefit to using the PPC campaign is that you can set you own fixed budget. If you want to only spend $100 dollars a month, no problem, $10,000, go for it. Another advantage to PPC is that you can instantly track your conversion, and success rates through Google Analytics and other PPC management soft wares. Another advantage to PPC is that if you find a particular keyword or phrase is not working, all you need to do is make a few minor tweaks and your new target phrase has changed. In Organic search, changes could take months to take effect.

The Best Search Engine Marketing option is…

When evaluating both of these online marketing strategies, I have come to the conclusion that they both play key roles in online marketing, yet organic optimization is the better solution for a long term, cost effective marketing campaign. Don’t get me wrong; I definitely feel that PPC has its place in just about any SEO strategy, but as a secondary tool. It can also serve as a jumping off point for a brand new site that needs to see immediate results. A PPC campaign can serve as a temporary solution while an Organic campaign is being built.
