Google Adwords Pay Per Click Explained by Simon Leung
Google Adwords Pay Per Click Explained by Simon Leung
I’d like to share these with you so to make your marketing more profitable…
You probably know that Simon Leung is the co-creator of Google Adwords-the most famous pay per click company. He gave an awesome presentation at the Master’s Seminar in Chicago.
He gave the following strategies for creating Google- Friendly Adword pay per click campaigns:
1. Don’t use more than 30% of the same content in the same ad. Make sure at least 70% is unique.
2. Google checks to see if your squeeze or landing page has a legitimate offer on it. It is a myth that they dislike squeeze pages. They don’t like unethical pages.
3. Google checks to see if the deal you are offering in the ad is honored and delivered as promised. The delivery method should be clearly stated on the landing page.
4. They like to see ads that pre-qualify prospects. For example, it is acceptable to put the exact price of your product in the ad to discourage those who would never pay the cost of the product, so they will not click. On the other hand, if a prospect sees what he perceives to be a good price point, he will click and possibly buy because he is a targeted user.
5. Google does not mind if you capture email addresses, as long as you specify on your landing page how the information will be used and that you will ensure privacy and protection.
6. Google checks the website. The copy should have natural, relevant out-going links that make it easy for the potential customer to order and complete the sale. They like to see the words, “Click Here To Order.” (Joel Comm would like to hear that. That’s the title of his newest book. Oh yes, he did. He was at the conference.)
7. Google looks for unique graphics. They should be professional and of high quality.
8. Google checks for the proper use of keywords in your pay per click ads. It uses a relevancy scale of :
*Extremely irrelevant -advertising
*Somewhat irrelevant -online advertising
*General relevancy – adwords advertising
*Somewhat relevant -Google Adwords advertising help
*Extremely relevant -Google Adwords advertising help optimization service
They also check for the proper usage of negative keywords that discourage clicks from non-targeted people.
Each and every keyword in the ad must appear on the landing page. (Did you know that? I didn’t.)
Simon suggests that you build out multiple variations of the keywords. Here are a few ways to do that:
*Use as many synonyms for your keywords as possible. That means words that have similar meanings. For example, if you wanted another word for money, you could use cash, moolah, wealth, windfall, capital, bread, boodle, booty, mammon, resources, bankroll, and assets. I didn’t strain my brain to think of those. I pulled them up by clicking over to thesaurus.reference.com and I suggest you do the same.
*Use singular and plural for ALL keywords. That would mean that if you had the keyword phrase of webmaster resource, you should also have the plural of webmaster resources.
=Use common misspellings such as webmaster resorces. Some people slept through English and Spelling classes in school, but may be smart enough to want your product anyway.
Another thing that Google wants to see is action-oriented words. Tell people to do something specific such as
order, register, subscribe, etc.
Google checks for correct geographical keywords.
If you are selling globally, it should be obvious to the reader. If you are only selling to a limited area, that should be even more apparent.
Be sure to identify the product or service you are offering. Use the information from your site using clear statements that are grammatically correct.
Your title is vitally important. It should not only be eye-catching, but Simon suggests that it includes one main keyword and asks a question that the reader will identify with immediately. The prospect should be able to reply in agreement. He says Google likes to see titles with question marks at the end that follow this format. So let’s use them!
Make sure your ads and landing pages set the correct user expectations. There are several ways to do that…
*State your price. For example, you could say Adwords consultation services for 00 per hr, registration required, free application online
So, to summarize…
*Create Google friendly pages
*Build multiple highly-relevant
keyword and keyword phrases that pre-qualify people.
*Use highly-converting text
Test, test, test with as low as .01 before throwing your life savings at them.
You have precisely 95 characters to use in your pay per click ad. Use them wisely.

Top Tips to avoid Google Adsense Click Fraud
Top Tips to avoid Google Adsense Click Fraud
Many web site owners are getting their Google Adsense account terminated when they have done nothing wrong to deserve the punishment. Considering the money that they are getting from Adsense, they would certainly want to get back into it.
Considering the money to be made with Adsense, it is no wonder that they would want to get back into it.
It is that same consideration why the Google Adsense click fraud is thought of and why many people are getting into it.
Click fraud is the act of clicking on ads for the purpose of costing the advertiser money. It is simply the same as paying out cash for false leads. Many people website owners are aware of this fraud and are sharing the same sentiment that this is the one big problem that Adsense is facing.
How do you prevent being involved in this fraud?
Majority of web hosts are offering access logs. Once this is offered to you, it is necessary that you hand it over to Google as well. This allows them to look for any suspicious activity on your site. Problems like this are very serious and giving it to them is saying that you would want to help them in any way you can in solving the problem.
It can also help if you have a click monitoring software. If you do not have one yet, you should try and get one. There is absolutely no major factor preventing you from having one because most of this software is free.
As usual, all the information you have received should be turned over to Google. This is showing Google that you too are fighting against click frauds and is in no way a part of it.
Study your server logs and watch for any activity that seems suspicious. Report anything that you may find odd, may it big or small thing.
You may want to consider disabling ads for your own IP address and local geographic area. This will certainly prevent accidents and will not make Google mistake another user as you. You can do through a htaccess file. This will avoid Google mistaking as clicking on your own ads and be kicked out because of it.
Keep your Adsense off on pop ups and pop unders. Your ads should not be displayed on content sites that promote illegal activity or tampering of the legal rights of other people or business. Included in this are the content that is considered adult and gambling ones. If you think that you may be breaking this rule, immediately remove your content or Adsense from the web page.
Be truthful and confess up to Google about times when you might have clicked on your own as, whether accidentally or intentionally. Or the times when you have done something that is against the Terms of Service that they are implementing. Be honest about anything that you may have done that is wrong. Confessing is way better than Google learning about it eventually. It would mean eventual termination and no getting back what you have worked so hard for.
Do not tell your family or friends about Adsense on your website. Chances are they may start clicking on them to help you make money without you knowing it. They may be doing more harm to you than help by trying it in the first place.
If ever someone you know chanced upon your Adsense, make sure they understand that they cannot click on your ads under any circumstances. It would be wise to brief them on important things about Adsense and what not to do with them.
Most pay per click networks have different measures in hand to protect website owners against click frauds. Other search engines can track more than 50 data points, IP address, browser’s information, user’s session info and pattern recognition. They also have “systems” available that detects fraud. Not to mention the specialized teams monitoring how things are going and helping advertisers stop click frauds.
Google offers suggestion on how to avoid click fraud. Using “negative keywords” can be used to keep your Adsense showing on products and services that are in no way related to yours. Adding tracking URLs to your links so you can track the traffic coming from Google.
Do not be caught in the Google click fraud. Be aware and be wary.

Stop Burning Through Cash on Google Pay Per Click – Top 5 Tips
Stop Burning Through Cash on Google Pay Per Click – Top 5 Tips
The Google AdWords is not a playground. This is a serious battle field where people fight over keywords, page rank/position, increased quality scores, a better click through rate, and conversions. If you’re going to participate, you must have the right “weapons” loaded and ready to go. Say you are just getting started with AdWords or maybe you’re frustrated because you continue to lose money in the Google game, pay attention to these 5 tips that will save you from burning through serious ad dollars (and bring qualified prospects to your landing page).
1) Have Relevant Ads: The last thing you want to do is have your ad copy writing checks your landing page can’t cash. When someone reads your ad, you have just created an expectation. When that person clicks your ad, your landing page must deliver. You don’t want people just clicking your ad (although that is very exciting), you want customers ready to buy or engage in what you have to offer. A simple solution is to qualify people before they click your ad. This could be a monetary qualifier, for example “Affordable Tool Set, Sears 24 Piece Set With Warranty, Never Been Used 9″. When someone clicks on this ad, they know exactly what will be on the other side of the ad…a 24 piece Sears tool set that has never been used for 9. If someone doesn’t have 9 to spend, they will not click on you ad. See how valuable this can be for your bottom line? Take the time to write quality Ad Copy. Don’t try to trick people into clicking on your ad, this will only waste your hard earned money and leave you spending more than you earn.
2) Split Test Ads: This is the easiest way to improve your ROI and the concept is pretty black and white. Make sure you have 2 Ads running for each of your ad-groups. One is called the “control” and the other is the “test”. All you want to do is beat the control. Some people split test completely different ads and some people only make simple changes. When you are split testing completely different ads that means the ad copy for your headline and description lines are different from the control. Or you can keep the description the same but test a different headline. No matter what you decide to do, just make sure you are split testing ads and watching to see which ad has the higher conversion rate. That higher converting ad becomes your control and you can start the game all over again. This is a full proof way to decrease cost. You are finding the ad that converts the best and continually improving upon that ad.
3) Check Out Your Competition: I can guarantee if some one is on the first page of Google (paid advertising) they are making money. Why would someone pay to be on the first page if they weren’t making money? They wouldn’t, hence, study what’s happening on the first page of the keywords you’re looking at. There is a disclaimer, the keyword must be a competitive keyword. If you type in a keyword and there are no paid advertisements you probably want to say away. It is possible that you found a diamond in the rough, but it is more likely that the reason no one is bidding on those keywords is because they do not produce lead or sales (they are a drain). Just remember, a person found in position 1 is doing something right. You want to look at all of the ads on the first page of a keyword that you are looking to bid on. If you are going to compete on that keyword you are going to have to beat out that first page competition. So know your competition!
4) Stay Within Your Budget: If you know you can only spend a maximum of .50 per click on search and .95 on content, don’t go over that amount. Sometimes Google can become this strange addition, like gambling. Be sure to set a budget and don’t go over that amount. Even if you are in “Lead Poverty” and you’re feeling desperate for leads; Don’t make any exceptions and don’t get emotional. If your ad-groups and keywords aren’t getting traffic, or the cost is too high for you to compete, that just means its time to get off your butt and find new keywords.
5) Perform daily maintenance on what is not working: I like to just pause ad-groups or keywords that are not working (aka costing too much and producing too little). I do this every day, sometimes I check multiple times a day depending on what I’ve got going on. This is my maintenance during the week, and then I run my reports on the weekend and take a few hours that day to clean things out and add new keywords. If you are serious about competing on Google AdWords, this will be part of your weekly schedule too.
Always remember the 80/20 rule – Pareto’s Law that reminds us only 20% of our keywords will actually work. You might even error on the side of 90/10 to be on the safe side. You need to accept this fact and realize that much of your time, especially in the beginning will be spent on testing keywords, getting rid of what is not working, and adding more keywords to test. And remember these 5 simple tips to help you save more ad dollars and make more on the back end.
Google Ways To Detect Click Fraud And You WILL Get Caught
Google Ways To Detect Click Fraud And You WILL Get Caught
Google AdSense is a great way to supplement your web site’s income! So what exactly is Google AdSense? This is a program run by Google that pays you per click. You sign up for free, paste a little bit of code on your website and every time someone clicks the links on your site, you get paid a certain amount per click.
Screw Google, Yahoo, MSN & all major search engines Adwords Exposed at http://www.adwordsexposed.com
Some clicks are worth higher than others depending on the “keyword” that the ad is targetting. What does this mean? Google AdSense are “contextual based” ads, meaning that they display the links for people to click on based on the context of your website.
For example if you have a website about “tennis” then the ads Google AdSense will display will be all about tennis. So if the text on your site that Google is basing their AdSense ads on is for “tennis balls”, then the keyword phrase “tennis balls” may be paying higher per click than “tennis racket”.
Here are a few tips to get better earnings with Google AdSense:
1. Don’t make your ads look like ads! People are so “banner blind” now that they’ll skim right over your AdSense ads if you make them look too much like actual ads. By removing the background and the border of your ads and making them blend in with your own site’s background, it will help your sales tremendously!
2. Don’t click your own links! It may be tempting to earn that potential .03 for yourself but in the long run it’s not worth it! Google has ways to detect “click fraud” and you WILL get caught and you’ll forfeit all of your earnings thus far.
3. Put your ads close to your content! Don’t put your content way up at the top and then put your AdSense ads waaaay down at the bottom. You won’t get very many click throughs. Make sure your web content is actually integrated with your ads.
4. Have relevant keywords on your site! If your site is about “web site traffic” and you just keep mentioning the word “traffic” by itself, your Google AdSense ads may display ads for rush hour traffic, or traffic jams. Which has nothing to do with your website. Keep your ads relevant by giving your content good, thorough keywords.
If you just apply these simply and effective tips, you WILL see an increase in your Google AdSense revenue! While it’s best not to put all your eggs in one basket and have AdSense as your only income earner, it is definitely a good way to make a nice little supplemental income on your website!

Adsense Tips: 10 Ways to Improve Click Through Rates
Adsense Tips: 10 Ways to Improve Click Through Rates
So you’ve started a new website. Put up some ads and now your just waiting for everyone who visits your site to click your ads like crazy and make you a lot of money. Unfortunately it’s not that simple. Most people ignore ads entirely, but there are things you can do to increase click through rates. These tips are not only great for those who are new to the world of PPC ads but also people with established sites just looking to make more money.
Before you start, Make Sure Your using Google Adsense
These tips will work for all pay per click ad providers. But, Google Adsense is the best and will make you the most money. Google ads are much more relevant than most PPC ad providers. This means that people will see ads for what they are actively pursuing at your site and will be much more likely to click them. Also people generally trust Google not to send them to irrelevant pages. If you do not have Google Adsense, get it. If you have previously applied for Adsense and have been denied you should really consider changing what they found objectionable and re-applying, its worth it. You can sign up for Adsense from my site at the bottom of this article.
1.) Text Ads Only!
Way back when the internet first started image ads were an effective marketing technique. Since then almost everyone has figured out that they usually aren’t worth clicking, and thus click through rates on image ads have dropped drastically. For some reason people prefer text ads. When setting up your Adsense codes make sure to select “Text ads Only”.
2.) Diversify Your Content
One of the best ways to improve your click through rates is to diversify your content. Adsense works best on sites with many different pages covering many different keywords. So that when a visitor comes to your site there is a whole spectrum of ads that may catch their interest.
3.) Remove Visual Borders
You should make your ad background color, and border color the same as the background color for your content. There should be no lines, borders, or change of color between the background of your ads and the background of your content. That just screams “THESE ARE ADS, DON’T BOTHER LOOKING HERE!” Sure, when your visitors read them they will know they are ads, but at least they will be reading them and more likely to find one of interest.
Now that we’ve covered type and setup of your ads lets move on to placement. Remember with Adsense you only get 3 ad units per page, so use them wisely.
4.) Frame Your Content
What this means is that you should use your ads as a border for your content. Use a leaderboard for the top and a wide skyscraper for the side. That way anytime a visitor goes to read your content they will have to look over your ads. When it comes to ads bigger is better, always pick the wide skyscraper and the longest leader board over more compact units. You should only use two ad units to frame your content because with Adsense you are only allowed three ad units on each page and your third ad unit can be better spent.
5.) Left Side Ads, Right Side Site-Map
A lot of times people will have their site-map on the left, their ads on the right, and their content in the middle. This is a bad idea when trying to improve click through rates because the left side is the first thing visitors see when they visit your site. If you make your left table your ads you will likely get more clicks because thats what people will see first, and your site will still be equally navigable.
6.) Focal Point Placement
Ad placement is critical. Aside from the obvious choices of the skyscraper on the left and the leaderboard on the top. You should choose your third ad unit wisely. Each site is different, and has different focal points. Only you know where your focal point is, that’s where you place your ads.
For example: right next to a login box.
7.) Disguise Your Ads
Now this doesn’t mean that you should try to remove or hide the “Ads by Google” logo. What this means is that you should place your ad unit within your content. The square ads work best for this. Put the ads directly above your content and try to format your content to resemble the ads as closely as possible. You should not try to substitute ads for content, because a it’s a really dumb thing to do. You need a decent amount of content and ads are no substitute. Your visitors aren’t stupid and if they realize that you are trying to substitute ads for content they will leave and not come back.
8.) Link Unit at the Top of Your Site-Map
For some sites its a good idea to place a link unit at the top of your site-map. Like all ad units you want the to resemble your content as much as possible. Remember, don’t format your ads to resemble your site, format your site to resemble your ads.
9.) Test Different Setups
If you’re smart you’re using Adsense custom channels to track the performance of your ad units. If you see that an ad unit isn’t getting a lot of clicks, its time to move it. Shuffle your ads around until you find the combination that yields the highest click through rates.
10.) Check out the Free Web-Master Tools Section of the Freebie Archive

Why are PPC (pay Per Click) Ads are so Popular?
In the offline days long before the World Wide Web and PPC (Pay per click) ads came along, publishers as well as radio and TV stations experimented with something called PPO (pay per order) and PPR (pay per response) or PPL (pay per lead) advertising. As the names suggest, these were ads where the advertisers either paid per lead generated or order generated. But the truth is that these ads never really took off and were never widely accepted.
So what happened in the case of online PPC (pay per click) ads? What caused these kind of advertisements to become so wildly popular as they are today?
Google Launched The PPC Revolution
To answer some of these questions it is useful to go back in time a little and trace the origin of the popularity of PPC ads. There is the amazing story of well known search engine giant Google which has experienced phenomenal growth within such a short time of existence.
The Google fairy tale is still a fascinating read even today. Started by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were still students at Stanford, for a long time this venture grew tremendously in popularity and usage and was very widely used and yet had not found a way to generate revenue. It was obvious that charging a fee for the use of their revolutionary search engine was not the right model. That search for a way to generate revenues ended when Google was already receiving millions of visitors daily and the company just found a convenient and non-intrusive way to display advertising.
It is clear that the founders of Google realized quite early on in the game, what many others have not seen to date. That is the fact that although the Internet is widely seen as an improvement of the Television, this is not true and the web is actually an adavanced telephone more than anything else. This is easily proved by the fact that TV and the web are in fact two very different mediums. TV can accommodate a lot of advertising comfortably, but advertising on the web is usually viewed as a nuisance and intrusion into people’s privacy. This is the main reason why PPC ads took off quickly even when a similar concept offline never really proved attractive to most publishers and advertisers alike.
Google looked for a way to carry advertising online to its’ huge audience without intruding and came up with the idea of displaying only relevant advertisements based on searches on its’ popular search engine. The idea was simple but extremely powerful and meant that somebody using keywords to search for information would end up with the organic results of their search on one side and on the other relevant advertisements on the same subject.
The next problem they had to solve was the fact that based on the huge audience they had, they would be justified in charging very high advertising rates. However the market accustomed to cheap online advertising was unlikely to accept those ad rates.
And that is how PPC ads came into use at Google. By charging only for click throughs to the site, advertisers were very happy to pay huge sums as long as it was for actual visits to their sites from people who had clicked on the Google PPC ads because they will usually have been able to generate an even larger sum of money from orders placed by a percentage of the visitors who arrived at their sites.
The rest as they say, is history. The Google PPC concept rapidly grew in popularity and is today by far, the most popular form of advertising on the web.
Others Join The PPC Party
As you read this, there are numerous other online companies and sites that offer PPC ads. They make lots of sense because advertisers can easily measure their response and sales revenue against what they have spent on advertising.
Today there are a number of interesting search programs that include PPC advertising and are well worth taking a look at because they are capable of providing the perfect solution for many online marketing and advertising problems.

Some of the Best PPC Advertising Tricks for Better Click Through Ratio
Having good content in your site and compelling l;anding page is a good thing that helps in the process of lead generation, but what comes before all this is the success of the website;s ad. The paid advertisement that is placed in the search engines are called the paid ads or PPC Advertising, meaning pay per click advertising. It is these ads that attract the users and pull them into the website. It is not always that the PPC Ads are able to attract visitors to click through them.
Achieving this target is definitely not easy, here are some simple tricks that will help you get clicks through for your PPC Advertisings. One of the most effective tool to enable your PPC Advertising campaign to run, is the use of optimum keywords. Keywords are the prime source of any search in the search engines, hence, until and unless the websites is optimized for the keywords in the search engine the ranking process does not take place.
Optimization of keyword in the PPC Advertising camp is based on the bidding technique. Bids are placed on keywords and payments are done on each click through. In order to make your advertiser click through your website ad placed in the search engine, you must make sure that your keywords are most relevant to their search, and that they match your website content too. If your website is not directly related to the subject, it would become difficult to attract users. The next essential feature in the success of a website PPC Advertising campaign is the use of interesting and compelling content in the site. If the content is too flat and uninviting, not many people will click on it.
There are mainly two ways in which, you can write the content of your site, first the compelling way, which means that you call the compressor by force and the other is the alluring way, in which you attract the user with your features, your keywords and most importantly text. Hence to make use of PPC Advertising in your internet marketing campaign, it is suggested that you diligently follow the facts discussed above and experience your journey into the land of internet marketing.
