How to Search Better and Get Results!
How to Search Better and Get Results!
Do you have trouble getting relevant results when you search online? Here are a few search tips:
Google
Google is the most popular and commonly used search engine. Google search is case insensitive and does not require punctuation. For example while searching for the review of a movie, you do not need to type “the godfather + movie + imdb” or include special characters in search queries. However if you are searching for products or terms that include special characters like Nokia or C++, then the punctuation will not be ignored.
If you do want to phrase match or narrow down your search results, you may use quotation marks or the plus symbol right after the word. For example: – “Nokia ” or Nokia + Do not add space between the word and +.
Another way to narrow down search results is use of the minus sign. This helps you exclude the terms you wants filtered out of your search results. For example if you were to search for “malware-software” then the search results will display sites that refer to malware but not to related software.
Another powerful feature is the use of the asterisk or (*). The * can be used as a substitute for words. For example if you are searching for “lady gaga * concerts * 2008″ will display search results for different lady gaga concerts in 2008.
You can also use “OR” if you want the search results to display specifically either search terms. For example, if you want to see FIFA world cup news from both 2006 and 2010, this is how the search query should appear “FIFA world cup 2006 OR 2010.” The search results displayed will be in reference to either one of these years. However if your search query is “FIFA world cup 2006 2010″, the word “AND” is used as a default operator and you will get search results that include references to both years.
The important thing to note while using the OR operator, is that OR should appear in caps. This rule does not apply to phrases that include the word “or.” For example, “Do or die” – “or” will not be treated as the “OR” operator.
To get best results, keep the search queries simple. For example if you want to search for new movies releasing this week, you do not have to type “what are the new movies releasing this week?”
“New movies this week” or “new DVD releases” will suffice.
Also use words that best describe your query for example “top 10 DVD releases” or “The New Stephanie Meyer Novel.”
It is advisable to use more than one search engine while searching because no two search engines index sites the same way and for best results, be sure to read through the special tips section of each search engine.
Ten Tips to Help your Web Site Rank Better in Google
Ten Tips to Help your Web Site Rank Better in Google
Over 80 percent of Internet users use Google to find products and services on the world wide web. It stands to reason that if you want to generate more qualified sales leads you need to rank on the first or second page within the search engines results pages on Google.
As Google gets more and more sophisticated with each algorithm update, search engine optimisation methods have to change to keep getting good results.
Here is a list of ten important tactics that you can use to improve your Google rankings.
Sign up for Google Adwords Although Google will deny it, anecdotal evidence suggests that Goggle favors Adwords customers over non-Adwords customers. This is true for new web sites that often take months to get spidered and indexed by Google. I have seen brand new sites get spidered, indexed and listed in the search engine results pages in as little as a week.
It doesn’t have to cost a lot either. You can set up a low budget campaign of 50 cents to one dollar a day and still get favorable treatment.
Use the right keyword phrase The most important factor in getting quality web traffic is to
optimize your web pages for the correct keyword phrase. Getting the most sales is often a balance between search volume for key words and level of competition. Use the Overture keyword tool and Google Adwords tool to research and identify your best keyword phrases. Look for keyword phrases that have high search volume, but low competition. It also pays to see what key words your successful competitors are optimising for.
Put your key word phrase in your title tag Forget about putting your company name in the title tag (unless it is a valuable part of the key words), it’s a waste of words and will not help you rank in the search engines. The first three of four words in your title tag should be the key word phrase you are trying to optimize for. Try to limit your total character count to 60 characters.
Write an attractive page description tag Title tags are for search engines, description tags are for people. Spend time researching and writing a description tag that compels the reader to click on your listing. Come up with a great offer, use action words. Use shock and awe. Use anything that will get them to click.
Use H1 tags An often neglected search engine optimisation technique is to put your keyword phrase in H1 tags on your page. This tells Google that the following text is about your keyword phrase. Google weights H1 tags nearly as highly as title tags. This tip alone can drastically improve your Google. Similarly, the use of bold and strong html tags can emphasize a key word phrase within the paragraph text where it may not be appropriate to use H1 or H2 tags.
Get the right keyword ratio Aim for a keyword density of around 3-5% of the page contents. Try to work your key word phrase into the page so that it reads naturally. This may take some research and analysis of successful web sites. Remember to use headings and sub-headings that include your key words.
Use alt tags and description tags on images Key words used image file names, alt tags and description tags add to the key word density of any web page. They doesn’t make a huge difference, but every little bit helps. In some product classes a Google image search may lead web surfers to your web site.
Get quality one-way incoming links through article marketing and directory submissions As far as Google is concerned; link exchanges are just about dead. They can help to get your web site spidered and indexed more quickly, but these days they add very little in terms of Google search engine rankings unless the link is on a trusted site and that site has excellent page rank. Wikipedia and DMOZ are examples of such trusted sites.
A more effective approach is to write interesting and informative articles and submit them to article directories. Make sure that you use the author bio/resource box to maximum advantage by using your key word phrase in the link anchor text, AND, by pointing the anchor text to the correct page. Your home page may not be the best choice of pages for your selected key phrase. This will also ensure that more pages than just your home page gets indexed.
Use Social book marking If you have something newsworthy, humorous, quirky, unique or shocking to say, submit a link to your web page to sites like digg.com or redit.com. These up and coming web 2.0 power houses can create a buzz overnight driving thousands of interested visitors to your web site.
Note, just because you build it doesn’t mean they will come. If it’s boring link it will quickly get buried by newer and more interesting stories. But what the hell, it’s free to submit links to these sites and you never know your luck.
Record a podcast Google loves podcasts … it just loves them. Get yourself a decent microphone and some podcasting software like Audacity and go for it. Once you have an interesting and tightly edited podcast, put it on your web site and submit it to all the major podcasting directories like iTunes and Podomatic.

Better Search Engine Ranks – 5 Tips to Get In Good with Google
Better Search Engine Ranks – 5 Tips to Get In Good with Google
If you want a successful website, then you’ll have to take search engine rankings if you want the free traffic that the search engines can provide. As one of the most popular search engines, receives over 300 million searches per day and has literally billions of pages in the Google index. So, you definitely want to get in good with Google for success on the web. Let’s talk about how you can get better search engine ranks with Google. Here are a few tips that can help.
Tip #1 – Use Keywords in the URL – If you want better search engine ranks with Google use your primary keywords in the URL. When you make the website name or even when you create other pages to the website, using specific keywords in the URLs can definitely help you get better search engine rankings with Google and other search engines as well.
Tip #2 – Use Keywords in Page Names – As you create content for your site, name each page after the primary keyword for that page without overdoing it. Your visitors should be able to instantly tell what the page is about from the page name. But don’t go overboard with long-tail phrases because if they are too long they can get cut off in search engine results. Overly long page names can also be penalized by Google and other search engines as spam.
Tip #3 – Use Keywords in Web Content – While you shouldn’t totally jam your content full of keywords, using your keywords throughout your content and articles, will help you achieve better search engine rankings.
Tip #4 – Build Back Links – Link popularity is critically important. You need to make building back links a priority if you want to get in good with Google. There are a variety of different ways that you can build up links that point back to your site. You can use Forum posts and press releases but the method I highly recommend is article marketing.
Tip #5 – Theme of the Page and Entire Site – The theme of your site and each page should be in agreement. Instead of jumping from topic to topic, it is best to keep your site and each page focused on one theme to get better ranks with Google. While your site does not have to be one single, narrowly focused topic, it should not stray from a central theme of related topics.
So, if you want better search engine ranks, give these tips a try.
10 Tips to Make Google Better
10 Tips to Make Google Better
Here are 10 things it could do to improve itself:
1) Google needs to fix several advanced search problems. Many of them have been known for several months. These are things that should work. For example, having the Boolean operator OR work properly. Greg Notess points out many of them on his site. A feature that would be nice to have is the ability to turn Google’s new autostemming feature on or off.
2) Google’s page estimates haven’t been close to accurate for many months. I’ve been told that they’re, “just estimates.” However, can’t estimates be more accurate?
3) Advanced search documentation should state that longer html web pages (over 101kb) and pdf files (over 120kb) are indexed only up to those points. If what you need to find is past that arbitrary limit, you will not find it. Why won’t Google state that they have size restrictions?
4) The company should clearly state that they don’t show all backlinks when running a link: search.
5) Google needs to work harder to remove spam and many duplicates and near duplicates from the database. If that doesn’t work, how about clustering them underneath one representative page?
6) I’ve been a Blogger customer for a couple of years. I’m also supposed to have better access to customer service since I’m a former Blogger Pro customer. I had a problem about a month ago (it’s been solved) but I’ve yet to hear back from Blogger’s customer service. I’ve also heard from a few people that customer service for Google Appliance customers might also leave a bit to be desired.
7) I agree with Danny Sullivan, Google Bombing/manipulation is an issue that needs to be addressed.
When the company announces a new service it should work properly. Three weeks ago they announced a shortcut allowing you to enter an airline name and flight number. However, it doesn’t work for many airlines (including two major airlines in Google’s home state California and for some flights if it has a four digit flight number.)
9) In late August IEEE announced that Google was crawling abstracts of their publication database. According to the news release, the project was to be completed by September. That was five months ago and a very small percentage of IEEE material appears in Google. What happened?
10) In 2001 Google spokesperson David Krane told News.Com, “…we’ve firmly established ourselves as the No. 1 search service on the Internet, and this can be attributed to our laser-like focus on a search-only business model.” It’s obvious that this business model is gone.
Some Tips to Make Adsense Work Better for You!
Some Tips to Make Adsense Work Better for You!
Despite what you may hear, the Google Adsense program is not for everyone. There are some types of web sites that do poorly no matter how hard the owners try, and there are others that should be doing well but the webmaster simply isn’t putting in the effort to make things happen.
Here are some tips to make Adsense work better for you. If you do them all and you are still not having any luck, for more details visit to www.instant-adsense-dollars.com then you just might be running one of those sites that don’t make money
1. Determine if your visitors are in the mood.
Like I mentioned at the top of this article, some web sites just dont work with pay-per-click programs. The best performing sites fall into one of these categories:
Sites where users go and expect to buy something while they are there. E-commerce sites fit the bill here.
Sites where users go to find specific information on something that they want to buy now. Music and video review sites, vacation information sites, resume building sites, etc. You don’t have to actually be selling these types of things; for more details visit to www.adsense-income-exposed.com your site can just be a mecca for information pertaining to these things. Then, when the visitor comes to read your content, they are more likely to click on your ads.
Sites where people who have disposable income and a credit card like to visit.
This includes sites with money management, investing and lifestyle content.
Sites that draw a large amount of new users every day. Free coupon sites and How to sites are good examples.
Sites where people go who expect to read ads. Classified ads and shopping comparison sites fit into this category.
2. Make sure that your visitors don’t feel that you just want to grab their money
Give them plenty of relevant and well-written content. If writing isn’t your best skill then hire someone to do it for you. Good content brings steady traffic and steady traffic pays the bills.
3. Play by the rules
Google has some very specific Terms of Service for participating in their Adsense program. Learn those rules and follow them so you don’t lose all of your investment by getting shut out.
4. Use the tools that Google gives you
Google gives you tools for determining the best keywords for your site, measuring ad performance, and setting up different ad channels for fine-tuning ad results. These guys and girls are the 800 lb. Gorillas in the Pay-Per-Click market. They didn’t build these tools just to keep their programmers busy. Take advantage of their knowledge for they are very big and you are not!
5. Tweak, fine-tune and then tweak again
You should never be happy with your Adsense performance. If it’s good, then you need to make it great. If it’s great then you need to make it amazing. If it’s amazing then you need to take it to the UPS club.
The UPS club? Google sends all checks over ,000 per month to the webmaster via UPS overnight delivery. Now there is a club that I wouldn’t mind belonging to.
6. Get more traffic
No matter how much traffic you have, you need more. More eyeballs translate to more clicks. Even if you are only pulling a 2% click-through. That’s a lot of clicks when you have thousands of visitors each day.
7. Experiment with new keywords
New keywords can bring new ads and new eyeballs along with it. Set up some new pages on your site and experiment with different content. Once you get something that’s working then refer back to Tip # 5.
You can see results in near real time when you use Google’s AdWords. Don’t be afraid to be different. If something that everyone else is doing doesn’t work for you, then invent something that does work and get it on your site.

Build A Better Online Business Using A Twitter Marketing Campaign
Build A Better Online Business Using A Twitter Marketing Campaign
Please note that this article is about making money with Twitter. This topic is fully covered in 2 products I would highly recommend: niche blueprint and miracle traffic bot. Now let’s get into it…
Twitter is a very basic and easy to use social marketing tool, yet it can be a key part of any well-rounded marketing campaign or promotion when used effectively. In order to reach out to your target market and gain new customers, you should consider trying out Twitter marketing. It doesn’t matter what type of a business you run, what kind of website you have or you’re simply a blogger looking for more traffic, Twitter can work for you. Using Twitter to drive traffic is an easy method to master once you understand why it works. You can use it for many purposes such as updating your customers about the changes in your company, sharing new information and tips, promoting your products, special deals, discounts, etc. Once you see what Twitter can do you will be inspired to layer it throughout your marketing campaign and find even more ways to use it to your advantage. Twitter not only helps you to find new customers and tap into your target demographic, but it also provides a means to stay in touch with those customers after they’ve made a purchase and create a working relationship with them for the future. We will detail the benefits that you will enjoy with Twitter marketing and how Twitter can be used to expand your business.
When running a business, you need to realize that connecting to your customers is of vital importance. Due to the shear volume of people on Twitter, the target audience you are aiming at is probably already there. This is your moment, the perfect opportunity for you to contact those consumers and bring them to your website. Being one of the more constantly used web apps on the the net, people are always checking their Twitter. It would be a waste to not target such an avidly followed part of someones life. Lots of people begin their day by tweeting and their online friends anxiously await their tweets and then respond with their thoughts. If someone is unhappy about a product or service, you’d better believe they will tweet about their discontent. You will be able to be even more responsive allowing better customer support. You will also be able to improve situations more reactively. It is necessarily to keep up with each problem your business faces, and through Twitter you can be constantly updated on how to work through your marketing.
You can also use Twitter to better brand your business or products online. That’s right, there many big companies such as Nike, Starbucks, CNN, etc who are branding themselves on Twitter and creating a following. But the good part about Twitter is that you don’t need to be a multi-billion dollar corporation to build your own brand. While you might have even a tiny business, through Twitter, you can build a brand name.
However, you need to create a brand for yourself before making a business brand. People want to amass friends on Twitter rather than interact with a faceless corporation so the key is relationships. Twitter has shown the value of relationships and loyalty and how much people in our culture yearn for a personal interface instead of automated responses. If you use Twitter regularly to tweet about interesting things on your products and services and drive folks to your site and blog, you’ll find Twitter valuable. All in all, Twitter is a great place to grow your business and monitor your competition. You are going to have access to the most recent information available about your business, which you can relay to your followers, building even more credibility for you. You will be able to build a firm and enduring relationship with your followers, and over time this will bring you a solid and growing business.
The Google Monitor Tools You need Fore Better Rankings
Here is a list of tools that help monitor a site’s standing with the three big search engines. This is not meant as a complete collection of tools, but rather a look at what is out there.
Google Site Information Page
There is a great deal of information on a site’s search engine standings that can be easily found directly through the search box on the Google home page. Simply typing in info:xyzsitenameandsuffix will bring up information like what sites Google considers to be similar and a list of all the sites that have linked to the site being searched as well as all sites that contain the site’s url regardless of it being a hyperlink or plain text. Even though the data from “info:” command is not always accurate and complete, it does give a quick and way to find out all of a site’s backlinks. The “site:” command is also useful for finding out which pages of a site has been indexed by Google’s Spider. Along with the “site:” feature, there are many other search and site monitors available from Google for free.
When was a Site Last Indexed by Google’s Spiders?
Google maintains an up-to-date index of every webpage in its search results through an automated program called the Google Spider. Whenever a page has been indexed, the Google Spider also keeps a copy of that particular page in its cache. Checking out a page’s cache date will also give the date of the last time that page was indexed through the Google Spider. Information on a page’s Google cache can be easily found through the “site:” command described above and also by putting in the site’s url into Google’s search box and running a search. It should be remembered that xyzsite.com and www.xyzsite.com are indexed and cached differently by Google, so both sites will have different cache times.
Yahoo Site Information
Yahoo’s has a service similar to Google’s “info:” tool in their Search Meta Words help page. The information obtained from the Meta Words pages are things like what sites are linking to the site being searched, what pages of the site are indexed by Yahoo Search, what pages were previously cached and more.
Site Information on MSN
Just like Yahoo and Google, Microsoft also offers a complete range of site monitor tools. Site owners can find data on about their site’s status with the web crawler at MSN Search’s and the time it was last indexed. MSN’s site:www.xyzsite.com works exactly like Google’s “info:” command. Typing that into a msn search box gives indexing data as well as when the last page was cached.
What is the Site’s Google Rank?
Google Rankings is just one of the many search monitors and site monitors offered by Google. Although using the Google Rankings service requires an API key, it allows webmasters to find their site’s search engine position in the top 40 to 1000 results for a keyword. Additionally, Google Rankings also shows a site’s rank on MSN and Yahoo’s search engines. Google Rankings forms part of a complete site monitoring package with another utility called the Ultimate SEO Tool. The Ultimate SEO Tool measures a site’s keyword density.
Check a Site’s Backlinks in Google
The Backlink Checker tool, found at LilEngine.com, is an ideal way for comparing the number of backlinks a site has compared to its competing sites. Although a larger number of backlinks a site possesses will improve the site’s page-rank, many other factors can also influence a site’s ultimate search engine position.
A Site’s Position in Yahoo Search
Yahoo Search Rankings comes from the same people who have brought Google Rankings and shows the site’s position in Yahoo’s top 1000 results for a given keyword. Yahoo’s Web API developer site contains even more search engine monitoring tools.
What Makes One Search Engine Better Than the Next
With the internet being the most useful tool one can use to search for information on any subject in the world, do you know that there are actually a few search engines that one can use to search the internet? Google is probably the most popular search engine that people use most often. Yahoo, Ask, and Dogpile are some common names of search engines that you may find familiar. There may be some unfamiliar SE’s (search engines) that you may not have ever heard of. Bing is a new name in SE’s but is formally known as MSN Search and Live Search. With so many different companies offering their services to you to search the internet, what makes each one different or better than the rest? Here is an overview of some of the more popular SE’s on the internet.
Google Search- Google, Inc owns Google Search which was founded in 1997. It is the most frequently used search engine on the internet today. Google usually receives a few hundred million searches a day! Can you imagine, a few hundred million? This largely due to Google offering other services rather than just keyword searches. The keywords are a set of words a person types into the Google search box. Other services that Google offers are weather forecasts, synonyms, stock quotes, time zones, maps and sports scores. There are 22 special features in all. Google also has SE’s that target specific countries. In the UK, a person can search on a Google UK search engine.
Yahoo! Search- Yahoo! Search is the third most widely used search engine today. It falls behind Google Search and Bing. In the 1990’s, Yahoo! Search was transformed into a complete search engine after starting off as a web directory. A web directory is a site that list other websites and may link them categories. Keywords cannot be searched on a web directory. Available through Yahoo! Search is a UK search engine too. This is helpful when living in specific areas of the world and needing to narrow down a search.
Bing- Bing is a brand new search engine available on the internet today. . Well, not completely new because it was formally known as Live Search, MSN Search and Windows Live Search. It became available to the public on June 3, 2009 and has received some great reviews already. The main advancement that Bing has over other SE’s is that the searches are done in real time. Meaning, the keywords that are searched on give results on a real time basis. It provides a list of websites in real time opposed to a list of websites that were listed days before. That is a big plus when you are looking for the most current information you can find.
The choice is yours as to which SE you want to use to search the internet. They all basically perform the same function and that is to search out all the websites to provide you with the all information you could ever want or dream of.
