Article Optimization – Directory Submission 101

Article Optimization – Directory Submission 101

It is a pleasurable challenge writing to Ezine and Article publishing Directories.  This is the “sandbox” that most writers are contributing to today.  More articles are written and show up as an entry to Google, Yahoo, MSN, AltaVist and other search engines than their are websites.  Some websites are articles in themselves.  It is much easier to write an article than it is to build a new website for most of us.  The common person may not be able to do build their own website, but he or she may have the talent to be a successful writer. Think of the competition though!  Thousands of writers writing about their content, promoting their website, and sharing their ideas.  The numbers are overwhelming!  There are a number of things that a writer needs to be aware of when submitting articles to develop a mass readership.
<b>Article Optimization</b> – If you want your article to show up on page number one of Google, it has to be optimized.  Optimization is done by following some of the simple rules called “Search Engine Optimization“.
Choose a <b>high quality article directory</b> to submit to.  This will contribute a great deal to getting the article close to the number one spot.  You can determine the <i>article directories PR rating</i> in Google ·by installing the Google task bar on you browser and going to the article directory website.  Contributing your article to the directory is a very simple thing.  You will have to provide personal information, possibly a pen name, your website url if you have one, and the category you will be writing about.
Use <b>keyword rich content</b> in the title, teaser, and body of the article.  You have to do some keyword research and plug them in to your article every chance that you can.  A good example in this article would be the keyword “<u>article directory</u>”.  It has to make sense when you use it.  Once every paragraph or two and your readers will not get bored with the article and keep reading until the end of the article.
Use bold, italic, and underline when it seems appropriate with your keywords.  Using Google, go look up some of your favorite keywords.  You will notice in the list of Google links that the keywords you put in are in bold.  Google picks up on the keywords.  Let me repeat that, Google picks up on the keywords.  In SEO Made Easy, the author indicates that not only does Google pick up on keywords, but Google picks up on keywords that are in bold, italic, and underlined.
Article Directories will let you place one to three incidents of anchor text in the body of the article.  This is an excellent way to <i>get a link back to your website</i>!  Google takes a while to do this, but eventually it will index the article and register the link.  You can work in your keywords in clever fashion this way.  If you have a website, and you are promoting your website in the article, this is the opportunity to use the keywords from your website.  If the article directory allows the technique, html anchor text entries can be made in the body of the article as well as the bio.  The reader would not normally know that html was being used.  Of course the Article Dircetory has to accept html code for this to work.
<b>Use anchor text</b> in the article writers bio.  <i>Most Article Directories</i> accept three, others will only allow you one.  This is the sales pitch.  If you have interesting content in the article, and have succeeded in convincing your reader that your contribution is worth investigating some more, they will want to go to your website and look some more!  This is the author’s sincere wish most of all, to gain trust and repore with his or her readers and to start a continuing business relationship.  It can be done with a proper close to the article asking for the reader to “come on in, the water is fine!”
<b>Article Writing</b> – If you want your article to be read from start to finish, <i>choose keywords and content that will make sense to the reader</i>.  Don’t try to write about nuclear physics to a business crowd.
<b>Determine your audience</b>.  This is done easily by entering your keywords into Google.  Look at the number of entries returned.  An article will be successful if you choose an audience that is not to large that you cannot compete against and not so small that you will only expose the article too few times to too few readers.  When starting, it is a good idea to start with keywords that are getting about 30 hits a day at Overture.  Normally there would also be less than ten million entries returned from the Google keyword search for your topic.  Work on the larger populations when you get this down.  You will find innumerable targets and keywords that you can do this with.  There is no end to topics available on the internet.  What a rich source of information!
<b>Use original content</b> when submitting to <u>Article Directories</u>.  They have a way of finding out if your content is not original.  Article directory submission guidelines always require you have exclusive license allows your name to be associated with the articles produced for you or by you.  So don’t do it.  You will get caught!
Enjoy your writing!  The world is open to to your ideas and more than willing to accept what you have to offer, if it is done the right way!

Improve Your Search Engine Ranking With Article Marketing

Search engine ranking can be improved by the proper use of article marketing, and many merketers achieve high search engine listings using articles. If you understand how search engines work to calculate their search engine results positions, then you can use that understanding to achive very high serch engine rankings.

In the current economic climate when every dollar counts, you need a high search engine ranking to help you to achieve success, and article marketing provides you with a way of doing that.

That is not to infer that other means of promoting your website are not worth considering but it is a fact that an increasing number of articles are appearing in the Google listings for specific keywords. In fact, it is difficult at times to find a Google results page without at least one article listed on the page of an article directory. That in itself is sufficient incentive for anybody to use article marketing to improve their search engine ranking and so the traffic to their website.

So how do you do it? How do you get your article listed in page 1 of Google, as many of them are? YOU don’t really hav much to do when you use article directoris to promote your articles, because they do all the hard SEO, while all you have to do is to use your keywords in the article without overdoing it, and provide good relevant content through use of vocabulary.

Although this is popularly known as LSI (latent semantic indexing) it isn’t really, because LSI is a concept as opposed to an SEO technique. What people really mean when using the term is that your text should contain vocabulary that relates to the keyword in a way that makes it clear to search engine algorithms just what the topic of your article is. Google will notice if you get it right: that is because Google regards the LSI algorithm of extreme importance in determining the relevance of your article to the keyword used by the Google user.

When writing articles, and using SEO to optimize them, never lose sight of the fact that the most important party here is the Google customer using the search engine to find information using the search term they have entered into the Google search box. Google will analyze every web page, including article directory pages, to find content that is most related to the keyword that Google customer is using. When your content is judged to have high relevance to the keyword used by the search engine customer, then that is when you get a high search engine ranking.

This is where a well written article, with well placed keywords (but not too many of them) will get your article listed on Page #1 for the keyword being used, and so as much traffic as possible. Every search term is different, and many fail to appreciate the fact. Your page is only open to one perrson ata time: the one who is carrying out the search at that moment. Although the monthly demand for that keyword might be 10,000, it is on view to only one person for each individual search, and you have to persuade the search engine (whether Google, Yahoo or any other\0 that your page is worthy of a Page #1 position.

How you do that is up to you, but you are unlikely to achieve that coveted first page listing without expert advice, and instruction on how to do it. Article marketing can be used to get you a high search engine ranking but you have to know how to do it for you to succeed.

Search Engine Rankings—how to Test the Effectiveness of your Article Writing

You write an article related to the topic in your web site. You include a link back to your web site. You submit this article to a number of online article directories. The article directories make your articles available for ezine and online newsletters to use as content. Some of the article directories use RSS feeds to get your article out to as many web sites as possible.

What happens next? Your link is being virally propagated throughout the web world. As that happens, the search engines begin to give your web site a higher ranking based on your link popularity.

Does this happen like that in the real world?

Only effective testing and tracking for these types of things can give you that answer. The best testing is the testing you do yourself.

So how to do it?

Perform the following test:

1) Write 10 articles.

2) Put a keyword-linked “live link” in the bio for each of your articles. For example, the keyword phrase for the “live link” in this article is “search engine rankings”.

3) For this test, use a search phrase that has at least 3 words in it. (This will make it easier to see fast results; the principle is the same for looser word phrases with fewer words, it just takes many more links and articles to see results)

4) Use Google and Yahoo search to find article titles that are being used by no one else. To do this, type your proposed article title ‘in quotes’ into both search engines and alter it until you come up with a title that the search engines will give you a no results return to your search.

5) Send your article to at least twenty of the biggest article directories. (I cannot include the list in this article due to article directory requirements, but if you access me via the live link and send me an email asking for my top 50 or so, I will gladly send it to you)

6) After about a week, look up the article title, again in quotes, in Google and Yahoo. Do it again every week for a month. Look up your keyword phrase. Count how many times one of your articles is listed in the search results for the top 10, top 30, and top 100. This is certainly not a scientific test of any sort, but I think you will be surprised at the results. Let me know!

Real Estate Article: Internet Marketing Sells Homes

When it comes to selling a home, in today’s world, a tech-savvy listing agent is more important than you may think. No longer are simple newspaper ads, or faxes to the multiple listing service enough. In our information hungry society, the agents who are up-to-date with internet marketing techniques will get their listings noticed faster.

Traditional marketing methods are still important. But, with 80% of home buyers starting their search online, a real estate agent with an online presence will get your listing noticed. Simply looking at an agencies website (or an agent’s site) can let you know about their Internet marketing plan.

Here is what a good marketing plan should include:

Both an Agency and an Agent’s Site:

To put is simply, websites matter in the real estate business. The agent you choose should have his/her own site. The agency itself should also have a site. Clean site designs, and regular updates, are both good indications that they are up to date with their marketing techniques.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO):

Having a website isn’t enough by itself. In order for people to find that site needs to be optimized for search engines. One good indication that the company is working towards SEO is regular content updates with useful information for buyers.

To find out how well a site is already optimized, try Googling “real estate (insert city here)”. If the agent’s, or the agencies, site show up on the first few pages this indicate good SEO.

Multiple Listing Service (with IDX):

MLS’s or multiple listing services have been around for a while. They provide the processes through which an agency can share their listings with other real estate agencies. There aren’t many agencies that don’t use these services. In today’s world, however, you want MLS with IDX.

IDX stands for internet data exchange. The term actually comes from the computer industry. As it applies to real estate, it is the process through which a real estate site can gather information from the multiple listing services for display on their own website.

To find out if an agencies site is IDX enabled (most agent’s personal sites most likely won’t be), do a search MLS listings for the area. Look at one listing on that site, and then find the same listing on the agency site. If they are similar in content (not style) then the site is likely IDX enabled.

Listing Syndication:

This is one area that many agencies overlook. When a listing is submitted to an MLS service the listing will also be syndicated on Realtor.com. Some agencies feel this is enough and forget the other syndication services. Trulia.com, Google Base, Yahoo Real Estate, and Propsmart, are just some of the bigger services.

To see if an agent takes the time to syndicate their listings head to one of those sites, and search for the agent (or agency) by name.

When it’s time to sell your home, it is important that you choose an agent that is up with the times. You now have a few simple methods to check for yourself.

The other, obvious, method would be to ask. When you mention SEO or IDX, and they look at you with a blank stare, it may be a good indication that you should find a different listing agent.

How to Increase your Article Page Views

Are your articles getting as many page views as they deserve? Are we submitting our work to the best sites for the niches we write for? Many of us who write articles tend to be a little lazy when it comes to submitting our work. We submit articles to the same sites over and over because we’ve always used those sites. Or maybe we read somewhere that the sites we use are the best out there. Do a little research and take a fresh look at your submission sites; you might see a substantial increase in your page views.

If you are writing less than five articles each day, you should submit them to at least 30-40 sites. Of course, to do this efficiently, you will need to use one of the article submission programs. There are many available and some are quite reasonably priced or even free. If you are writing five or more articles each day, you may only have time to submit them to ten or twelve sites.

There are some nice websites out there that can assist you in choosing your article submission sites. http://www.beansoftware.com/Article-Sites-Master-List.aspx is an excellent source. For each listing, they provide you with the Google page rank and the Alexa rating along with the year of inception. If you are looking for largest sites, their rating system makes it very easy. The larger, more popular sites have high Google page ranking and low Alexa numbers.

In addition to selecting large sites, you may want to consider sites that concentrate in the niche you write for. This could be especially important if you write for a small, specialized sector. There are some excellent sources for this type of information. http://www.freelancemom.com/submitarticles.htm provides links to over 500 article submission sites. Many of them are small, niche type sites that specialize in a particular area.

After developing the list of new sites that you selected, add them to the list that you are currently submitting to. You shouldn’t eliminate all of the sites on your current list because you may have readers that look for your work on those sites. So, be careful when eliminating submission sites. However, if you are only getting four page views per month from xyz site, you should probably eliminate them.

Submit several articles to your new list of submission sites. After a week or so, research the page views that your articles are achieving. Are you getting as many (or hopefully more) page views than you were getting previously? Where are the largest numbers of page views coming from? If your niche sites are giving you more page views, look to add additional similar sites. By making these changes to your submissions, you should see some significant improvement.

seo article directories seo page rank

Utilizing effective search engine optimization techniques will improve the page rank of your website.Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process by which webmasters or online business owners utilize strategic copy to increase their website’s popularity. Given that the internet has grown so rapidly over the past decade, the competition for the best search engine position has created an enormous market focused on how best to position a website for better rankings on Google, Yahoo and other prominent search engines. Therefore, understanding the fundamental elements of SEO is critical to online business’ success.

Search engines are sophisticated pieces of technology that allow users to quickly find relevant websites by searching for a simple word or phrase (e.g. “day spas”). While there are many tricks that can be used to increase page rank, the most effective methods must include providing consistently high quality online articles. This seems like a simple concept, but there are many websites that fail to provide content that visitors find interesting. If you can set your website apart from these boring, lifeless sites, then you’re already a step closer to achieving high page rank via search engine optimization. Sites that provide articles that are informative, well-written, and regularly updated create highly engaged online visitors who are more likely to return to the site I the future.

The second critical component of effective search engine optimization is to include key words and phrases within your articles. These keyword phrases should mirror the phrases that website visitors use when traversing the web. Visit your site’s traffic report to determine what keywords are drawing visitors to your site already, and make an effort to incorporate those words into your articles. Alternatively, study your competitors’ websites to determine what words they use to attract traffic. Be sure to use simple titles that clearly state what the article is about, and try to include a keyword or two in the title if possible. The more key words you use in your articles, the more likely it is that visitors will find your site when they conduct a search with those words. If you are consistent with these methods, your overall search engine optimization will increase, which will in turn boost your page rank.

Next, when writing articles to post on your site, make sure you develop a clear means of organizing their content. This can often be done by simply adding a new page to your site. This will allow room for more articles to be added as you write them, and allow you to develop an archive of articles that will continue to draw unique visitors. Be sure to include your archived articles in a directory that is near the root web of your site, to ensure that search engines effectively index your online articles. Don’t forget to add the pages to your site navigation, and include links to and from the main page and the articles page. Creating an articles page that is easy to find not only makes your content more readily accessible, but also allows spiders searching the web to tag a larger percentage of your sites’ information.

Finally, consider allowing others to link to your website. Not only does this provide free advertising for your site, but it creates the impression that your site is important because of its affiliated links. Just be sure that you avoid linking to pages that have a lower page rank than your own; it actually could reduce your site’s popularity within the rankings.

Search engine optimization strategies are important in developing your site’s popularity. Therefore, write high quality, keyword rich content and link your site to and from a strategic family of other sites. In so doing, you will help improve your site’s popularity and, hopefully, drive increased business through your online business.
