Websites which are listed on top of search engine results are considered to be very trustworthy and also generates more leads, sales, and conversions. SEO expert team in our company will help your website to attain guaranteed top position in search engines like Google, Yahoo & Bing. Website visibility converts to customers: 82% of local organic searches resulted in contact with a local vendor. As much as 75% of all clicks are made on organic, non-paid listings vs. Web 2.0 has ushered in a new era in the still nascent world of internet marketing. Studies show that the advent of blogs, social media platforms, social bookmarking sites and other web 2.0 initiatives has resulted in over 44% of internet users becoming content creators.
Keyword enriched, salable content. Developing content for your website is one of the best investments you can make. Keyword stuffing is considered an unethical practice because what you actually do is use the keyword in question throughout the text suspiciously often. Having in mind that the recommended keyword density is from 3 to 7%, anything above this, say 10% density starts to look very much like keyword stuffing and it is likely that will not get unnoticed by search engines.
Articles should focus on one or two keyword or phrases at most. Stuffing an article with every possible keyword phrase related to the topic will only bring the search engine ratings down. Article marketing is an excellent way to increase your search engine ranking. Write articles with good content for the reader about your industry and product or service expertise.
Web positioning techniques will deliver visitors but the usability of your site is what will keep them there. Websites can have a high ranking today, but may slip as more sites get listed in this site category. It is therefore necessary to monitor your Web site’s search rank and traffic stats frequently and implement periodic positioning maintenance. Web masters and business owners alike realize that getting noticed on Google now requires a well thought out strategy and regular evaluation and updates.
Meta tags are not meant to be used for keyword stuffing. Don’t use them for that purpose because it isn’t going to help you. Meta tags is one of the better methods in increasing the reputation of the website, now in order to make your website SEO friendly, you have to pursue some basic straightforward rules. You can either try the algorithmic SEO or the organic SEO.
Search engines will always look at some portion of your blog starting at the top. Do not stack keywords in the beginning but be keenly aware of the difference you can make with well chosen and placed words. Search Engines tend to be strict when enforcing these rules in order to provide better quality in their SERPs and retain & grow their own user base. SEO Choice is a white hat search engine optimization company which practices ethical, organic SEO through and through. Search Engine Optimization is an ongoing process, requiring addition of new fresh content, constant modification of site content, changes to site architecture and link building (this is a subset of search engine marketing). All of these together build traffic to a site, and are necessary to generate leads from a site.
Keywords play an important role in the way search engines index and rank websites. We work closely with our clients to ensure that their website content contains relevant keywords that target the natural queries of potential customers. Keyword density can be tricky but, as a general rule, Big Oak shoots for 3% to 12% of all text on a page to be our targeted keywords. Keyword-rich content is provided by our copywriting services. We do provide creation and management of internet advertising pay-per-click campaings in Google Adwords, Yahoo-Overture and similar.
Linking is the mechanism that connects all the pages on the Internet. You’ve got links throughout your web site to let people navigate their way around. Linking to a penalized website can really hurt your own website. This is why it’s very important to know who you’re linking to when not using the ‘nofollow attribute’ on your external links and internal links. Links build a bridge of trust between your website and the search engines, so it is a necessity to truly succeed online. Without high quality inbound links, your website simply won’t rank in the search engines.Internet users more than ever trust that search results will provide a useful and honest answer to their inquiries. Internet users conduct millions of searches every day on search engines such as Google, MSN, and Yahoo. As a result, most high-traffic websites receive a majority of their visitors from the search engines.Google, Yahoo and Bing January 2010 market share was just announced by Comscore.com this week. According to them, ”Americans conducted 15.2 billion core searches, with Google Sites accounting for 65.4 percent search market share. Google recommends headlines between 2 and 22 words for optimum visibility and search results. And Google results display only the first 63 characters of each headline.
Google ranks all the pages of your site, but how to be sure that everything works correctly? How to increase rank of the pages on your site? Google’s Let’s make the web faster web page asks the question “What would be possible if browsing the web was as fast as turning the pages of a magazine?”. This clues us in to their goal – instant response. Google returns more than 240 Million search results in the US every day. If you are trying to connect with your audience, optimizing your ranking in search results is an important component of your marketing and promotion plan.
The question is always being asked on many of the blogs and forums on the internet “How do I ensure my sites are properly Search Engine Optimization”.

Microsoft, Yahoo or Google, who will win the paid search battle in 2010? Recent acquisitions might add $10 billion in revenue to one company’s pocket

Microsoft plus Yahoo vs Google, Microsoft vs Yahoo and other variations of names in the paid search game seem to make all the headlines these days. A week ago, StatCounter Global Stats reported that Microsoft’s new search engine, Bing, has passed the market share of Yahoo’s engine. Since Bing’s launch, both companies have tried to secure their positions in the market, but obviously none of them can overcome Google’s dominance in the search industry, which commands over 70 per cent of the market.

While Microsoft has made a significant effort to compete with Google in the search space, Google is coming up with a new operating system that might put Microsoft behind in another market. Microsoft’s online search revenue is insignificant when compared to its total revenue ($86 million in revenue for online search vs $16 billion total for the last quarter). The operating system has been Microsoft’s cash cow. Now Google is invading the space and the market looks forward to see how Google’s Chrome OS will change the landscape in 2010.

Yahoo seems to be way behind in all business segments and its stock has drastically declined, especially since the deal with Microsoft fell apart and the recent acquisition offer was withdrawn.

After several back and forth dramatic scenes involving Icahn, Microsoft and Yahoo, no deal was made, and Yahoo’s stock kept going down, and now, coupled with the dramatic market crash, it is even more pronounced.

It was obvious that the Microsoft-Yahoo M&A deal could not go through in any case, as it could not win government approval unless Google had achieved near-monopoly leadership in paid search. Therefore, for Yahoo the hope for Microsoft’s acquisition rescue seemed to be naïve.

But!

But the latest move of Yahoo reminds me of an ad campaign of Mini Cooper that, a few years ago, made the brand’s image – a little guy finds his way and gets ahead of giants.

According to rumors that I picked up in Yahoo’s office cafeteria while visiting a friend the other day (truly never eat alone if you want to hear the latest news first), Yahoo seem to have come up with a strategy that is shockingly simple but might look phenomenal in its post-acquisition grandeur.

The content of the rumor is interesting – Yahoo intends to make an amusing defensive acquisition and buy the IdeaMama Ad Network, the ad technology division of a Canadian company with its office in Silicon Valley. At first I was puzzled why Yahoo would need this small funky company, but here is my take on it.

This acquisition can put Yahoo in the leadership position by allowing it to introduce a radically new category of on-line advertising.

Let’s explore it. The success of search companies hinges not so much on relevance of search and quality of search algorithms (yes, Yahoo will always remain behind there); their success at the end of the day depends on advertising revenue. The bottom line is all that matters.

Up-to-date search engines use CPC as the main advertising model. Some include affiliate marketing with CPS, but not everything is that simple there. CPC has no chance to win a considerable portion of advertisers’ budget for a number of reasons; one is that the conversion rate of clicks delivered by content partners along with MROI sometimes is questionable. On the other hand, many publishers won’t advertise with Yahoo or Google for the low compensation that CPC can offer. Research webmasters’ forums and you will see how much negativity AdSense receives; publishers hate it as it is a lousy media monetization option, but there are not many alternatives out there.

The Pay Per Sale model is always preferable to search engines. Google seems to provide affiliate marketing options, but only for selected advertisers. Not everybody can jump on the bandwagon. You have to accumulate a significant amount of clicks first and then demonstrate a high conversion ratio, that, by the way, Google’s algorithm doesn’t calculate very well – there are plenty of holes that prevent stats from displaying real numbers.

But even that is not the main challenge. The problem lies in vertical coverage. This model can serve only ecommerce companies, those that sell goods online. The gate is not wide open for every company – if you sell business services, complex technologies or highly priced consumer products and your sales is mainly made off-line, you are totally out of options – the current processes and technologies don’t support affiliate marketing for such companies, end of the story. But it is a shame.

Even if Internet ad spending grows to over $100 billion worldwide by 2010, it still could be increased significantly if only publishers could tap into the sales commissions that affiliate marketing offers. As an example, if a company’s online marketing budget is $100,000 a year, no marketer can ever get over the hump to spend $200K for CPC instead – no way, but advertisers can easily take a portion of $1M+ sales commission and reallocate to publishers, which now increases publishers’ revenue many fold.

If the rumor proves to be true, the reason why I think Yahoo decided to bite on IdeaMama’s PPD (Pay Per Deal) model and use their ingenious deal tracking process is that it enables Yahoo to chip sales dollars from the growing B2B segment that is not so keen to pass to Yahoo’s CPC their marketing dollars. In simple math, if Yahoo can attract 100,000 small to medium sized service and technology companies that currently spend their dollars on CPC with Google and lead generation programs with other vendors, and if each advertiser pays a 10% commission on sales generated by Yahoo ads with content partners’ participation, Yahoo can add annually $10 billion in revenue to their P&L, assuming that average sales added to advertisers’ balance sheet is as little as $10M annually.

Even if my math is half off, the move with this acquisition is absolute genius as Yahoo will be positioned as the only search engine that offers PPD as an advertising option and will finally have a competitive edge and some identity instead of crawling behind Google.

Yahoo could probably develop the technology in house and launch it, bypassing acquisition, but a lawsuit resulting from infringing on IdeaMama’s patents would probably cost them more than the price of the acquisition itself, plus the hassle of explaining to its shareholders about corporate integrity. From what I heard Yahoo will be paying nothing for this deal, something under $20 million. Taking into consideration that the time factor is critical, bringing people knowledgeable in the PPD model from IdeaMama’s team to integrate the technology into Yahoo’s operation sounds like a smart move.

$10 billion in additional revenue for Yahoo will cost all together less than $30M (buying price plus system integration)? Hah? Someone might not like it. Yes, in the last few years Yahoo have clearly lost mind share and market share to competitors, but as I see it with this exquisite turnaround move Yahoo by definition can become the most important player in search marketing sphere as now the company can tap in into verticals that neither Google, Microsoft or AOL can reach (unless one of them places a higher acquisition bid I guess).

For Yahoo, more relevancy in search results and social media innovations won’t solve the problem of Google’s dominance in paid search advertising. Yahoo was behind and will remain behind even despite its acquisition by Microsoft if it ever happens. But Yahoo’s strategic acquisition of IdeaMama’s ad system will scale Yahoo’s online advertising platform and branch it into a new online advertising category with untapped and uncapped revenue potential. Now it is not social media innovation that everybody is talking about, but innovation in media monetization.

I find all that to be a very interesting development of the search game. I can’t wait to hear more about 2009 M&A activities and especially the M&A deal “Yahoo plus IdeaMama” and all the post-acquisition events. What happens next in the battle between search giants can be simply fascinating; you never know who pulls the next trigger and what it might be.

Search Engines in 2010 – 7 You Need To Keep an Eye On

Author admin    Category Google     Tags , , , ,

Lets face it, Google is the dominating search engine, and will most likely continue to be that in the foreseeable future, there is thousands of smaller search engines that are working hard to gain a piece of the search marketplace for themselves.

The English language market for search is dominated by a few big behemoths. According to comScore the market for search in October 2009 was dominated by Google (65.4%), Yahoo (18.0%), Microsoft (9.9%), Ask (3.9%) and AOL (2.9%), followed by MapQuest, eBay, craigslist, Fox, MySpace, Facebook and Amazon.

With the search market valued at $300 Billion that makes every single 1% worth $3 Billion when selling the company and you would do very well by conquering just a 0.1% slice of that cake. The number of start up search engines is only going to increase with more venture capital wanting a piece of the market.

This is the top 7 search engines that the 2010 blog headlines are likely to gossip around. New or old, they all have in common that they deliver good search results and they have been innovating in 2009.

Cuil

With two ex Googlers, Anna Patterson and Russell Power, in the management team and by claiming to be the worlds biggest search engine Cuil has a lot to deliver.

Overloaded servers generating low quality search results hampered the  2008 launch giving Cuil a fair amount of negative media attention but of you try a search today you’ll find the search results are really good and there is an explore by category function that is among the best I’ve seen.

DuckDuckGo

The search engine with the silly name and a cute interface uses a combination of Yahoo BOSS, Wikipedia and it’s own crawler DuckDuckBot to give you both hard information in a Zero-click information box, categories to further refine searches and the actual search results.

Founded by Gabriel Weinberg, who started and then sold The Names Database, DuckDuckGo is a private venture that has grown steadily since it launched in September 2008. Watch out for this search engine in 2010, it has a nice niche carved out for itself

Spezify

A totally cool search engine, Spezify. The search results are showcased as images and newspaper clippings pasted all over the computer screen, the clippings having one paragraph quotes from the result web site. By scanning some of the clippings you get a excellent overview of the matter you are researching and can make an informed decision on which search results to visit and read more about.

It’s also a great brainstorming tool. You’ll get a ton of new ideas for your article or blog post just by entering your keyword into the search box and watching the resulting mix of clippings and photos.

Secret Search Engine Labs

This search engine ranks sites differently than the big mainstream search engines. As Google gives priority to aged and big sites, many new, small and relevant sites are hard to find in their search results. The algorithm of Secret Search Engine Labs ranks sites according to on page factors and link anchor text and removes spam pages using the trademarked CashRank method.

A search engine that puts more weight on web page content than on site authority and that provides useful info to webmasters on how the search results are calculated, Secret Search Engine Labs was started in 2007 by Finnish software engineer and entrepreneur Simon Byholm with the aim to grow slowly into the best search engine on the Web.

Bing

First there was MSN Search, then Live Search and now with the latest re-branding we have Bing. With a forceful marketing campaign Microsoft has managed to grab almost 10% of the market for search. The media attention during the re-launch has fueled innovation adding new features like the daily changing background image, suggested topics and trends.

With Microsoft working fiercely to increase Bing’s market share you should watch them closely during 2010.

Blekko

This is a brand new start-up that is keeps it’s mouth shut almost as well as Old Google when you ask about the what and the when of their new search engine. The strong management team with ex-employees from Topix, Google, AOL and Netscape Search has me wondering if they have something fascinating going on.

We are still waiting eagerly  for Blekkos public launch. It was promised for the end of 2009 though so you can assume that it will make some serious headlines in 2010. We can only hope it’s good and exciting news.

Monitter

Monitter is not a classic search engine but a real-time Twitter search where you can monitor several keywords and see the tweets containing those keywords in real time as they are tweeted. When you need to monitor you niche or area of expertise or if you just want to track the conversation this is a neat tool.

There Are More Search Engines, Right?

I think you know that Google is innovating and it’s pretty sure they will make some noise in 2010. Wolfram Alpha is fascinating as it is the only major search engine that makes the results from data.

There’s a multitude of social, real-time or just weird search engines starting up and there’s no telling if one of them develops into the next Twitter and makes a permanent mark in the search market. You’ll find more information about these and many more at AltSearchengines.com

There is finally signs that we could see big changes in the search engine landscape after years of rule by Google, Yahoo and Microsoft. There’s new technology sprouting like mushrooms in every nook of the Net. There’s semantic search, visual presentation, real time search and socially powered search engines created. If nothing else is achieved at least the old behemoths will have to adopt the new technology to stay competitive, giving us better search results in the process.

Can Google challenge Microsoft’s dominance in 2010?

In 2009, Google Inc. and Microsoft Corp. were fighting for each other’s market share and revenue stream by introducing new products and updated versions of existing ones. Various analysts predict that the year 2010 will see more action between the two giants as they compete in the fields of Internet search, operating systems, enterprise applications and web browsers.

While, Microsoft leads in operating system, enterprise applications and web browsers market, Google holds the lead in search arena. However, in the field of web based applications, Google is slowly snatching the market share from Microsoft.
For Google, it’s all about expanding, but for Microsoft, it’s about sustaining the lead in the world market. Meanwhile, few analysts believe that Google is the only one that could rattle Microsoft.

Here, we discuss various territories, where the two giants fighting head on.

Internet Search Share

As per the November market share, Google remained the dominant leader with 65.6% share, whereas Yahoo and Microsoft’s Bing reported 17.5% and 10.3% share. Besides real-time search interface, Google has also introduced new up gradations in its search engine, which include Google Goggles (a photo-based search), Instant Voice Translation, Location based search and Near Me Now service. Further, the company also introduced its faster variant called Google Caffeine.

Google earns 90% of its revenue from web-ads, therefore to check the company prospects; Microsoft has to cut their ad revenue. Therefore, against Google’s monopoly, Microsoft and Yahoo had joined hands in the search and Bing will become the default search engine on Yahoo, creating a search player with close to 30% share compared with Google’s 65%. Further, Microsoft has developed the feature-rich updated version of its Bing maps and introduced another application, called Local Lens to figure out exact location as well.

Operating systems

Microsoft is presently enjoying 92% share in the OS market, whereas Google is under the process of developing its Chrome operating system for light PCs like netbooks. Last month, Google had released its source code for developers. It is reported that the search giant will also release its Android OS based netbook and Smartphone in 2010.

The new systems based on Chrome OS will support cloud computing and will be web-connected via Wi-Fi and play only web-based applications such as Google Docs. Hence, Microsoft has to formulate suitable technologies and up gradations to counter the Google emergence in the OS arena.

Web-based Apps

In last two-three years, Google has twisted the pattern of Microsoft’s Office market share. Consumers are now using web based apps of Google, which is available for as low as @ $50 per user, per year.

Microsoft is aware of the growing threat from the search giant, and will counter it in Office 2010. The new productivity suite will include Web-based versions of its most commonly used applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote for the first time. Microsoft holds more than 90% share of office tools.

Web browser

According to December market share report, with 4.63% share, Google’s Chrome web browser has surpassed Apple’s Safari (4.46%) to become the world’s third-most popular browser in just 16 months after its debut. In comparison, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (IE) has posted a drop of 0.92% to 62.7% in December. Further, IE reports continuous slip in its share since the second half of 2009.

Internet Marketing – Why 2010 Will Be A White Knuckle Ride For Web Marketers

Copyright (c) 2009 Titus Hoskins

Next year may just prove to be one of the most challenging times for pursuing online or Internet marketing on the web. It may just be a watershed moment for many marketers struggling to keep abreast of all the different factors which have come into play in recent months. Most of these changes will stem from two main sources for potential upheaval: the first being the New FTC (Federal Trade Commission) Guidelines regarding Testimonials and Endorsements and the second being “ALL” the recent changes within Google.

Actually, we already have the new FTC Guidelines which came into effect on Dec. 1st of 2009, but how these new rules are enforced will play out in the coming year as test-cases are brought to court. Basically, these new rules call for absolute disclosure and full transparency regarding Testimonials and Endorsements when a product or service is being offered for sale. Any business (monetary) relationship between the endorser and the company must be made known to the potential buyer. Obviously for those in online or affiliate marketing this could have a great impact if these new rules are strictly enforced. Just imagine all the website owners and bloggers who slap a few banners or affiliate links on their sites to cover hosting or operating costs… will they now have to disclose all these business arrangements?

For professional affiliate marketers and the companies/products they’re promoting, these new guidelines could cause potential headaches and/or legal ramifications since a general blanket disclaimer on their sites will no longer be suffice. To help solve this problem, many of the major companies are now placing an “affiliate” tag on all their banners and making it obvious a business relationship exists with its affiliates. In addition, many online marketers are placing additional disclaimers, affiliate seals and in other ways making it known certain links are indeed affiliate links and a relationship does exist with the product and/or services being promoted.

With these new guidelines, another big issue is email marketing, one of the major marketing techniques of most online marketers. Will a full disclosure be necessary for every email sales pitch? Savvy web marketers know the key to increased sales is in the “follow-up” and the “cookie-ing” of potential buyers; how will the new Guidelines affect this very effective marketing practice? How all these new rules or guidelines play out will make next year a very interesting one for marketing on the web.

Despite this, perhaps the greatest cause for upheaval in the coming year will be Google. There are countless reasons why Google will be a major game changer in 2010 for online marketing. Ever since Bing and more recently the potential Bing/Yahoo competition, Google has gone into complete overdrive, implementing new changes and debuting new programs like there was no tomorrow.

First, we have Google Caffeine which Google is introducing (full force) early in the new year. Google Caffeine, which is a major overhaul of its search engine, will no doubt cause many a marketer some sleepless nights as the total fall-out becomes evident. Other Google updates in the past (Florida Update comes readily to mind) have wrecked havoc on many top ranking sites, but this time Google is doing things a little different and have even given webmasters a beta version of the new search engine. Still, rightly or wrongly, many online marketers are bracing themselves for the full impact of Caffeine, will it mean smooth sailing or a stomach sickening roller-coaster ride for marketers and webmasters?

Second, we have the introduction of “Real Time” search which will be featured in Google’s SERPs. This will make the social media sites like Twitter, FaceBook, MySpace… much more important. Again, the implications for online marketers could be enormous since many can now reach the first page through a different route. Will it also mean more “Real Time” spam? But more importantly, will it mean a greater marketing opportunity for the online marketer who exploits it?

Third, we are seeing Google moving more and more towards “Visual Search” with the introduction of Google Goggles for mobile phones. Just take a picture and you get the Google results instantly – no typing, just point and click. Just envision countless clueless teenagers or more importantly helpless shoppers suddenly being empowered with knowledge and wisdom. Could do more for education since the invention of the printed word and the info-commercial combined. Talk about scary! But will the implications for web marketing be just as revolutionary and enlightening?

Fourth, Google has made it known through its spokesperson Matt Cutts, that site-loading times will be a ranking factor in the new improved Google. Also, proper and correct page coding will also be more important if you want your site to be at full advantage. Broken links will be a big “No-No”, while linking out to important related sites a big plus. All this is only logical, Google’s main product is and has always been its search results, anything which improves those results and provides a more pleasing experience for the Google user should be front and center. Obviously, one way for Google to stay on top, is to provide the best search results to its users.

Fifth

Finally, while no one would argue Google is King of the Hill when it comes to online search, will all these new changes strengthen or weaken Google’s grip? Will the combined Bing/Yahoo be able to give this giant some much needed competition? Or will Google’s main competition come from an unlikely source, such as big name multi-national corporations who are moving their operations online. Can these big-name keyworded domains start directly pulling in the majority of the web’s traffic, making all search engines secondary? As people become more web savvy, will they go directly to what they’re looking for on the web, bypassing the search engines altogether – including the mighty Google? Such a scenario could have greater consequences for the affiliate marketer since a direct line to a company’s site or product will obviously mean less sales for the online marketer, who really works in coordination with the search engines, either through organic search or PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising in these same search engines.

Overall, the new FTC Guidelines and recent changes to Google, will make next year one of the most interesting times to be pitching anything online. Throw into this the full effect what a combined Bing/Yahoo might bring to the table, and you have the recipe for a tumultuous white knuckle ride, until the dust finally settles and marketers make adjustments like they always do. Until then, hold on because things will probably get a little hectic for many web marketers before we see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Facebook Marketing Comes Full Circle in 2010

Aren’t you glad that the social networking sites are making it more difficult for marketers t use stealth tactics to market to (and spam) its members?  Even if it’s fruitful for you, it never makes you feel good to deceive customers and annoy the masses.

In 2009, Facebook really took off, replacing MySpace as the marketer’s adult web 2.0 playground of choice. There were some drawbacks, though. You had people complaining that their friends were only talking about business opportunities – and some complaining that they didn’t care to know the personal aspects of their friends lives because they were there to conduct business.

Many marketers decided to clean their friends’ list and open fan pages instead – reserving their official Facebook profile for close friends and family only. Facebook has a lot to ensure their income continues to soar with this influx of non-college students.

Their estimated revenue for the year 2010 is over $710 million. They’ve grown to over 350 million members and that number will continue to soar. While it’s traditionally been a closed site, Facebook is now working to connect its own member content across the World Wide Wide, enabling members to share on their own websites or blogs via Facebook connect.

Facebook will continue to lead the social networking scene when it comes to globalization. It started with a nifty translator that enables you to participate on the site in more than 70 different languages.

One thing is for sure. Facebook’s going to have to find a way to help its members avoid spam. Right now, anyone can send you a message without even having you confirm them as a friend.

That means you’ll get all sorts of spam content – from the long lost relative with the same last name who wants you to pay her $14,000 so she can transfer $1.4 million into your account to the cutesy women who want to chat with you, big boy!

Users of Facebook will be hyper-sensitive to any changes the site makes in regards to the privacy of their content, after 2009’s fiasco of announcing they officially owned your content and then going back on that statement to put out all of the fires that started.

Advertising is rampant on the site, so more marketers will be looking for ways to pay to play there. Right now you can run an AdWords-like campaign on Facebook, targeting individuals by age, location and more. Then you create an ad, choose PPC or pay per impression and track your conversions. Competition for 2010 may heat up, so learn to tweak your campaigns early on.

As 2009 draws to a close and a new decade dawns, consumers and IT markets predict various new challenges for the next year and also expect something good for market conditions. Various analysts predict that IT sector will pull out the global economy from recession. It is assumed that the US, EU and emerging economies would gain momentum and have a positive growth in 2010.

Here, the feature discusses few predictions for the upcoming year.

Recovery in global economy

It is assumed that the next year will see growth in global IT spending, job creation and hiring. The research firm, IDC forecasted 3.2% growth in IT spending, which will equal the 2008 levels to $1.5 trillion and emerging markets will have half of the projected growth. RBI and finance ministry has predicted a 7-7.5% growth in GDP for next year.

Social networking grows up

The year 2010 will see a robust growth in social media and its inclusion in various corporate sectors. It will require IT specialists who can engage audiences in their organization’s messages, products and services. Further, it is predicted that companies will more actively encourage employees to use Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.

Apple Tablet PC/eReader

People across the world are waiting for the much anticipated Tablet PC from Apple. According to the latest report, Apple will launch its Tablet PC in late January at a venue in San Francisco. It is reported that the device may resemble a large iPod Touch with a 10-inch diagonal screen, lacks a keyboard, packs USB, FireWire ports and runs Mac OS X along with a variety of multimedia goodies. The source says the device’s video quality “is better than the average movie experience.” However, consumers also expect a higher premium from the device, which is supposed to be named as “iSlate.”

Google to expand beyond search

In the recent market share for November, Google remained the dominant leader with 65.6% share, but now, the company has moved from its search fort and is trying in various fields like apps, programming language, mobile phones, operating systems, cloud apps, etc.
Now, the search engine is planning to launch its Google Phone or Nexus One, Android based netbook, Chrome operating system in 2010. With such new launches, the company will target Apple in mobile segment, Microsoft’s monopoly in operating systems and other PC vendors.

Oracle-Sun Microsystems deal

Various market analysts predict that the European regulators will provide their nod for Oracle’s $7.4 billion acquisition of Sun Microsystems in 2010. For this, Oracle has provided a series of concessions to relieve antitrust concerns. It is reported that Oracle will preserve the viability of MySQL, which is a relational database management system with more than 6 million installations. Also, it will not file any intellectual property claims and extend MySQL’s existing commercial licenses for upto five years.

But, the co-creator of the MySQL database currently owned by Sun Microsystems has started a campaign against the proposed deal because the merger would hit consumers and small businesses and the prices of license and support would increase.
