How to get the best “real-time” stats for your blog or website

Everyone wants to know how many people are reading their blogs, and there are many many places where you can get “visitor counters” or “how many online” buttons, but the information you get from them is hardly accurate or in-depth.

Everyone, if they have any sense, uses google analytics for the big picture of your visitors, and the information given is truly amazing when you are looking at the global figures relating to your site. Where your visitors were directed to your website from, which country they live in, which pages they looked at, how long they spent on your site, etc. The range of figures is mindboggling, and for corporate reasons you should always have these figures around as they are a trusted medium in the web community.

But, if you want to actual know, right now, how many people are on your site, which pages they are looking at, etc, then i have no hesitation in recommending the little-known stats counter addfreestats.

This site will give you actual real-time facts about how many visitors are reading you blog RIGHT NOW, it will give you a list of which referring pages the last 50 visitors came from, which town in which country they come from, which page they landed on, how many other pages they visited (and which ones!).

They will also give you the usual total figures of how many visitors, how many unique visitors, how many pages visited, etc, but it such a good layout that i find i will write a story and then spend the next half-hour just looking at the visitors arrive!

There are thousands of other statistics available, probably too many to mention here, but i will highlight; The amount of visitors that clicked on your ads (exit pages), the most popular (no, not the most popular, ALL) the search terms that were typed into search engines to point them to your site, the average amount of time spent on-site and how many visitors in each hour.

I can see that i could go on for ages, but suffice to say that i highly recommend AddFreeStats to anyone who owns a website or blog. The best thing about addfreestats is that it is available via a small button on your home-page and of course it is totally FREE! The only downside is that you have to put up with a silly pop-up when you log-on, but that is a small price to pay for the information at your fingertips.

And just to clarify, i am NOT being paid to write this!
