Internet Marketing Tip for the New Age is Simple

America, Great Britain, and whoever else may be reading this, it’s time to wake up and enter the twenty-first century. The face of Internet marketing is changing hourly, and unless you keep up with it, you are going to be left hanging in the wind and squirming in the sand. In other words, you will be up the creek without a paddle or a boat. It is the hopes of this article that you will see what’s out there and respond to the ever changing world of Internet marketing.
So, how is this all going down? What’s changing? What’s the same, if anything? Well, a lot is the same. The basic principals of marketing don’t change. You have to identify a target market, come up with a solution to a problem that they’re having and then finally advertise that solution. How we advertise today, well, that’s where things are changing very fast.
Probably the biggest changes to Internet marketing today are social bookmarking sites and the use of some pretty sophisticated video.
Social bookmarking is basically where you go to a site and make posts about your favorite sites. www.perpetual-traffic-generator.comYou say what you like about the site and then leave a link so that other people can check it out. While you have to be careful with how you use these new social bookmarking sites, they can be very effective if you play your cards right.
As far as the video aspect goes, we now have sites on the Internet like YouTube, where you can upload your home videos for all the world to see. Come up with something interesting and you can get quite a bit of traffic to your site. The technology today makes it very easy to put together a video in no time flat.
Then of course you have sites like MySpace. While you can’t directly advertise on MySpace, you can build up quite a list of friends by simply putting up a site that is interesting. Many people have made decent livings using MySpace marketing. You just have to use your head.
All this is not to say that the old ways of marketing don’t still work. Even though many people feel that article marketing is the new “fad”, the truth is, people have been writing articles to promote their businesses for a very long time. www.free-ad-system.com   It just seems to be more in vogue now than ever thanks to Bum Marketing, which is a term coined by Travis Sago. Look it up if you’re not sure what it is.

http://www.popups-generator.com
http://www.split-test-profits.com

The point of all this is a simple one. If you want to keep up with what’s going on, you need to get out there and read. Subscribe to advertising news letters and journals. If you don’t do this, you’ll end up waking up one day and asking people what all these new sites are and where they came from.

The Basics of Search Engine Optimization (seo) and Search Engine Marketing (sem) and What Each Does

The basics of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and Search Engine Optimization (SEM) and what each does.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of using different strategies to improve the level of a web site’s ranking position in a search engine when a user searches for information using keywords or phrases. Some strategies used in SEO of a web site are keyword or phrase research, the creation of proper Meta Tags, good page content, link building, and even usability. The purpose of SEO is to optimize the web site in order to give it a high ranking position in the search engines.

Proper SEO techniques are what gives the web site a ranking position in the different search engines according to the keywords or phrases the web site has been optimized for.

Search Engine Marketing (SEM) is the process of using tools such as a Pay Per Click (PPC) Campaign to bid on target keywords or phrases in the attempt to drive web traffic to the web site. In other words, rather than optimize a web site for search engines, the web site is being marketed through the search engines with the use of paid keywords or phrases in an effort to maximize more exposure of the web site to users on the Internet. The purpose of SEM is to market the website through the different search engines, and drive traffic to the web site.

Like SEO, keywords or phrases need to be researched while using SEM techniques. Using keywords or phrases that are not popular and effective will not give the desired results from either SEO and SEM techniques.

Keywords or phrases are words that users put into search engines in order to find the web site and information they are looking for. It is recommended to create three word keyword phrases, research which of these phrases are most popular and effective for the web site, and optimize the web site to these keyword phrases. It is also important to monitor the keyword phrases to see which keyword phrases are effective and ineffective to the optimization and marketing of a web site. The list of keyword phrases will change due to ineffectiveness, popularity, and other outside factors.

Pay Per Click (PPC) Marketing is an advertising method that allows you to buy search engine placement by bidding on keywords or phrases. These advertisements are usually displayed on the right hand side of the Search Engine Results Page (SERP). Another form of PPC is that you pay for an actual SERP ranking, and you may also pay a pay-per click fee which means the more you pay, the higher in the search engine results page you will be displayed. These types of advertisements are usually displayed right on top of the search engine results page before the number 1 ranking web site.

It is important to remember that all search engines make a distinction between SEM techniques such as PPC and SEO techniques. SEM techniques such as PPC do not help your search engine ranking positions. Only SEO techniques such as properly Meta Tagging your web site, proper keyword placement, and the quality of content on your web site will help with your search engine ranking positions. SEM techniques such as PPC is a search engine marketing strategy.

Both SEO and SEM techniques have the goals to make a web site more visible to the users on the Internet and drive traffic to a web site. Neither SEO or SEM guarantee that you will generate sales through the use of one or the combination of both. This would fall under such things as Web Site Usability. For example, you have 100 visitors come to your web site, and you don’t make a single sale from one. This is not an SEO or SEM issue, rather there is something on the web site causing no sales. Web site usability and functionality of the web site needs to be looked into on why people are visiting the web site but not buying the services or products. This would be the same as 100 people walking into your business and walking right back out the front doors. What is causing them to leave?

Search Engine Optimization is for optimizing a web site with the goal of gaining a high ranking position within different search engines, while Search Engine Marketing is for marketing a web site through search engines with such tools as a Pay Per Click Campaign.

Both Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing require continual work in order to provide the best results for a web site. It is important to remember that these results will sometimes take time; up to 3 months is not uncommon.

In conclusion, using proper Search Engine Optimization techniques will help a web site’s ranking position in search engines, and generate visitors to a web site over time. While Search Engine Marketing techniques will not help a web site’s ranking position in search engines, it will generate more traffic to the web site faster than Search Engine Optimization techniques.

Combining both Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing techniques will help with the web site’s ranking positions in search engines and draw more traffic to the web site with the goal of converting the visitors in sales.

Your Google Search Ranking: Effective Monitoring

The whole purpose of a webmaster is to constantly monitor search engine rankings.  Although there are many search engines that are used on a regular basis, but quite possibly the most popular one is Google.  This may be largely due in part to all of the tools that Google provides to help webmasters monitor what is going on with their website.

You cannot simply create a website and then just let it run on its own.  You have to constantly change or add things in order to ensure that your website gets traffic.  When you have high levels of traffic, your website is successful.  You must constantly pay attention to where your website ranks against your competitors.  Watching your page rankings and partaking in ways to raise these rankings is part of it all.  Google is extremely helpful with your efforts.

Raising your rankings takes a lot of effort.  There are multiple things that you need to do.  You need to add keyword rich articles regularly.  You need to update your landing page often.  You need to advertise your website actively.  You also need to constantly change your keywords.  All of these things, and so much more, is what makes up the process that we refer to as Search Engine Optimization.

When your site is optimized, it is picked up a lot faster by search engines.  It is also listed higher on the search results page.  Your goal, in the long run, is to get as high as you can possibly get on this page.  Every webmaster covets that first listing.  It is actually a proven fact that the majority of people searching for something will not go past the first page of the results.

Because the Internet is constantly changing, search engines are also constantly changing.  Most of these changes are not known to the general public and are only related to how they crawl the websites on the Internet.  Crawling is performed by the bots of the search engine.  While their exact workings are a bit complicated, these crawling bots have the sole purpose of reading web pages and indexing them for searches.  This is why it is crucial to optimize your website, and consistently monitor your rankings.

Monitoring your website’s rankings entails a bit more than just watching how your website is indexed.  It also involves monitoring the things that your competitors are doing to optimize their websites.  Again, the tools offered by Google can help.  Google’s line of webmaster tools can help you keep track of everything related to the keywords that you are using for your website.  Google even has tools that can help you pick the best keywords to use.

How To Use Twitter And Social Media Marketing To Explode Your Online Profits

It’s not surprising that social media has become so popular in so short a time. Not only is it a source of entertainment for most people, it is also the newest strategy for acquiring customers for businesses. And with hot new tools like Twitter, social media marketing has only become more progressive and popular!

What Is Twitter?

In case you’re not familiar with Twitter, it is a social media tool that allows people to know what their fellow twitterers (people using twitter) are doing at this very moment.

Are you getting ready for bed? Put that on Twitter! Are you buying a new couch or writing a report on the effects of social media marketing? Put that on Twitter! Are you throwing a birthday party for your golden retriever? Well, you can put that on Twitter as well. There are no boundaries as to what you can put on Twitter. In Twitter, even the most mundane updates about your life can be pretty liberating.

Sounds simple, right? Perhaps, it is this simplicity that has made Twitter quite a sensation on the Internet. There’s also something amusing about knowing what other people are doing and letting them know your own business as well. This combination of fun and simplicity is what ultimately appeals to Twitter fans.

Applying Twitter In Business

If you’re business-minded, then you probably already have more than a few ideas on how to make this social media marketing tool work for you. Having a Twitter account allows you to inform your clients and would-be clients the progress in your company. You’re not putting up an ad every week (because that tends to be annoying). However, you get the chance to share with them what’s happening to your company’s products, people, tools, etc. right now.

Twitter, unlike MySpace and Facebook, poses an advantage for new and advanced marketers. As an efficient social media marketing tool, Twitter allows you to build a giant list of followers. It allows your clients and subscribers to see what you’re doing right now. It gives them access to your immediate profile and permits you to share your ideas with other twitterers. All free of charge.

How Twitter Can Explode Your Profits

While many people have other purposes and values for the use of the free service, the marketer can use Twitter to jumpstart a list of followers that can grow into thousands.

If you’re someone who sells used cars, you can use Twitter to attract members who are interested in automobiles. When a new shipment comes in, you can use Twitter to announce that the latest Ford model has arrived. Or if you’re having a sale, you can use Twitter to let everybody know about it.

These followers are the next best thing to customers. If they haven’t bought anything from you yet, then you can rest assured that they will be buying something soon. As long as you keep providing them something nice to look forward to, they will always be enticed to purchase something from your company.

Think of it as fishing. You already have the fish interested in your bait. All you have to do is wait for the fish to bite. According to quantcast.com, Twitter reaches about 6.1 million U.S. people every month. This social media tool has also reached other countries and is hugely popular in Japan. In fact, there are other Twitter-like applications that have popped up due to its insane fame!

Despite the huge popularity of Twitter, it is not a disorganized system that doesn’t have any limits. For example, you can only send 1,000 updates, 100 API requests and send 250 direct messages each day. And while there is no limit to the people who can follow you, the same freedom doesn’t apply vice-versa.

The maximum number of people you can follow is limited to 2,000. In Twitter-speak, to follow means to receive Twitter updates. This limit will only be lifted if you manage to attract more than 2,000 followers to your account.

According to Twitter, this is done to prevent SPAM users from adding up into their system and to prevent abuse from all current members.

It’s not that difficult to attract more followers into your account. In the long run, this will only make your Twitter account more meaningful because of the effort you’ve put into it.

The beauty at this stage is that once you are at such a level, it’s easier to attract new followers into your account. The benefits from taking such steps are acquiring your own list of eager followers (in which you can pitch your own products and services); and more importantly, gaining new business contacts.

Other Social Media Marketing Methods

There are other methods of social media marketing available for your use. Twitter isn’t the only way to enhance your business and get a constant flow of leads.

Other methods you can explore include:

1) Blogs

2) Community forums

3) Social networking sites such as Facebook, Myspace, and LinkedIn.

4) Video-sharing sites such as Youtube, Metacafe, Google videos, Yahoo videos, and AOL videos.

5) Content sharing sites such as Squidoo, Hubpages, Wetpaint, Qassia, and Google Knol.

These days, you shouldn’t just limit yourself to one thing. With the Internet as vast as it is, you should use every opportunity to make new contacts and establish yourself. Besides, think of all the new things you can learn from interacting with other people online!

Leave comments on your choice blogs and participate in forum discussions that allow for signature files after every post.  Make informative videos and upload them to video-sharing sites.  Explode your list of contacts through social networking sites. Share your knowledge and be recognized as an authority by submitting your content to content-sharing sites.

Not only will these help you establish credibility, you probably won’t even have to worry or stress about making money in the future. Remember that social media marketing, like any other marketing methods, works if you work it! Now like many of our mentors say – get to work!

Get on Top of Major Search Engines With PPC

Author admin    Category PPC     Tags , ,

What is PPC?

Pay-Per-Click, or PPC, is often used by businesses to advertise on search engines. Advertisers can create an account to display ads on search results pages for keyphrases they wish to bid on. They can set up their accounts so that they only pay when a user actually clicks on an advertisement that links to the advertiser’s website or landing page. The cost of a click varies greatly, from 5 cents to over $100. Advertisers will only pay the publisher up to a maximum PPC rate that is controlled through the campaign management portal. This allows businesses to advertise their company no matter what their budget. Many search engines and portals offer this kind of paid search advertising but the most popular are Google, Yahoo!, and MSN.

How can Businesses use it to gain immediate exposure to targeted traffic?

Advertising always helps promote the business. PPC expands your connections because it can reach all over the web. Using the right keyword for the ads can gain immediate exposure to your business and get your site to the top of the search results page. Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing, and Microsoft adCenter are the largest network operators that provide PPC. Advertisers place bids on the keywords they think are most often searched by the target audience. Once the potential visitor types in the keywords or phrase in the search engine, the advertiser’s ad may be displayed. PPC, done correctly, can lead to an increase in traffic, can better qualify the traffic the site gets, and can lead to higher conversion rates. PPC done wrong can be a huge waste of money, which is why many businesses have a professional manage their campaigns.

How can PPC support SEO (Search Engine Optimization)?

PPC helps get more traffic from search engines but it can also enhance search engine optimization. The presence of PPC ads sponsored search can boost click through to natural search results because of the confidence searchers gain when they see the site listed twice on one page. In fact, research shows that there is a 60% likelihood that a site will be clicked on when they site appears both in the natural and paid search areas of the search results page.

PPC also produces fantastic reports that show which keyphrases give the most band for the buck. With PPC campaign you can find what keyword converts before engaging so much time with SEO campaign. SEOs can then use that information to determine which keyphrases to optimize a page for. This will save money in the long run as a well optimized site can drive in plenty of highly qualified free traffic.

Case Study. We have been running a PPC campaign for www.FibrexGroup.com and its e-commerce sister site, www.BuyRecycledProducts.com for several months now. Through PPC, we determined early on that “recycling containers” was by far their hottest and most lucrative keyphrase. We then SEO’d both sites for “recycling containers” and several other similar variations. Over time, www.FibrexGroup.com rose to the first 3-5 positions on Google for “recycling containers” and the nacent www.BuyRecycledProducts.com went from nothing to #15 in just 2 months. With so much natural traffic going to these sites, we were able to stop bidding on “recycling containers” with no economic impact to the business, saving it $550 per month.

The key to a successful PPC campaign lies in proper analysis, study, and adjustment decisions. Effective PPC advertising needs a tightly-controlled theme of keywords/ keyphrases, well written ads, and links to goal-centric landing pages with clear calls to action that target your keywords directly. With proper PPC management, you will save a lot of money in the long run.

The Affiliate Gangsters of Internet Marketing

A lot of entrepreneurs and internet marketers arrogantly claim that they’re above affiliate programs, that they don’t need to endorse or advertise someone else’s product to make money online. The fact is that these netpreneurs have too much pride and what could be a self destructing ego. If they actually tried using an affiliate program, they would see how much money that they could make utilizing this Internet marketing stratagem.

Many people are afraid of affiliate programs because they think that they are shady or sleazy. Nothing could be further from the truth. Many very reputable companies, including some of the biggest companies in the world utilize affiliate programs in the Internet marketing campaigns.

If you want to make a lot of money, you need to pay attention to affiliate programs. Here’s why.

They’re Rolling In It

If you take a look at how much money affiliate programs pull in, you will see that the numbers are stagging. They make an astronomical amount of money, including sometimes seven figures.

The smartest of the online entrepreneurs have discovered that using affiliate programs is a very effective and wonderful way to generate a huge amount of income. All you need to do is refer as many people as possible to a colleague’s business. While this sounds counterintuitive, it’s actually very, very useful, and can make you a lot of money.

If you have SEO tools at your disposal, then you can utilize these to great effect and increase your affiliate program’s web exposure, thereby garnering a lot of revenue and boosting your Internet marketing campaign. Also, it doesn’t matter how many people actually turn into customers, because the affiliate’s responsibility is simply to refer visitors, not to convert them into paying customers.

The Web Was Built For This Stuff

Human nature is so that when someone recommends something to us, we are more likely to visit it. This is why the power of word of mouth is so important. Malcolm Gladwell has written an entire book on this subject called The Tipping Point. In addition, because of the global nature of the Web, you can constantly remind people about what you are recommending to them. The more you refer, the more Internet marketing you are utilizing. The more you refer, the more people see your referral. It is all about networking and more networking: the real drive in internet marketing.

We’re Going To The Land of Referrals

Referrals strongly help companies gain a huge amount of visitors. In turn, if the company has built a good website, then these companies will gain more customers. Also, we know that referrals work well, so they will be the future of Internet marketing. This is an Internet marketing strategy that is just beginning, so you need to implement it now if you want it to work. The more customers you refer to a business, the more likely that business will reward your affiliate program, though it’s best to work out a deal with the business before you begin with an affiliate program.

Run a Marketing Campaign on Twitter

Planning on how to run a Twitter marketing campaign requires, first, the assumption that you want to run a successful Twitter marketing campaign. It is important not to be viewed as a spammer.

Thus you must plan a marketing campaign that actually does little selling and more connecting. Why? Because this “laid-back” strategy on Twitter is more likely to get you loyal followers interested in what you have to offer.

Let’s look at an imaginary Twitter marketing campaign scenario:

You join Twitter and immediately start tweeting only about your products and services. Every time someone follows you, you send that person a DM (direct message) with a link to one of your sales pages. You use an application to automatically bring your blog feed into your Twitter account, and every one of your blog posts focuses solely on pushing your products and services.

How many people do you think will be interested in continuing to follow you and clicking on your links?

Twitter is effective for marketing purposes only when you realize it is NOT about sales but that it is about relationships.

A different imaginary Twitter marketing campaign scenario:

This time you join Twitter with a marketing strategy in place. You find and follow people who might be interested in what you have to offer but at this point you do NOT tell them about your products and services.

If you still want to send a DM when someone first follows you, make it a personal appreciation for connecting without pushing any of your sales page links. If you really want to include a link, make it to a free report.

In your general tweets you share links to worthwhile articles that relate to your products and services. These articles do not have to be your own; in fact, sometimes they should be to other people’s material.

Then every so often you throw in a tweet about a product or service of yours and include a link. But even in this case what you say can make a difference:

Instead of tweeting:

Buy my super-duper widget right now and you’ll make tons of money in 30 days. You can tweet:

Check out my new widget training program – it can help you attract more visitors to your website.

See how the second tweet is much less selling and much more sharing?

Now if you’ve been sharing worthwhile information connected to this topic, people following you will be more inclined to click on the link because these people are already conditioned to trust you. You’ve established this trust by providing these people with valuable free information on the topic.

In conclusion, the best mindset for developing a Twitter marketing campaign is to take the perspective of your potential clientele/customers: Not constantly tweeting about how great your products and services are; instead constantly tweeting to provide information that will help solve their problems.

And occasionally you can tweet that the solution to those problems are the products and services you’re selling.

Traffic Building in the Land of Twitter

Consider it micro marketing. This is the world of Twitter. You have no more than 140 characters (including spaces) to tell your followers (think friends) anything you want. Some users will respond with inane bits of uselessness that are designed to bring a smile while others will simply micro-blog about their day.

However, for the savvy marketer Twitter offers an impressive opportunity. Consider this, you want to tell new customers or inform existing customers about what you have to offer. Many potential clients will only respond to an eye catching opening statement.

Twitter provides a unique way to provide a human touch to your marketing. If you want to direct potential readers to a new blog then provide a link in your Twitter post. Many bloggers and news organizations will Twitter their latest news for quick access by those who have signed up to follow the organization.

It’s amazing how much you can actually say in the condensed environment of 140 characters. You’ll have to think in headlines. Make the phrase interesting and engaging. Provide the direct link.

If you are working on something specific for your blog you might even consider progress reports or teasers that describe a small window on the topic you will be covering in a future blog post.

Many marketers have found that if you Twitter your blog entries immediately you can actually access potential site visitors faster than using Real Simple Syndication (RSS). You can Twitter by phone (either text or voice) and even set up your blog to automatically post a twitter when you’ve published.

The primary way to start Twittering is to sign up (it’s free). You may find immediate followers or you might seek out a few existing customers. As your Twitter traffic grows you will likely find that you will have more ‘followers’ than those you are following. For the marketer that’s exactly what you want. It may be difficult for you to follow everyone interested in what you have to offer so be happy to gain a large following and limit those you follow to those you are actually interested in knowing more about.

Twitter is casual, human and consistent. This allows you to keep in touch simply and pointedly. Customers may even welcome multiple short messages as opposed to something the size of an ezine.

When interested parties check on your profile they can see immediately several of your most recent posts. This will provide the impression needed to determine if they want to be followers.

Many websites will have buttons that allow visitors to share that page with others. This is also true with Twitter. You can add a Twitter button on your page and allow other users to send your information through their own micro-posts. It’s simple and viral. One visitor who takes your Twitter link and runs with it can turn your information into hot property in a short period of time.

Twitter is a microscopic add on that can have a profound impact on your marketing objectives. It can change the dynamics of site traffic and appeals to the fast paced media saturated culture that seems to live and die by sound bites.

Monitoring Google search engine ranking and improving its position

Raising a site’s search engine position requires constant monitoring by a webmaster or internet marketer. A website’s search engine ranking should not be left up to chance and unknown proprietary search engine algorithms; instead the webmaster should play an active role to control and improve their site’s search engine position. Using free online SEO tools and monitors such as the various Google web monitors and search monitors from the Google Webmaster Tools is a great place to start.

After the performing the requisite round of optimizations the site’s search engine ranking will climb upward continuously and then taper off to an eventual plateau. Once this plateau stage is reached, the webmaster should then move on to the next phase that includes monitoring and maintaining their site’s good search engine position. Further steps can even be taken to improve the site’s rankings.

A search engine optimized site’s search engine position will show continuous minor fluctuations – this is something that webmasters should be aware of and not get too concerned about. Short term changes are a normal part of the process as search engine robots tirelessly index sites, it is the long-term changes in a site’s rankings that should be monitored and planned for.

Search engine robots constantly change the way they work; this makes keeping track of long-term trends of a site’s position very important. Monitoring a site’s progress every month or every week is necessary to keep on top of any sudden or gradual changes in a site’s SERP. A site’s search engine position may suddenly drop from a previously good position based on minute changes done in the way a search engine is engineered, making all the SEO work done on a site worthless overnight. The way to stay ahead of this is by through long term monitoring through Google’s Webmaster Tools.

Search engines are all different; each has its own unique method for formulating the pagerank of a particular page or site. A search engine typically uses many different algorithms to evaluate and index sites, which are regularly changed to ensure that no single algorithm becomes overused. Regularly changing the way a search engine operates keeps the results fresh and encourages innovation in indexing methods – a search engine who does not update the way it operates will lose popularity as their results grow stale and predictable. There are many online SEO tools that allows webmasters monitor their site’s position so webmasters are not caught unaware when a search engine’s formula changes.

It also pays to be vigilant about a site’s competition. A competing site’s rising position will lower other site’s rank, and inversely a site’s falling search engine position will increase the positions of competing sites. As all sites continuously change and update their content, fighting for visitors a clicks, monitoring one’s competitors is vital. Google has a great range of site monitoring tools that makes monitoring the rankings of several websites at once an easy task.

Simply sticking with one search engine is not enough – a site’s rankings on the top ten most popular search engine sites have to be monitored and optimized. It is important to get traffic from all search engines and just only the most popular ones. Lesser known search engines can be a valuable source of traffic.

The savvy webmaster will not only monitor their site’s ranking on various search engines, but also the popularity of the search engines. The internet using public are a fickle lot and will frequently change their favorite search engines. Currently Google reigns supreme, but this won’t last forever as many people turn to niche search engine to find their content. Spending all one’s time optimizing a site for a particular search engine that is falling out of favor is not a worthwhile endeavor; all that time and effort is better spent in optimizing a site for a hotter, newer up and coming search engine.
